I watched an interview with her and her mental capacity is at least on par or higher than most VS models.
Agreed. 10/10 would bang for her intelligence.

I saw a documentary about a Spanish man with Down syndrome studying psychology. And I worked with people with Down syndrome which had problems to dress themselves properly. They have a wide spectrum of cognitive capacity.
But is it right to sexualise someone with DS? No ones saying they are stupid
@@liverbirdxoxo1984 Yes it is, because they're people. Some having learning difficulties, that's wrong. But many do not, in which it's perfectly okay. So as long as she has the mental capacity, which many people with DS do, then it's totally fine.

But this girl is actually shaped like a human. Bert? Not so much.
A few of the kids who were in the special ed class of students with severe learning disabilities came to my senior prom. One of the girls came up and demanded that I dance with her, so for one song I did. And I could see how happy it made her. People with disabilities are still people with human feelings and impulses - we shouldn't pity them, we should respect them by not making their existence seem like a hassle for us or a nightmare for them.
Sounds kinda like rape...
I couldn't agree more, I have a big respect for those people, I mean they really can't help who they are, that they got these "disabilities"
I don't pity them I pity those who think they are less than 'normal' ppl..
@@ryleyw3684 some aren't even disabilities. Just built different
I was in special ed and those chicks the wanted D. They're totally normal
I just hope this girl has someone advocating for her along with advocating for herself. She could easily get taken advantage of. People with downs syndrome have dreams, passions, sexual urges, a want to be desired/loved, and all the things "normal" people feel and want to do. I'm all for it if she has someone in her corner every step of the way.
Shut up man... having down syndrome doesn't mean she totally helpless. Give her some credit
Plus this comment is just stupid. No one needs to be told that people with down syndrome have the same urges and desires as everyone else. OF COURSE THEY DO! Wtf
Someone in her corner with the keys to her bank acct.
My friends sister had DS, and every day i came home from school she just wanted to throw bricks at us...I had to walk around the block and approach my house from the opposite end of the street just to avoid her....There was no hint of her wanting to be desired/loved, she just wanted to cave our heads in...

Just asking.
@@leomulgrew1509 I can realistically influence people to consider not paying for animals to die unnecessarily, but people at large are not causing the two mistreatments of humans that you mentioned.
@@itswrongtokillanimalsifyou2837
Politely, I disagree. Every time we engage with the Chinese economy we are tacitly supporting the CCP, who are directly responsible for the two atrocities I mentioned (& others).
If a critical mass of people drastically changed their habits, & educated themselves about totalitarian regimes, that regime could definitely be brought down, or at worst bullied into change.
Hell, a single book - gulag, played a major part in bringing the Soviet Union down.
I believe that there is enough evidence to suggest we could realistically stop the atrocities I mentioned within our lifetimes. Politely, more evidence than we could alter the diet of billions of people.
No hate, I’m glad people like u are out there doing what u believe is right.
I’m just morbidly fascinated as to why people seem more distressed by animal suffering, than by the human suffering happening right now..

The hire is a weird choice for all the reasons Tom and Christina highlighted. What about the decision to Photoshop her eyes closer together. It seems anti woke to Photoshop her physical symptoms of a condition they are trying to highlight, unless they are leaning into the sexualization, which is gross.
The do photoshop every other model. If they didn't do it to her pictures because she looks different because of down syndrome then they'd be treating her differently than the other models so you see the right thing to do is to photoshop her eyes closer together. Technically, they're treating her like everyone else.

People with Down Syndrome normally get a full psychological evaluation that includes an assessment of decision-making-capacity and consent capacity. This evaluation determines the level of independence they can have to make decisions such as medical treatment, reproduction, relationships, work (modeling for Victoria’s Secret), etc.
I’m a big fan of you guys, keep it up! ❤️
My wife worked with developmentally and physically disabled for some time. You are right on the money. She can't do anything that's outside her capacity.
My 29 year-old brother with DS has never received that evaluation. Is that something when they don't have a guardian, their parents die, etc.?
Touch my hot sauce through the fence my baby.
Shut the fuck up Chomo, follow Proto.
@@williambartholmey5946 Not necessarily. Sometimes there might be a conflict between the patient's and their guardian's wishes. In that case, an assessment of capacity can be performed to determine the level of understanding that the patient has. I am not sure whether this is absolutely needed for all the people with Down Syndrome but I do know it is an available tool and I personally would like to provide my family member the opportunity to choose within their competence. I am a physician but this is not my area of expertise, I hope my answer helped a little. Best wishes :)

It’s hard enough to navigate it without being sexually assaulted when you do have all of your faculties about you. Something does seem off about this?!…hmm

Without the make-up and photoshopping she'd look like a pug. Let's be honest here.

