This is my favorite Van Halen song and I've been listening to it for twenty plus years!! And I've always wondered how he made that sound at 4:37. It's the coolest sound I've ever heard a guitar make. Thanks for showing me how dude that was awesome!!
I love this song and was sad in the 80's that it didn't get much airplay. We always heard more of the "pop" vh from that album. It's so simple in it's structure but so raw and bluesey that it grabs you down deep. Good ol "Raunch Rock!" Timeless Classic. Oh, like you little slide at 5:02 also. Very well done.
I can't and don't play EVH, but when I have a bad day I can come on here because its calming to watch you play his music. He is undoubtedly one of the most skilled when it comes to the nuances of his verses, and the detail you go to, and the precise movement of your hands; it astonishes me. Even if you don't have them exactly right every go thru a riff I would never know, and the things you do sometimes even I can't hear him doing on the record but Im confident he does after watching you do it. so for your therapeutic attention to detail I say thank you
Thank you so much! I recently redid this tune because I believe I captured Eddie’s feel even more because I heard a few new nuances I hadn’t noticed before. Here’s the video with vocals but Eddie’s guitar removed so you only hear mine: ua-cam.com/video/WGtCC5ptsN8/v-deo.htmlsi=f5VoasXpwUYrvHpj Here’s the video with the vocals and guitar removed: ua-cam.com/video/bI9O8Ibfank/v-deo.htmlsi=eygCq06zxNCGFY30
Ah! the joy of putting on a copy of the newest VH album and waiting to hear what kind of brilliant licks, intros, riffs and solos he'd come up with now! :) As far as OU812 goes it was "Black and Blue" for the riffs and licks, "Source of Infection" for that mad intro and "When It's Love" for that glorious, classic Eddie type solo - falling down the stairs and landing on your feet!
I've been playing this song for years. One of my favorites. But, I noticed that you play it somewhat differently then the tab version I learned from. Your version is much easier to play and sounds more authentic. Thanks for sharing! Awesome job!
Great cover. I’ve heard a lot of guitarists attempt to play like EVH; most of them miss little details and can’t quite get up to his level. You have real talent and skill, and it shows through your attention to detail. Keep rocking and thanks for helping keep this great music alive.
You play great. I appreciate the great VH music over all the years. And even though I lean toward the Roth era stuff what your Hagar era videos have done is help remind me of how technically interesting and challenging is some of the guitar work Eddie gave us in those years. It's really a service you are doing to illuminate the great playing on some of these songs that I tend not to listen to unless I've got the whole record playing. Thanks and keep playing!
This guy hammers it !!!.. Makes me think of a time in 1981 when a kid came onstage in a band " Rock Angel " and played "On Fire " by Van Halen .. Oh I was so jealous !! .. totally nailed it ! .. So much so that the band they were opening up for came and watched with their jaws hanging but totally loving like the rest of us .. BTW .. my favorite song by Van Halen in those days was " I am the One ' ..
Another badass tune that was never played again after the OU812 tour. The one that was also dropped which I feel is one of the greatest VH songs ever with AFU (Naturally Wired).
I miss these days. Seventh grade seeing VH at Starwood in Nashville, TN. I can still remember them playing black and blue. Amazing how right on you are with all your VH covers. Thank you.
Absolutely the BEST cover possible! Eddie himself would be proud! You are amazing! I've never heard this song played so well, and you covered every note exactly as it was written. Very impressive!!
wow!!! guess I'm not the only one that still likes this song... you nailed it 110%. Was always amazed at the shear energy in the original, and you somehow nailed it and more!
I’ve been looking at EVH vids ever since UA-cam started - you are by far the best around. And clearly so modest - you just get on with the songs without any self promotion. Just brilliant. Ed always said the tone is in his fingers, and you have it. Also awesome is seeing some of these great old Hagar era songs. I’ve never gotten into the whole Dave vs Sammy rubbish (I just like great music), and it makes me sad that we’ll likely never see them performed live by the band, but I’m glad someone is keeping them alive!
I hope you don't take offense, BUT GOD BLESS YOU YOUNG FELLA!THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! You just made this ol 52 yr old bring a tear to his eye! I LOVE the adlibs you did in your arrangement. YOU are the BADDEST VH cover guitarist short of Mike Orlando out there! Thanks so much again for taking the time out for the request. Now i'm gonna check out your other new uploads. PEACE!
Very nice cover. You nail the VH 5150 tones and playing style very well. Sorry I had to remove my last comment as I was signed into the wrong account. Thank you very much for your explanation and going into detail on how your toggle switch is wired up/down. I was a little confused on that. Keep Rockin!
Thank you very much! I recently redid this song a little more accurately and using an app that allows me to remove the guitar so you only hear mine. Here’s with vocals: ua-cam.com/video/WGtCC5ptsN8/v-deo.htmlsi=-FlHrWXPi5nG1La2 Here’s without the vocals: ua-cam.com/video/bI9O8Ibfank/v-deo.htmlsi=ilxMuOnzT4cnapRM
Amazing. It's fascinating to watch someone play something so incredible. Can't you just see Eddie figuring this out as a song? So much versatility in guitar playing and this guy just nailed it. I can't even air guitar this yet along actually play it. The riffs that Eddie came up with are possibly the best and the most anyone guitarist has created. I also love that we are so close to the recording of this we can actually hear the pick striking the strings. Thanks for this! RIP too Eddie.
Next to their version of "There's Only One Way To Rock" and "Love Walks In" this is my favorite Van Halen song. And you nailed it. You also spell "Erik" correctly.
Man, I have to thank you very much indeed... You make easier (and easier) trying to play eddie's musics. And 'keep on playing', dude, you are really killing it!!
This is the most fun Van Halen song to play
I can play just like him. Except the solo and rhythm parts. I struggle with the intro, and ending. Haven’t figured out the middle Almost got it.
LOL Me too!
So. In other words. You don’t play just like him! Lol
@@semiauto3148
Seriously right😂😂😂😂
Just can’t play the intro middle or end!
keep playing brother, you got it
As a diehard VH fan, I can say that you; sir, have AMAZING talent. Keep uploading, man. LOVE IT.
Thank you so much!
holy shit, wow. impeccable
Marissa Hunt I as well am a die hard Vh and there’s not many people that nail Ed’s rhythm or solos to a T and this guy does it ! Awesome
I played this for my freshman year final in highschool, minus the solo. Well done.
Thank you!

