Gary, Micah, and Alan. Just want to send a big thanks for what you're doing on this channel, and I really appreciate (as I'm sure many others do) the time you take to do it.
This such a beautiful format. Micah's and Gary's personalities really shine and there is an intimate, fireplace kind of vibe that draws you in. Well done.
Micah is spot on about Germany, looking very strong and very tactically aware. They're playing to their strengths with their attacking play. Yes, Hungary had a few moments but that's all they were, moments. They didn't have more than five minutes of consistent possession which is quite different from what we saw with Serbia vs England. Hungary are quite a bit stronger than Serbia too. I'd love to see England play like that, one goal up but pinning the opposition back and just swinging, Hungary must have felt helpless.
Gary, I work in a youth club and we're staying open later to watch the match this evening. I know the BBC is very strict, however... 😂 the young people would love it if you could give some kind of shout out to Pelton Youth Project 😂😂
These intimate chats between Meeks and Vinegar are by far my favourite football insights (and crisp flavour). They both bring such a lovely energy, insight that is both easy to understand and enlightening... then there is that ability for either of them to call back to specific instances. That's either because both have bonkers memories or amazing researchers. Either way, thank you and more power to you both. Come on England!
On Trent - anyone who’s played football even at a lower level should know how different it is to play in the centre as opposed to the flanks. When you’re on the flanks, your brain is conditioned to be aware and responsive of what’s going on on your left side of you play out the right or right side of you play on the left. Playing in the centre you have to have 360 degree awareness, and it takes time to adjust. That’s why Trent was getting caught in possession sometimes, he’s not used to being in the centre where players are closing you down from all angles.
I'm Swiss, delighted with the game yesterday, massive respect for Scotland and its fans. It's true Shaqiri is so unpredictable at big tournaments😂 I love that little fucker so much. Hopefully he pulls something off against Germany too
Im English & support Scotland every game they play (apart from v England obv),, but id never tell my scottish friends & relations that 😂😂🏴🏴
Neither would I would laugh at any Scot if they got battered but secretly I would be a bit sad always nice to see the home nations do well. If we go out hopefully the home nations if they remain in do something just like Wales after we got knocked out of Euro 2016
The game is on at 3am where I live. I'll be watching it on catch up at about 7am. Never quite the same knowing whatever the score, it's already happened
Building the England team around our 2nd choice RB playing in the heart of midfield, as an attacking centre 8, is mental when you consider how stacked England is with world class attacking midfielders. Not only does it create a vulnerability in the heart of the teams midfield, but it also forces Foden the most inform attacking midfielders on earth out of position, which in turn weakens our left wing. This squad is phenomenal, but the tactical system is like something you'd think up if you wanted to get the worst out of the team.
Foden needs dropping - he's been given ample opportunities in a variety of positions and consistently stunk up the place. I'd get continuing trying to accommodate him if he was our only stand out player but we're absolutely stacked in his position with Bellingham and Palmer - one of the consequences of being so stacked is that big names sometimes miss out. Bring in someone who can actually play on the left like Gordon or Eze, and Foden can try challenge Jude for the 10 position or come off the bench.
Foden needs dropping, he's been given loads of chances in a variety of positions and consistently stunk up the place. I'd get keeping trying to accommodate him if he was our one good player but we're absolutely stacked in his position - which unfortunately means big names sometimes miss out. Play someone who can actually play on the left like Gordon or Eze. Foden can try challenge Jude for the 10 or come off the bench. Balance and structure is more important than trying to cram every big name in
I am Danish I will take a draw all day long. You guys have a really good team. If you play like you did in the second half v Serbia we can best ya. But if u are up for it we are in trouble
Thomas, that's a really modest comment. You guys have a good side - you're definitely better than your draw with Slovenia would suggest. Both you guys and England wilted a bit in the second half. I'm hoping both teams come out, express themselves and we get a good match. And that we both make it through the groups. Held og lykke!
I love the Danes, going to be a good game tonight. England at our best should win but that is key, we need to be at our best. Besides tonight, good luck to Denmark 🇩🇰 and Joachim Anderson 🦅
Hopefully this will be an end to end game. Slovenia are 1-0 up V Serbia and would have 4 points b4 Slovenia takes on England. Also it looks like who finish second of this England/Denmark group will play Germany in the last 16. Hence both teams should go for it to and not speculate.
