I daydream about having more freedom sometimes.. like freedom to go out and ride my horse. Freedom to read a book at will. Garden. All the things. And I have to sit back and remind myself that for 14 years we begged god for kids.. now 4 kids deep all 5 and under and who knows how many more kids will bless us with still sense we’re 38 already. I try to sit and enjoy this season of life. I’ve found my identity in my kids in this season for sure! From cloth diapering to homeschooling they are both addictions we can acquire for sure!!! And I know 20 years from now life will look diffrent too if god carries us to that age!😊
I totally agree and wanted to add that as a mom of a mix of adults and teens we actually will always have a place as a teacher to our children. It just changes and becomes something so much more. As rewarding as I found homeschooling my adult children when they were young I am blessed all the more to be the person they come to when they need more teaching now. We never stop learning and growing and having fostered that relationship in their childhood they still come to me now and we enjoy that time together .
@@Kiki-fe2le don’t cry, momma! Count it all joy that the Lord blessed us with these kids ❤️ They’ll still need you after they are grown, in some cases they’ll need you even more.
Homeschool is one of the things I do, its my job but not all of who I am. My oldest is now in high school and honestly she's been independent of her own volition since the elementary years. My role with her is more guidance counseling, helping her build strategies for time management, school work priorities and communication with online teachers. My son is still in elementary so I do most of my one on one instruction with him. Its all definitely changed since they were younger but I've found that being intentional with their academic goals and life skills goals has helped me to enjoy where we're at each year. I also choose something to focus on for me each year which helps me to not lose other aspects of myself while continuing to grow. The end of homeschool will not be the end of me. Christ first!
Thank you for this video! Its such a good reminder! At what age did you notice your kids becoming more independent in their school work? (If you already addressed it in this video or another video, its possible I missed it..sorry about that if so 😁). I love how you related teaching them independence in their school work as college prep. I found in my own experience in college that to succeed..it took a lot of self initiative..study, taking it upon myself to go meet with my professors during their office hours if I was struggling in a certain subject, etc. Great video and thank you so much! My kids are 10, 9,9, and 5 😁
@@tanya4149 I think it really depends on the child, so take this with a grain of salt. My youngest really started being independent last year (grade 7), and my oldest was around grade 5. But it depends on a lot of factors like personality, preference, type of curriculum you’re using, subjects and how advanced they are, etc
Good morning, mommas! Did you get a winter wonderland this week? We did!
Missouri has gone from freezing rain storm, snow storm. Freezing sub zero temps… so over it!! Hauling water to horses is getting old lol 😆
@@Commonmomhomeschooler I lived in Missouri before moving back to the Carolina’s, and snow was constant there. I missed it when we moved here!