Bradly Guldemond Wow! Thank you very much!
Bradly Guldemond - I coundn't have said it better myself. Exactly what i feel watching him play this.
There is only one who can exactly nail Eddies rifts, and it's Eddie! But yeah for sure, I love watching this guy play his music!
@@mopar3502001 no really man the nuances thats what youre nailing - i see it /hear it props from the 305
Hands down no contest the best cover of this ever. By far my fave VH tune.

Brilliant. Simply brilliant. New to the party here, better late than never! Excellent work friend
Still keep coming back to this incredible channel
I really appreciate it. Trying to find time to post more. 👍🏻
This is killer. One of my favorite tunes off of this album.
If Ed was having an off night they could turn him down and you could play for him backstage. You nailed it! Great playing!
It doesn't get any better than that!!
Brother this makes me wanna pick up my guitar and play!!! Thanks for the inspiration! Great tone and feel 🤘🏽🤘🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Nice..............this was my Sunday morning-cup of coffee wake up call!
Today... is mine's too
Outstanding job! Very impressive and helped me where i was stuck.
Absolutely the BEST cover possible! Eddie himself would be proud! You are amazing! I've never heard this song played so well, and you covered every note exactly as it was written. Very impressive!!

You make it look easy. Spectacular cover.

One of my favorite riffs of all time. Excellent work. Very talented.

Some of vh best tunes are with Sammy, great job..
That would be incorrect.
wow!!! guess I'm not the only one that still likes this song... you nailed it 110%. Was always amazed at the shear energy in the original, and you somehow nailed it and more!

This and BOBW......AWESOME!
I give it one of those French chef hand kiss "Viola'!" things.
This is about as perfect as it gets. Well done!
Great job - loved this one and your other VH videos
Thank you for watching!

Fantastic! I want to learn this one now!
And the CVH only guy's say Van Hagar was all pop and ballads yeah right. Great work man.
You are very skilled. And that's a sick looking guitar.

Never cared for this song but you nailed it. Excellent.
***** Where would you say the faults are?
OK...I...AM...MESMERIZED. This guy has studied Eddie extremely well !!!!
Must be the best cover I've seen on youtube!
