@1972jewish If you can dance a pavana properly and try to dance it, you'll realize it's played ad the right speed. It's not fast, it's that divisions are fast as hell :)
Excellent performance! It is highly acceptable and expected to play Pavanes and other ancient dance forms faster than they would have been played in their day. Today, older music will have to please the ear first and maybe the foot later. Once again, a wonderful rendition, played effortlessly. Thank you.
You played with so much sense rhythmic structures and the harmonics as well, it felt just like reading this piece and understanding it at first sight. Thank you.
I've been working on this song for about 2 weeks now and boy is it difficult, I've pieced together a good portion of the song, but to be able to play as quickly and as consistently as you...I can't imagine how much practice that will take hehe. However I shall strive, with your playing ability as the final prize!
so what is the difference between a baroque lute and a renaissance lute? (besides the amount of strings used to play the two instruments) Please explain to me!!
Fantastic technique. However, the pavan (or padoana) was a slower, more gracious dance. The saltarello (from "saltare" which means to jump) and piva (named after the oboe used with bagpipes in Northern and Central Italy) from the same suite by Dalza would be better suited for that energy.
@DikranMarsupial I followed your directions to the Sarge Gerbode's site, however I was not able to find the said tablature for pavana alla venitiana, could you possibly help me out a little more?
@markskatz Thank you, your comment fills me with joy; I any little I can do by fooling around here, I am the happiest person in the world. Send me a video of you playing greensleeves!
Do you have the tab for this exact version or where can I find it. Sounds like Paul's version. Anyways, great playing. I saw your video years ago and finally searched it again.
I love when people play dances so that you could actually dance to them - wonderful rhythmic sense.
Great playing!!! Thank you for sharing.
ANY lute music is, and forever will be, truly beautiful! 🙂
Oh the lute is such a beautiful instrument...

Thanx for your suggestion about posting italian music, my friend! :)

You know where I can learn this piece good sir?
I picked up the lute because of you! Just learned greensleeves, however the sound is bad, I need to work on technique
Aaaappppieeeee
What do you mean?
Thanks! ;) Very hard to believe, anyway, there's the same pavane played by Paul O'Dette.... look for it :)
@Zenophage holy crap ur right!
Bello...
@DikranMarsupial ok, thank you very much!!!!
@Elstir12 il modello di liuto che vedi è a 6 cori (1 coro = 2 corde); i modelli con più cori hanno, ovviamente, un manico molto più largo. ciao ;)
@bremehn wow i was thinking the exact same thing
Very good. Curious to know who is the lute maker. Is the lute based on the Venice Magno dieffopruchar, isn't it?
Are you using a 6-course or what? You are so good!!!!
nice piece luteplayer80~..
wonder if i cud play it on my oud..which is somesort of lute itself..
wat's d standard tuning of a lute may i ask?..
@SerathGodOfRock thanks. helped a little :D
Yes, more italian music please (some Da Milano ?)
Val ;-)
I've never played a lute, but I play guitar/bass usually. Does playing the lute feel similar to playing guitar?
I want to learn the lute soo bad.....Too expensive though :(

It looks like my mandolin, I wonder if I can play it with my mandolin, too? Maybe not :(
@markskatz Thank you, your comment fills me with joy; I any little I can do by fooling around here, I am the happiest person in the world. Send me a video of you playing greensleeves!

Hey! Sorry for answering so late. Yes, I have the tabature
@markskatz thank you very much! :)
Impressive work. Is that an 8-course or a 7-course? I can't see with the vid quality as is.
Ninguem è Maestro. Obrigado! :)
Non ci capisco molto di liuti: come mai questo ha il manico così stretto? In genere hanno la tastiera decisamente più larga...
the oud sound is sharper?
can you send me the lute tablature please? thank you a lot.
p.s: BRAVOOOOOOO
is that a cat opening up the lute case? I enjoyed this btw.
hey are there tabs for this
how old is that instrument? it sounds good
Man, did the beatles use these at all, or what about pink floyd?
Thank you, I'm afraid you're far too kind.
Look for Paul O'Dette version, anyway :)
Nice lighting. JK
No. My right hand thanks you
He looks like Serj Tankian
you should be a bard and sing about tales of some adventure or something!

Yo diría, en español,que eres un "virguero". O sea, "wow".
Nice music, but I don't think it really sounds like a lute.