It's also ridiculous how people assume people with disabilities are somehow supposed to be ugly. As if we can't be attractive because we have disabilities. People are actually surprised when you're not some monstrosity.
Tbh i never gave it that much thought but the word disabled implies unattractive when we shouldn't connect the two. Good point
@@adamholt09 There's also a stigma among "normal" people that anyone who's disabled but looks "normal" is somehow a liar and faking their illnesses. Mental disabilities aren't always going to show up in an outward appearance the same way a wheelchair or missing limbs would. Some physical ones don't show outwardly either but will manifest when a person is doing tasks or other physical activities. The old adage of "don't judge a book by it's cover" applies.
That's just human nature. You don't see species mating with the mutated one in the herd
I'm not a model, but I'm not ugly. Nobody ever believes me when I say I'm disabled due to spina bifida oculta (and other things), until I raise my shirt up and you can see the scars from the 70+ surgeries I've had in my 36 years. Everything tends to carry a stigma attached, with disabilities it's disabled = disfigured.
"People who have disabilities" is such a broad category as to almost be meaningless.
My favorite part is the background laughter. Makes me feel like I have a friend laughing with me.
I understand that feeling. It feels wrong because we view her as innocent. It’s similar to viewing her as a child and how we would feel if a 14 year old girl was suddenly modeling lingerie.

@@themonsterunderyourbed9408 No she isn't, she is disabled and that's a fact. Doesn't mean she has to die alone in a hole. But if you gonna sexualize her and use her as a product ( as you said, everybody else is exploited so fair game ), at least she needs to know what is up and more importantly, THE PUBLIC ( CUSTOMERS ) too. If she has only physical symptoms and she is a functioning 24 yo woman then i have no problem. If she is a 7yo mind in a 24yo body and is being used for this type of work by her guardians and companies, we're way beyond sexualization and deep into child exploitation, that's the big deal here.
There's different levels of Down Syndrome, she most likely is very high functioning. There are some people with DS that can take care of themselves and live on their own, the only difference might be some physical differences.
Bro her comments were so ignorant, it made my fucking head spin. Like yes it’s a conversation but she didn’t need to be so committed to that ignorance lol tom at least was a little more delicate but she straight up is acting like people with disabilities can’t do anything for themselves. Ick
@@partiallyhealedsunburn1881 Yeah, I hate people like that. I have a physical disability but I work full time, own my own home and do my own yard work. I'm sure this girl is perfectly capable of taking care of herself.
@@mollynash2597 Yeah, they each made some poorly thought out and insensitive comments. I think a big problem was that it took a serious issue about sexual consent and morality and immediately turned into a crass bit that made a lot of assumptions and (ironically, considering the worry about objectifying the girl) and spoke about her in a way that implied she was less than a person.
Whether or not someone with an intellectual disability can consent or not or if it's immoral to have casual sex or hook up with them are interesting questions though; especially when society tends to take it for granted that people with intellectual disabilities still have sex drives.
She isn't that high functioning. She's fucked bruh. They put on so much make up and do a lot of touch up afterwards.
There are people with Down Syndrome with above average intelligence and some even in the gifted range. People need to be aware of this.
The laughter from the other room has got me doubled over lmao
The thing is, with down syndrome most of us feel a bit like, it's the wonderful mind of a child but permanently.
So it feels similar to sexualized children. It's uncomfortable. I don't really know what to think of it.
Of course she has the right to do what she wants like everyone else.
In any other context you would never sexualize someone with down's in the same way you wouldn't with a child unless you got something going on up there.
It's a strangely conflicting feeling.
That said, you guys in the comments ain't got a shot with this girl. Lmao get ready for some awkward rejections.
Yeah, except that’s a common misconception and isn’t true, they just mature later. People need to look in to the different kinds of it before making assumptions lol
I have a box of Legos and some Gogurt. I think I got a shot.
I completely understand why it feels uncomfortable to sexualize mentally handicapped adults...but we have to understand that many of mentally handicapped folks are in touch with there sexuality and do indeed have sex themselves. So I mean...
@@Phogramo I think, without trying to be diminishing, it is fair to say that it's not quite the same.
And as such the concern remains at the very least partially. Especially since not all people are the same.
There are good reasons that we help people with this neurodivergence, and the help doesn't necessarily stop at any particular age.
@@lazyblazer Oh absolutely. I'm not exactly against her being a model, not in the least. I'm just trying to put my feelings into words somehow to process them.
I mean how would I feel if someone without any "major" neurodivergence were to sleep with someone with down syndrome? I think quite genuinely I would feel like there was a level of someone being taken advantage of. It's hard to shake that feeling even though I want everyone to be able to lead lives according to their wishes.

