Hammond purchased Leslie years ago. Very good explanation of how the Leslie ramps up and how brake works. Toontrack really did an excellent job in developing this. They could have just done a simple, second rate instrument. But instead they went all out. Props to them for this.
That's good info and I totally agree!
As a guitarist/keyboardist who grew up around piano and organ performances, they have knocked this one out of the park. I can see many keyboardists buying EZ Keys just to get to this pack, to use as a VST.
Now I can write my own obituary and add the organ music 😂
Great video!
Thank you, Jim!
well done ---- one of your best videos - very focused and organized
I appreciate you saying!
Dang ... what an incredible overview of this product .... SO SO SO. Substantive and set forth perfectly ... great job Sean!! ...
Thank you, Captain!
Well worth the wait. I had held off for a few days waiting for this video, but then had to purchase. Now that the video is out it all is being more clear. Thanks so much. This is gold.
Great to hear! Thank you, Dan.
Immediately deep purple vibe. I love it!
Yup!
I love the sound of a B3, but I’ve never heard this much of one in isolation. I’m blown away. Buying this immediately. Incredible.
Excellent demo, Shawn!
Thank you, Scott!
So glad to see Toontrack giving us a B3 & Leslie that sounds incredible and great midi to go with it!!
You know it!
The Hammond organ has been a glaring omission in the EKX library. So glad this finally came out!
Certainly has!
Great tutorial...as always. Can't believe I missed this vid when it first came out.. So glad EZ Keys came out with this release..before I bought the IK Multimedia version of the B3.
Good to hear, Bob!
Really awesome tutorial… could not have been more clear.
Thank you for saying!
Just picked the Session Organ EKX up yesterday and playing through it. I've waited a long time for this one and really glad to finally see it come about. It sounds fantastic so far!
Certainly does!
Thank you so much for this great video! I learned a lot from it and it also tells me that this EKX library is worth every cent and that I'm gonna have to buy it.
Glad it was helpful!
Man, I was hoping for this overview/tutorial. You do such an excellent job of breaking it down in an easily digested form. This is a magical and complex instrument. Excellent Tutorial, Thanks!
Thank you for saying, Spokansas!
Thanks! Sorry I’ve not caught you live much lately.
Thank you so much Edgar!!! Come by when you can.
Great video, Shaun. Thank you! Bought it in a 3-pack with soul roads and singer-songwriter. Toontrack is on a roll.
Same. Bundle discount baby!
Great video Shawn. I have the IK, NI & Logic B3s but I love the Toontrack version the most. It’s so good. The MIDI is excellent. Picked it up in a 3 pack with Singer-Songwriter piano & Session Bass. Now waiting for the end of the month so I can get a MIDI mixed 6 pack.
Thank you, Mark! That's good feedback because I'm not too familiar with the competition.
Great video, Shawn! I've been waiting for this beauty foe ages, and it has exceedded my expectations.
Thank you. Agreed!
In the back of the console of B-3 C-3 RT-3 and earlier HAMMOND consoles including A -100s and similar models there is a tone control on the back of the organ when you remove the rear cover.
It’s on the tube preamp section of the instrument and it has a slot for a screwdriver 🪛 to adjust it.
Great comment, thank you!
I've been waiting for Toontrack to do a Hammond since I first got EZ Keys 1 ... way back when it was brand new. I was worried that when they finally did, it would disappoint me. No. They nailed it! They even added some surprising additions that make this thing even better than I'd hoped. I see why they took so long on this one.
Yes, worth the wait!
Thanks man just bought it sounds super Gr.Ness
You got it!
Great Video as always Shaun
Thank you, Rob! I'm curious how it compares to the other B3 software you have.
@@ShootieSchool oh, I think it's better. I don't have this one though yet going through a rough time right now don't have the money to buy it.
I see. Best of luck on your endeavors, Rob!
Ill bite at some point for sure! Gotta concentrate on dialing in my Pop Punk EZD3 custom presets with me new Millenium E-kit for a few live shows! Toontrack customer for life!
You know it!
Thumbs up before I have even seen it. This thing isn't going on sale for a couple of years, maybe ever. Might have to make a full price purchase exception though and then set a calendar appointment to dive in to this video.
Uriah Heep was my 1st call to a mission of metal but they could be overbearing at times on the keys. Just thinking about it and queuing this up for work :) Current bands like Sasquatch that have that majestic loud tube amp rock sound might use Hammond Organ in the studio sparingly and tastefully.
I would be somewhere between that in my fantasies of Doom and Sludge on early overcast July Mornings.
