I prefer the freedom of shore diving. Not only don't I have to play "follow the leader," but I don't have to deal with the much kicked up by other divers.
DCS is all related to the depth you go to and how long you are there, and then how fast your ascend, and you can find shore dives that get you into seriously deep water - literally - very quickly.
Thanks Mark… I just noticed it, is that a Aqualung Rogue BCD to your left here? What is your take on it? I’ve been looking for a good travel BCD with pockets and heard great things about this one.
It is indeed a Rogue. I have also dived the Outlaw, but I prefer the Rogue as it has a nicer padded backplate, the ability to have integrated-weight pockets AND trim pockets, and it has wider shoulder straps, plus there are dinky drop-down pockets on the waist strap, which are handy for back-up torches, magnifying glass, etc. I have used this a lot and it makes a great travel system, but it can also handle drysuit diving with ease too.
Dive boat or shore dive, which is your favourite?

Can you still get decompression sickness from shore diving