I am, a Scot, and enthusiastic Scotland Fan. but I live and breathe the Premiership, and love all the player, and all the commentators, and while fingers crossed, my Scotland team stand outs all play in the Premiership, and there there is only one team that, has all my floorball Hero's and it's England, so while I hope Scotland get out of the group I hope England win it, and I have to say your pod cast has helped, with your fun banter and your wonderful line up of interesting informed guests. So come on England to win.
13:58 just went and watched the goal…it’s right on the edge of the box, about half a you’re outside! It is on an angle though, so it’s probably about 22/23 yards out!
This thumbnail title aged well didn’t it? My brother and I painted his new house yesterday. We then put the England game on and saw him staring at the wall. I asked him what’s up, he replied that he would rather watch paint dry.
No other country slates their football team as much as England. Foreign press and even the Scots and Welsh are more positive. English "fans" and the press are the absolute worst
Rightfully so. England are the luckiest team of the tournament so far, they could easily be on no points. Serbia were very unlucky not to at least get a draw and Denmark were by far the better team. I agree that the press are just noise makers...it’s all hype before the tournament and then doom and gloom when a dodgy performance appears.
I’m English, but I was willing the Scots to win last night. They played really well and if they go into the Hungary game with that tempo they could go through.
I am very pleased wit Julian Nagelsmann because he didn't choose his players only by status, but by roles. Thats why he didnt bring players like goretzka gnabry or hummels and it works perfectly

I'm scottish, and feel sorry for England, in the respect, such talent, but not managed effectively. Play so well until they score. Would kill to have even 3 players from your team. And I know scotland weren't managed well against Germany, that's obvious, but even if they had we still would have lost. Where as England, with the players they have got, have the potential to beat any team, if they are managed correctly
Tierney in his last couple of seasons at Celtic played pretty much every minute when he was still young and kinda played on with minor injuries. I wonder if that has affected his overall susceptibility to injury?
That pitch in Frankfurt was embarrassing and dangerous for the players. But you can't have a squad as talented as England's is and play that poorly and blame anyone other than the manager. Slow, unimaginative, passive, dire.
Scot’s vs The Swiss was def one of the best games so far, good to see the Scotland we all expected to see in the first game, I think they could have really made Germany work for it if they had played like that. Playing Hungary last is also their most winnable game, comes at a good time for them and I think they have a decent chance to get the win
We must remember, Southgate was a defender, a good one at that. He follows his instincts, what he knows, defence, structure, counter attack and caution. People follow their instincts.
I hope you're right, but knowing Southgate, today we're going to be so furious that you wouldn't believe it. He just can't help it to make the worst decisions, so unfortunately I wouldn't get my hopes high.
Let’s forget the first game. Get those tournament nerves out of the system lads. Time to get serious, show the country why you are picked to play for England. It’s a honor to wear the badge, let’s have more shots, more confidence to go forward, more professional aggression, less panic, less giving a F about what people think. And go out there and play the beautiful game. These lads are so talented, it’s all mental for them.
Proud? They were truly awful. Fortunate to come away with a draw. Denmark were easily the best team and they clearly wanted it more - much more - than England.
Silly comment. In Albania their games are obviously what Albanians prioritise over any other, it’s the same for every nation so naturally England fans care more about Englands game, so “most people” means most people except England and Denmark.

100% agree with Gary I would love to see England really go out & express themselves with a attacking fast paced match BUT we all know it'll not happen 😒
I think Southgate will start with the same team, he started with the same forward players (Henderson instead of Trent) in the World Cup against Senegal and France, we did have Shaw though which might be the reason why the left side didn't work out this time.
Why is the Lampard joke & them talking about the Scottish fan cut out, because of UA-cam policy? Really funny bits, the Spotify version is 5 minutes longer
Gallagher had a 100% pass success rate in the last game. I know he was only on the pitch for 20 odd minutes but it's hard to get better than perfection. Also it's not easy to come cold into an intense game and not make a mistake. I've now watched the match twice and can say that Gallagher was visibly one of only 3 England players who were passing and moving. The others seem to pass and admire the pass before they move (if they move at all). Portugal suffer from a similar affliction. It's like playing with one less man. It's totally different from the Dutch and the Spanish.