It reminds me of that video where these people thought they were saving this tortoise by throwing it into the lake, not knowing that a tortoise and a turtle are not the same thing, "but its close enough".
The industry is the same regardless. the problem is glorifying mental defects. Encouraging these people to breed is dangerous. Nature rejects defects for a reason. Animals reject defects 100% of the time. The world does not need another defective brain breeding. overpopulation is already the biggest issue. We dont need sick/defective people breeding.
They don't all have the same mentality and throwing a blanket statement out like all people with Down syndrome have the mentality of a child is extremely offensive. For some it's just a physical disfigurement it's not always an extreme mental disorder.

Are you willing to climb the same ladder to success?
@@Ryfinius if they had to climb the same ladder they wouldnt have any opportunities let be honest 💀
Doesn't down syndrome have a wide spectrum like pretty much every other condition? From Sofia's inverviews it seems that she isn't a very harsh case. She understands all the questions asked and answers as you would expect from most "normal" people.
exactly, I noticed that too. People seem to lump everyone together and everyone is unique and has varying mental capacity. Hers seems to be pretty high. She also works out a lot! *Most, are wired different and have physical limitations butvagain, she seems to not fit the mold and while on the small side, she is in great shape!
Most people write the questions themselves and practice before filming so you never know
So we can J our Ds to her then.
First off, who the hell jerks it to VS models anymore lol. Second off, it's one model. 3rd, look at her. She's gorgeous.
3:02 if only we had a colored version of the center pic 😜🍒
With an average IQ of less than half an unaffected person, it would appear to be exploitation considering the complexity of the contract that she no doubt signed. Most people with an IQ of 100 would have difficulty understanding a corporate media contract, let alone an individual with half that.
@dick trickle what? You know people with downs have low IQ right? Usually it's between 30 and 50 points lower than average.
“ The average intelligence quotient (IQ) of children with DS is around 50, ranging between 30 and 70.”
Tell me, would it have been wrong to fuck the girl with Down syndrome at my high school? The one who struggled to do basic tasks and control her emotions/behaviors? Some of these people don’t have a great grasp on things, yet you guys seem to want to make it acceptable to sexualize them? You know who else has reduced mental capabilities? Women who are drunk/on drugs, and it’s considered rape to do anything with them obviously. I think it’s a bad idea to start sexualizing people with Down syndrome, I don’t mind normal modeling but the idea is that you want to fuck them. Imagine a young kid sees this, and goes and takes advantage of the girl with Down syndrome at school because he doesn’t know any better. That’s the type of shit that would happen, because if you just sexualize them without first talking about this then people are going to assume it’s ok in all cases. We probably need to have tests to determine if they can consent to these type of things, like how there’s probably ways they stay under guardianship if they aren’t capable of making decisions for themselves as an adult.
That’s why people hire lawyers
Exactly, so why does it matter if she understands it? “Normies” can’t! Anybody getting involved with a big contract like that would have a trusted lawyer/agent review it.
@@christophercollins3632 It's the intent of the organization. Knowingly entering into a contract with someone of diminished intellectual capacity is predatory. The situation is compounded when it is in an industry that is based on exploiting people for their looks.
Tom’s facepalm made my day hahahaha
Sofia is quite high functioning. Definitely at J to D level functioning.
So she can make porn? Cool. Where's that OF account at?
Her vagina ain't handicapped.
I'd hit it just for the story.
Some sick fucks out here.
Tad, can you even J your own D? T my C through the F
I'm not an expert but there is a spectrum to Down's, depending on what part of one of the chromosome number 21 and how much of it is is double, etc. Just by her facial features it looks like she has a less severe case. It must be frustrating for people in her situation if they are independent and intelligent. I'm sure they want to be able to have a relationship with "normal" people too and not just other people with similar disabilities. But I too doubt that she is aware that there is more to this than just some innocent underwear photos. Pretty weird on VS's part and they know full well that it will be hard to say anything against it without coming off as a patronising ableist bigot and what-have-you, even though their motif really IS rather questionable
