I've never gotten the interpretation of martial arts from Joe Lewis and it's great material. Old school type of knowledge that's almost forgotten because everyone is wrapped up in sport fighting which is good too but I rather have this knowledge because my chance at 39 to be in the UFC is long past even though I think I would fair well in a division of older fighters 40 and up.

I did considerable work with Joe after he hit 39 and have some pretty interesting influences from our time together. Some of the principles come out in my new book A Mind For The Fight"

I first met Joe when he came to Hong Kong for the shooting of Jaguar Lives forty-three years ago. I was lucky to have the chance to work with him during his stay in Hong Kong. He was a true gentleman. I miss him.

Yes Joe was super articulate and technically gifted.most people may not know Joe actually knows medicine very well, which has a part in his explaining things.he once described himself as a scientist field testing techniques.thats a mouthful!

Had to be so intimidating for the students to stand toe to toe with Joe. Even in this teacher/student seminar video. Joe was one of the best. Had the name. It would have been more less the same as having had a chance to learn from Bruce himself, or Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Benny "the Jet" Urquidez...even Chuck Norris (one of the few who never taught seminars). Most other NAME "legendary" martial artists have and still do.
It's enough pressure standing toe to to toe (learning) with some one unknown but better than you. Maybe a state champion. Or simply some one in the class who is better.
But if we had to learn and are serious enough...this class would have been "Gold".

lol we want to know the same thing. Vincent Fave Jr was the one who made the videos for my Sifu but has long since shut down his youtube channel. Sorry these are the only ones we have been able to find. He made other videos for Joe Lewis so keep a look out for those also.

As great as Joe Lewis was...he did here in effect "create a style". :) JKD is supposed to be using no particular style. I've heard JKD being described as a "system of thought" To use what works for that one student. Why not simply call JL's system or school "The JL Martial Arts Center"? Clearly Joe had amazing point fighting and especially kickboxing ability. And that's what was being taught in this video. Was a kickboxing seminar pretty much. Joe should have still been able to get the students he did Just by using his own name in the name of his school. With all due respect to the late Joe Lewis he was using the JKD name to sell his system as JKD still gets people into schools....Bruce Lee fans.
