The Goodwill manager hovering over you while shopping and telling you the employees make $14.20/hr was odd and overbearing. The store probably has theft, but she shouldn’t harass the customers. The carriage house is cool.🏠
I had a visceral reaction to that interaction with the manager, it made me so uncomfortable just watching. 😬
She was so cringy. I would have left the store and not spend one penny there after giving her a piece of my mind because I'm very outspoken and she was just rude

I'm in Kentucky with an associate in accounting degree, & when I managed a Electrical Construction Company office just 10 years ago and they told me 12 an hour was the best I could do there. New York is expensive compared to KY, but now I wonder what my knowledge could bring me in another state ...

Yes they were way more professional than I would have been I would have put all the stuff back on the Shelf giving her a piece of my mind and walked out without spending a penny there

For one thing if it comes right off with alcohol, they should’ve wiped it off if it wasn’t their price. She was rude. And I like how you said I better turn around I don’t wanna get her in trouble, but then showed the rest of the shopping center that the Goodwill visit lol.
Can you really call it stealing if the person hasn’t passed the register yet and you’re already calling them thieves
I worked in retail for many years and technically you can't accuse somebody of stealing until they go OUT the door! But what she was doing (hanging around and chatting about the merchandise)is a common tactic they use if they feel like you are going to steal something. They think it deters thieves. I really find that comical because if you ARE a thief I don't feel like that would stop you. Thankfully that isn't your regular Goodwill.

My Kohl's I shop with a Kohl's beach bag which they provide for shoppers to put items in while they shop. The Goodwill clerk is suppose to give you the chance to pay before accusing you of stealing. Many companies have that as a line of action before pretty much apprehending a customer or accusing a customer. I wonder if she was within Goodwill's thrift policy. That would have bothered me too also it's humiliating if it was done in the open.

They were "$12.99" until she saw the camera and wanted to screw over a couple of resellers.

@@babayaga3098 you don't know what the reseller paid , you might be buying something you can't buy new anymore, you have to sell for the lowest posted price tag in the store ( that might vary state by state.) It's not the same. Always remember you don't need to buy from a reseller so if you're eluding to you yourself paying more money that was your choice. What the worker did here is wrong.
@@AnthonyBottari I absolutely agree that what the worker did was wrong. All I said is that resellers do in fact do the exact same thing. They’ll go out to goodwill and buy things that are in one way or another in demand, then move up the price and sell it again. Just like this employee noticing the shoes were clearly interesting/in demand and suddenly deciding to make a big show of upping the price. They both do it and they’re both in the wrong

So true… I am from the South and I think she was rude. I might have pulled a Pretty Women scene & filled the cart with Rothy’s & said I was going to buy all of them! Then walk out.
so, our experience here in the Lehigh Valley, PA, Goodwill is super expensive....we actually slowed down fully on our goodwill shopping and focus more on shopping from private thrift stores, Liberty thrift is great as are the thrift stores in Lancaster county......I feel like goodwill has gotten somewhat greedy with their pricing so we also will take our items that we want to donate to the thrift stores in Lancaster county

I like you challenging the goodwill. The prices are ridiculous. They aren't at the will of prices going up because their merchandise is FREE. this was for people to buy cheap, used stuff. What's even crazier is buying stuff from there and then I resonate and they charge again getting maybe $20 a peice over the life of it.
I love watching you two enjoy/experience snow with so much joy. In Wisconsin it is so common that we don't enjoy it so easily.

The min. wage in NJ is 14.13 an hour.

She wasn’t accusing them of stealing. Just telling them those aren’t bags to shop with. How can they tell apart a shopper or someone who’s already checked out possibly waiting on someone else? Use common sense. You shop with a cart and then load your stuff into bags.

You have to bring your own bags in NY but you use their carts first then at checkout you use your own bag.

All the Goodwill stores,do not have bags.and now they sell them for $2.
In my area if you bring your own bags, check in at the counter and show them you have your own bags.
Don't use them until you check out and then fill your Goodwill bags.
In THE MIDWEST, we have complained about Rude employees and not having bags or boxes.
People stop buying for a while
Now most of the stores actually welcome the customers to bring their own bags
I keep my receipts in my wallet to show I paid for GW bags.
A hint T.J.Maxx has durable shopping bags for $1 unfortunately they have become smaller but still very sturdy.
Also during Christmas season you can find sturdy plastic coated bags in solid colors or plaid. We use them all year.
Can find some that don't have writing or sorta small lettering.
I keep them in my trunk,for groceries and stores that don't have bags.
My fave part was watching you guys enjoy everything related to snow on your car. Stuff we take for granted or see as a pain… the memory of your giggles will def change my attitude twds my car the next snow!