There is no spectrum to Down's Syndrome.
@@LateTeens709 My husband works in a facility that supports people of various genetic defects and deviations, including people with Down's syndrome. And though they all have certain typical characteristics in common, the degrees in which those manifest can vary drastically. There are those few on the upper extreme that manage to go to college, and there are those on the lower end that aren't even able to speak or do even the simplest tasks on their own. So yeah, there is indeed a spectrum to Down's.
That being said, I agree almost completely with Tom and Tina in this particular case.
@@durchhalter My daughter has down syndrome. There is NO spectrum. Someone with Down's who you might perceive as "having it worse than others" most likely has a dual diagnosis of Down's and Autism (Which has a spectrum).
You either have Down's syndrome or you do not. That's all there is to it.
@@LateTeens709 I get what you are saying and the “spectrum” for downs people vary greatly in “function ability.” For example, my older brother has Downs and he is high function, goes to work, makes dinner, talks to his friends/family on the phone while I have also seen downs people that can’t tie a show or carry a conversation.
@@LateTeens709 there are different types of mutations that all fall under Down's syndrome. You could have part of a third copy of chromosome 21 translocate to chromosome 14 and bind to that, you could have trisomy only in some cells but not in others (mosaicism), etc etc. All that shows itself in the form of varying degrees of disability, that's why I said "spectrum". It might not be defined as being a spectrum, but there sure as hell are people with Down's that have it worse because of these different causes for their trisomy 21
the most sincere and rational conversation ever, and it came from a podcast of some comedians
This woman’s mental capacity is actually way higher than most of the friends I have 😂 she is definitely high functioning.
As a boy I had at least several months of Victoria's Secret catalogues under my bed we all know especially young people are going to sexualize models.
The photo behind Tom looks like Sal vulcano as a Union soldier
I think Christina is jealous that the little goofball is hotter than her 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
😂
The laughter in the backround is the perfect icing on the cake.
1:45 that was really sweet by Tom
She's good looking. As far as her mental capacity goes, it's hard to care, since we all know VS never cared. So good for her.
Christina never change that Downs joke about the other models was amazing.
It's so sad that she feels like it's a genuine accomplishment but she's actually being used as a token
They wiped 50% of the DS look with photoshop on that pic tho
The first time I ever j’d my d was when I saw a VS catalog in our mail. I would then get the mail everyday, and if there was a catalog, that shit would not make it to my mom and sisters until at LEAST 3 days after it actually came in. It’s kind of uncomfortable to think about a kid having that same experience today, but the model they’re throwin ropes to has downs.
Idk what country you're in, but if you have internet, none of them kids are taking a second glance at mail catalogs.
J'd yer d, huh?
Ropes?
Somehow that just doesn't seen possible.
@@acb9896 It doesn’t seem possible that you were the one in a million sperm that made it either, yet here we are
Did your mother wonder why all the pages were stuck together ?
Youd come for the mail and then you would hand your mail that you came in
In the beginning of the video you can see Tom is trying to hold himself from clowning. It's just instinct for him. I can relate😂
She's probably one of the smarter models.
ahhahahha
Splendid comment!
probably most bangable too
Unfortunately children have been sexualized recently in TV/Films and other ways in recent years, so VS hiring this woman is a strange thing. And Tom you absolutely nailed it with how the VS models are sexualized and they know it 1000%.
they have been sexualized ever since the abrahamic god impregnated a young virgin 2000 years ago
I wouldn’t say just recent, children have been sexualized for a very long time unfortunately
Honestly the more I watch these people the more I start to realize that they aren’t actually good people just some judgmental snobby comedians, I mean if you count Christina as a comedian…
The first VC model where a Lego collection will give you an 'in'.
Legos are the best
@@GK-jl8jh I'm counting on that so I can get in her special sauce. 😏
