In the final clip I think he roars “David!” and then follows with “Dear Heaven, take me!”. Fuckin goosebumps. And the sad music makes the set that much more outstandin.
@Ramon FutureWSM real fcking talk! Ive been through hell over the years and lifting is the only thing for me that makes sense and keeps me sane and grounded. Without it I wouldn't be here.
@Ramon FutureWSM Pretty much. I started powerlifting after I found out the girl I loved with all of my heart, and the girl I gave my virginity to cheated on me (and in one of the most brutal ways).
Business Paris He said that sometimes he thinks of his dead relative when trying to get that last rep. If he completes it, he gets to bring them back to life.
george operated by pure emotion when it came to completely serious sets that decided if he progressed or not. but he would actually dive into the emotion which i don't expect many people here to understand at all. he would become the emotion in that moment from head to toe
it makes me literally tear up as well, george brought serious intensity to the training scene seen almost nowhere else and still to today. pete rubish of course during his same era brought the same intensity in a different way, but you just don't see this type of raw stuff really anymore. i think george experienced bullying to such a degree during school that not many people can really understand it. he was public about it happening but never went into detail about it. i think if they had ever approached him outside of school especially right before his 909 lb american record pull, that he would still be in prison today
I can almost feel the unbridled, eruption of rage radiatin thru my iPad. Glorious. Side note: @1:00 if I seen someone easily thrash that amount of weight in competition, I’d leave immediately.
Thomas Broden Muscle strength wise you don't gain anything but the support around your muscles and tendons from the fat keeps things solid and that helps a lot with just pushing mad weight. And of course eating enough to get fat as fuck will give you hella strength gains anyways
Deadlift though get's harder the fatter you get, because of leverages for deadlifting getting worse the bigger your belly becomes. George said it himself once, and you can see that the biggest guys with the biggest squats have a "light" deadlift compared to their squats and their bodyweight.
Thomas Broden Not really, when I bulk my squat and bench goes up but my deadlift gets harder since my gut fat gets in the way of lockout thus forcing me to grip wider. Hook grip won't help the issue either.
Johnathan. Aviles There's a reason behind the name baby slayer. You see when George was a young kid he had a baby brother named David that had cancer I believe. Anyways his parents were incredibly religious so they didn't treat David with modern medicine and David died as a result of it. George felt like it was his fault for and long story short he uses the death of his little brother as a way to prepare for these massive lifts. He speaks about it in multiple videos. Edit: Also he call himself baby slayer because he feels responsible for Davids death if it wasn't clear
@@thatfatasiankid5701 holy shit. That is fucking...terrible. thanks for elaborating. I've since learned about David. But that babyslayer shit. I think I watched a video where he relates it to educating childish powerlifters on forums. I think it's in his 909 lift video. But your version sounds much cooler.
Ritchie Drama whatever dude, ik Eddie has the heaviest deadlift in the world but that lift was in a competition that follows way different rules, eddies lift had straps, a suit, and was slightly hitched. George had a singlet and his bare hands to lift that 909.
In the final clip I think he roars “David!” and then follows with “Dear Heaven, take me!”. Fuckin goosebumps. And the sad music makes the set that much more outstandin.
@Ramon FutureWSM Very true.
At first I thought this was a stretch but then saw videos where he says he thinks of his deceased brother David often when he deadlifts.

does getting fat as fuck really give you anymore strength gains than just like a 500-1000 calorie surplus?

Bonechilling speech.
Eddie Hall laughing😂
reinoaventura1988 Eddie hall pulls with a deadlifting suit. He has absolutely nothing on George.
Are you fucking JOKING? LOL.
Ritchie Drama no lol
Then you are an absolute idiot and do not even understand a damn thing about powerlifting or lifting in general.
