    A very important video, just a few days I have this trouble with some vegetables
    But the original breakers have the possibility to set to 18 Amp behind the sticker of 16 Amp you will have the clock to arrange the amp
    Great video !!

    I don’t understand how you can clamp one side of the breaker and see 17A and clamp the other side and see only 3A ? You’re not losing 14A through heat. If the contacts on the breaker were bad I can understand large loss but not even that much. I’m not Qualified Electrician but I deal with circuit breakers and fridge compressors with my work.

    Did it take you a long time to get the refrigeration basics learned? Did you learn most of it in the classroom, or was it mostly on the job?

    • @leckyjake
      @leckyjake  2 роки тому +2

      to be honest, i learned it mostly on the job. every vessel has different set up and how much electrical situation I can have. so refrigeration is just part of the responsibility onboard

      @@leckyjake thank you for your reply. I am a shipyard electrician who has found myself in a situation that the air conditioning technician had quit his position, and I have been put into his position until we can find another one. Mostly i would be doing the periodic maintenance, and some of the electrical troubleshooting, but I must admit that there is a lot to learn, and many things, like working with the Freon, that I cannot do, unless they would send me to ac school to get the proper certifications. But I do what I can electrically, that is why your videos are very informative. Thanks again!🙂

      Compressor connection circuit not connected through the power module. That is the reason why controller is reading less amps.

    mate you shouldnt be upgrading the circuit breaker unless you upgrade your supply mains. The system is designed for a 16A circuit breaker. you could possible overload line and cause a fire.

    • @leckyjake
      @leckyjake  2 роки тому +1

      the main line is 440volts/3P/ 32 Amperes. fyi

      @@leckyjake the system has 16A breaker on it for a reason, if it’s pulling more than 16A the motor is trying too hard. This is early signs of motor failure

      As per manual, the starcool minimum current rating is 16 Amperes and at maximum cooling capacity it is 18 Amperes. They started setting the unit at 16 A due to the demands., the vessel socket is rated at 32 Amperes so in papers if the unit is rated at 18 amperes and you need to use the splitter box to supply 2 containers, that would be 36A (again at least in papers), so to match it they reduce the breakers from 18 A to 16 Amperes only. Normally starcool will not evem draw 16 A of current, that is of the cargo inside was precooled before they put inside the container. If precooled the compressor will only run at 60 hz which will reduce the current it draws., but for the hotstuff Compressors are eveb running more than 100hz, the maximum is 110hz. Definitely that 16A will not be enough. Nice troubleshooting though.