Straight up will say I’m uncomfortable with this but also don’t want that feeling from a collective to hold her back in anyway. Modeling industry is notorious for being exploitative, just hope it doesn’t happen to her and that she has people in her life to protect her from a bad experience. Overall Tom is right that this is a Net Positive for Down syndrome inclusion. Just hope that she isn’t being taken advantage of, and I think that underlying assumption is what makes this hard to swallow. Whether that’s an internally held prejudice or a realistic concern I would say is up to debate because even I’m not sure.
Too late bro.
Inclusivity means anyone can be exploited.
@@please.665 And almost anyone can choose to take that chance of being exploited. We don’t know her mental capacity in detail, but there are many people out there that are willing to be exploited to be internet famous.
@@elephantgrass631 It's the society. I'm telling you.
@@please.665 I’d blame social media, but look who controls it. Its designed to do such things and put these type of people in power. They even want to take power away from parents to prevent such things in the name of “equality and representation”.
“J your D”
*Hysterical laughter in the background
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was a real conversation and I appreciate it.
9:04 There are times where I think Tom's arm hair is a tattoo and I try to read it
I couldn’t really focus on the rest of this podcast cuz Christina’s first comment about models with downs stole the show 😂
So I worked with those with Mild through severe mental (R).
I use the R because I know some people like to be offended by whats been a medical term for basically forever and cant not think of it like a child.
Moving on....I have also worked in the past with several individuals with Down syndrome and will say that within that category there is actually a large contrast in mental ability.
So while I would say that some in that group certainly could never truly understand a decision this girl has decided to make others in the group absolutely can.
I suspect she likely has above a 70 Iq if tested (The avg being mid 50) and the general pop Iq being about 100.
Ill just say this....I have seen those with Down SYndrome preplan ahead and devise strategies to manipulate those around them....I have also helped one individual pass their GED.
If they can do that...she can make the decision to be a model.
There are down syndrome couples who are married and shocker....yes they have sex.
That isnt everyone....but with relatively low supervision many can live fairly normal lives like the rest of us.
Many cant also....its on a case by case basis.
So, like spectrums? Make sense. Not too far off from autism
In all fairness, you're posting this on a channel that has 'FGTRTD' prominently in the background... but if you did use the word, youtube probably would have shadowbanned your comment to the very back of the comments, so there's that.
You use the R word.
I say use it. It's the correct medical term. I think if you start to curtail the usage of the proper term it gives them the illusion of being right and making others think its wrong to say it. Besides that good points
The phrase "Mentally Retarded" hasn't been used as a medical term in... well... forever!... but, sure! Let's pretend that it has been to justify our complete inability to change our language and grow as human beings. How hard is it to say "Intellectual Disability"? Too many syllables for you? How long has it been since you even had a job in the field? Because as a DSP and RBT, the latter of which requires a very specific set of terms to be used, I would at the very least suffer disciplinary actions for uttering that phrase. I have read and written many an IEP, IPP, Medication Administration Record, you fucking name it, and not a single time have I seen the phrase "Mentally Retarded." Not. Once.
let's be honest, she has a smoking body and is quite pretty. It's very confusing.
More power to her!! I just hope she’s safe being in the industry of “beauty” and all the true hell that comes with it!
Yes, most men would pass this woman by regardless of her body. We (all people not just men) are genetically predisposed to pass on potential mates who have obvious issues. I imagine most men who usually enjoy a nice bust and good curves on a woman had the same reaction.
"Most men" is not the concern.
Fool, most men would not "pass this women by".
Most men are also predisposed to be afraid of getting caught fucking someone with DS. If they were on a deserted island alone with her and could know for a fact no one would ever find out, however, the numbers would change dramatically I suspect (though I'm not sure that it would be such an indefensibly unethical thing to do).
To be fair I’m sure she has a higher IQ than many of the other Victoria’s Secret models.
yeah thats because most of the models are under 18