Well, Thomann can save a few bucks, and Thommann bundles can save more if you want to go all in.
When you put this to a metal track, give me a shout!!
Got one question though
... the rotary control pre-set ... what actual preset sounds does it include other than actual control of the rotary functions e.g. speed up and down? .... is it using the "Basic" preset ... then you can control the rotary ... but what about other effects other than the rotary related options ... would love to be able to control the rotary speeds on "all" different pre-sets as needed ... any idea?
The Rotary Preset has it's own behind the scenes treatment for tone. Other than that, what you see in the Effects Panel is what you get. It's the tradeoff using the EZ line. Not sure if other B3 style VSTs go further than Toontrack on this.
Hi Shootie, after checking out so many of your excellent Toontrack uploads, Ive been thinking about going all in on toontrack thanks to all your hard work , but I got a simple question which is, I don't like a lot of their midi packs that they sell for EZKeys 2, so am I allowed to make my own midi add on packs for ezkeys and or ezybass and sell them ? thanks.
MIDI is MiIDI so you can make and sell what you want. However, of course you wouldn’t be able to state it’s a Toontrack add-on pack but I would think you could say it’s for any DAW and is compatible with EZKeys etc. Groove Monkey make drum MIDI and Smash Up The Studio have keyboard MIDI for sale all compatible with DAWs and EZ things!
Hi ShiningHourPop, OK thanks for your kind reply I think will have to look into it a bit more , So at the moment is there 3rd party midi pack s that I can buy for Ezkeys2, that will open just the same way in ezkeys 2 as Ezkeys 2 official packs?@@ShiningHourPop
@@robertgoldbornatyout Smash Up The Studio make MIDI keyboard stuff and Groove Monkey make drum
MIDi, and indeed any MIDI, can be imported into EZ programmes and then stored as USER MIDI. It still shows up in the lists of MIDI patterns but as they’re independent of Toontrack, their format is different (they may have fewer variations, split into verse/chorus etc.) It’ll be up to you to decide how you want to format your own MIDI. Shootie has done a video on importing Groove Monkey MIDI into EZDrummer and it’s the same principle for EZK, EZD & EZB.
Shining has a great answer. Simply see what other 3rd party sellers are doing. I've thought about this a ton of time. Maybe someday.
Welcome to Toontrack!
I have the IK Hammond… how would compare the sound quality?
I’ve never used it before.
Hammond XK-5 is the name of the Organ this digital organ is from Hammond themselves
Thanks for that!
Maybe a stupid question, but how can I load up the songs you had in this video ? I do not mean the grooves but this particular songs you inserted during your presentation. I do not find this function ?
These song were not premade. I spent a minute on each just dragging the parts out.
There is no double 61 keyboard controller to be found! Where do you found one?
Hammond make one for $4k. "Hammond SKX Pro Dual 61-key Stage Keyboard/Organ". You could just use 2 controller for a few hundred if budget was an issue.
Q. Is there an easy way to copy the chord track from one instance of EZK2 to another and/or to EZBass?
If you have both instances open, you should be able to drag from one to another. If not, let me know the particular situation.
@@ShootieSchool Not sure what I was doing wrong before, but, it copied over without a problem this time, thanks! 😃
@markrichardsmusic thanks for being a member!
I think that Toontrack sort of point it out but I did get caught out with the organ volume/expression pedal being mapped to the sustain pedal on the non Session Organ libraries so it took me a few minutes to think why is this so loud/soft all the time,,,,,,,,,,so i,m thick but just telling anybody who is equally
Valid point!
What was that view of the back of leslie ?
It's on the product page at toontrack.com
How does it compare to the UAD version?
I've not done any comparisons.
Based on my listening impression and experience with 1+2 (and what you get for the money):
1. IK B-3X (offers the most features, including a loop with pedalboard and its a bargain in the deal) > ua-cam.com/video/vEn7ZBE6pfQ/v-deo.html
2. UAD Waterfall B3 (sounds best in terms of preamp and Leslie; if it had a loop for pedals like IK or routing to the amp, it would be unbeatable, and I would also pay 400 bucks for it) > ua-cam.com/video/2V5DfYasIeM/v-deo.html
3. Session Organ (only based on what I've heard; whether I buy it remains uncertain - I quite liked the preset with the Rotary & Amp, but not enough detail was provided)
"Like a guitar volume pedal at the BEGINNING of your signal chain"... good job on the review though.
Thanks! I don't know how Expression is actually wired, it just sounds post to me, not pre.