I couldn’t deal with a manager like that. I’d have left the shoes! I won’t let someone treat me like that and trigger my anxiety when I haven’t done anything wrong. I was just at a thrift store where they tried to backtrack on price, telling me that it was tagged wrong and I wouldn’t get the sale price. I just left it and their precious item. It’s deceptive and wrong, and if you can’t honor your own price, I’m out. 🙌

I live in Upstate New York (the opposite side of the state from where you are) and I avoid Goodwills here as much as I can. Before Covid they went from 50% off the color of the week to only 40% off and also the pricing went up. Also, I shop with my reusable bag all the time and treat it like a cart when I’m just picking up a few things. I just did it in Target the other day! That manager was quite annoying. 😬

I was a manager at 3 different Goodwill stores! Stealing does happen by patrons and store workers both! It’s a running battle with both! But she was very rude! I would get in trouble if I talked to a patron like that!

That's crazy! I work at a Goodwill and we welcome customers who bring their own bags! Those prices are crazy at the one you're at. We do have 3 or 4 customers we have to watch because they will switch tags to the color of the week. She was soooo in your business. Please don't think we're all like that. We WELCOME RESELLERS! A sale is a sale, who cares what you do with it after you buy it???

I have been to that goodwill a few times. Always felt like if you are not one of locals, they aren’t as nice to you. It is also a tiny store where using a cart isn’t easy.
It looks like you are having fun in the snow. Safety tip: when you clean snow off your car, clean the whole car. Hood, top, trunk. Don't forget mirrors and lights. Snow sliding on the windows or flying off onto other cars can be dangerous if you are moving. Please stay safe.

I was so thrilled to meet you guys in Geneseo going in the goodwill so crazy! I go to that goodwill in Batavia all the time she's always like that she always acts like it's her stuff they are selling and she has told me that her son sells on ebay so she was probably going to try to get them for him.

Alli, lol. My Dad drinks a TON of caffeine-free diet coke & I always bring them to the redemption place at the grocery stores & get the 5 cents, trash bags full & then it's like I had a darn arm workout! Lol.

It's always awkward when people hosting garage sales hover and sort of shop their merchandise for you, all the while being nosy. Wow, I have never seen a Goodwill employee do it, much less a manager. It's like she was proud of herself for figuring out you guys are resellers, then tried to play hero with the stealing ruse. If someone was stealing, they wouldn't film it. No matter the reason behind the accusation, her behavior was unprofessional. Although, it was satisfying to see her backpedal when you guys politely pointed out the discrepancy between her pricing explanations.
I love how giddy you both got about the snow. I live in Wisconsin and I love the snow. Many people around here complain about the weather but I love it. I really appreciate the four seasons. I feel blessed. Anyways, another great video guys!! God bless.❤

Funny thing , last night at the grocery store I put things right in my reusable bag because it's the same here in Phiily. I have always done this. My boyfriend was like can you do that ? I'm like yeah , if they can't give me free bags at check out I can load my bag to see what I can carry out in it lol 😂.
I live down in South Jersey and we have the same deal and I use my bag to shop with all the time because some stores don’t have the smaller shopping baskets anymore because they said people who didn’t have bags were stealing the baskets lol

Sometimes you need to confront the manager on pricing. I went to goodwill found a brand name pair of jeans. The entire ass was ripped out , no button. Because of name of jeans they wanted $39 for them. I haven’t gone back to that goodwill!
I did take them to manager told them they should be ashamed! Everything was at retail or more. Even dollar tree stuff donated they were asking $3.99.
I thought it was hilarious that she was arguing that the shoes were new and that’s why they were priced at $25 but then when you showed her the different price written on the bottom and you asked if that was written but the place they came from she said I don’t know where they came from. So, if you don’t know where they came from how can you say they’re new??🤦♀️
Did you notice she had an answer for everything even when he countered with a sensible response?
She was a straight up “B” and kept contradicting herself. She said she didn’t know who wrote on the bottom of the shoes when she’s specifically said earlier that she did. maybe she ran out of her medication. 🤷🏻♀️
She doesn't know where the shoes came from because everything goes to the main distribution center and shipped to the stores from there. Merchandise circulates from one store to another. Nothing in this video was rude or harassing

@@darleneaitken1620 a manager hovering over customers is absolutely rude and harassing. Also direct donations to stores do happen also, and if a store made donations directly as she claimed then she’d know where they came from if she took them in and priced them as she claimed.
