Why is a complete rebalance of agility/thieving okay, but mining needs to be locked behind a pair of gloves?

Grace, the person where you redeem the marks of Grace, says specifically they are "her" marks. She is next to the thieves guild so my headcanon is that she is actually a thief that breaks into places to do freestyle parkourrunning illegally and than leaves marks for other freerunners.

the gloves went from cool for amethyst to essentially required for progression. unfortunate that gold and silver weren't really touched, i hope that jagex doesn't leave them alone forever.
I actually like that the regular mining buffs are tied to the gloves, actually gives you a good reason to get the gloves and it doesn't impact f2p mining that way either.
I also like having meaningful upgrades/gear unlocks within each skill. Skilling outfits and 2.5% is so marginal
Though it would be nice if each upgrade and outfit had multiple ways to get it. And instanced mining between players would be great so multiple people could mine the same rock
@@zachariahhowell4342facts 2.5% xp is so insignificant. I absolutely love any skilling outfits that have a unique to the skill and interesting effect like the smith's outfit or the thieving outfit.
When you said you had problems with the mining update, I was so ready to disagree... But you were so right, the difference with or without gloves is unhinged!

Currently this feels like they're pushing the progression to be mlm till level 60, you can do drop iron pre-gloves or stars till level 60 as well. Once you're 60 you do iron in mining guild till gloves, and then you have options to go back to mlm, granite, stars, more iron, and tbd about volc mine or blast mining being worth or not.
I think the take that regular ore rocks pre-gloves should be buffed is an interesting one. Someone else mentioned bots as a reason for being cautious to buff pre-glove mining, that gloves act as an arbitrary item lock. The price of ores would likely take a massive hit, most notably PvM bossing loot tables. I remember TOA launch absolutely tanked the price of ranarr/snap/torstol seeds.

brim haven is low-key really good, I get 64k exp while focusing , and get 54k exp when alching, but a huge part of it is the pirate hook sells on the ge, its over 500k gp per hour when you get it, then you can make 300-400k alching on top of that, so were talking 54k agility exp 54k-58k magic exp with 800k-900k gp per hour , for someone like me who's only been playing for over a month this exp is competitive and the gp is a massive benefit to get while skilling, its just free gold for me while leveling, 2 hours a day is getting me +200k total exp and +1.6mil gp, im at a point though where dont want to do magic with agility but I cant afford to take a loss on darts , im hoping by the time im 92 for hollowed sepulcher I have a good gp stash and can just do darts with hollowed sepulcher which will be better then alching in there anyways

Agreed. Hopping skilling is cringe. Mining gloves should work everywhere. While we are at it the Culinaromancer's Chest store should be instanced per player as well. Why do I have to world hop and compete against other irons that are buying out all the worlds too? It's just needlessly tedious, either make the shop instanced per player or make the stock infinite wtf are we doing with all this competitive bullshit? All it does is diminish my experience as a real player and benefits bots that day in and day out all they do is world hop and buy these stores out. Jagex has a long ways to go to fix these huge issues with the game but instead they are just shitting out new continents and content instead of addressing these more important issues.

Arcane said he dropped it because he couldn't figure out a way to make a shortcut that crosses a map load line without just teleporting you to the other side, but they still want to add it eventually

i really hope they come up with a solution that allows brimhaven to give ticket on first pillar but not enable hopping / teleporting out. just add an internal cooldown that gets reset if you world hop or something.
Its so nice to not feel like you can't take a break / afk / go do a herb and bird run while doing Brimhaven
i really really hope they take your advice on mining. make ores work like this and then we can balance around that, and make the gloves improve that rather than "create" that. I also REALLY hope they just take the time to fix F key spam methods so that "footpedal" skilling goes away and we can keep these buffs feeling good, rather than having to nerf the buff because people can exploit an unintended single camera position spam click method only enabled by random camera movement removal and UI moving.
I personally don't agree with your assessment of mining rates too. Granite being high rate is good, because its a useless output. So the balance factor is exactly that, you get nothing but XP.
Sandstone should definitelyb e lower as its essentially crafting banking for irons.
But 3t4g exists, and is 125k/hr. So granite is already king. I think "casual" granite mining being 90k/hr at 99 is *fine*. 100k is probably a bit too much.
YES! Why is there not just a forestry mechanic for ore rocks as well. Makes no sense that they have to deplete after one ore all the time.

new agility shortcuts are great imo
they are p nice yes! would be cool to have some short cutscene play for some of them and extend the time a little bit. 2t for a giga shortcut is strange

Mining and smithing rework on RS3 was unironically the best update to mining ever done.
You're not considering bots like they are. If you think about locks behind arbitrary items, for bot prevention, it makes sense
Bots were doing the coliseum on day 3 getting the gloves won't slow them down

@@heboxjonge They choose not to because they'd lose millions and 1/4th the player base though. Instead of fixing it, they just re-name or re-brand the game every 10 years sadly.

Imo jagex is moving too fast just to make things "better" without considering if its actually necessary to change things. I feel like a bit of suboptimal game design is forgivable because some flaws are what make OSRS feel like OSRS.
But then again, we are all playing with 3rd party clients with menu swaps and tile markers and custom loot beams and cannonball skins so it really isn't the same after all
Jagex should get rid of the thing where you have to do 5 slayer tasks to get points at all, that makes no sense.
I do like mlm is like 65 to 70k now if you lose minimal amount of ticks, new hopper and fally diary extra runite xp. Xp scaling and low afk time better vein timers, good
Slayer 2 pts for a task is insulting even at low lvl, before you can block or skip youll be at another master

Please stop making changes to cater to a group of new and loud players that doesn't actually like the game.
The same shit happened in world of Warcraft, where many small changes alienated the core veteran player base over time. Eventually, the new players that doesn't like the game at its core will leave anyways, and the game will be left dead and unrecognizable.
It's been like this for the past 5 years and now everyone is finally reaping what Jagex has been sowing. Forever changing polling to force sailing to pass is what finally drove me away.

@@ShadyRapture sep was proposed as not higher xp than rooftops cus of the loot it had, not saying that should happen but if sep was ~85-90k/h when players learned the content it would be a bit more balanced overall (its well over 100k/h now if the player is good)
