Plane Camping at Sekiu!!

- This weekend really had me saying, "Man I really need this weekend!"
Therefore, myself and some friends, Dave, Cindy, Jim, and Lilly (and Mazie the beagle) went over to Sekiu to get one more camping trip in before the summer is gone! The GlaStar is currently down because we decided to overhaul the carburetor while taking care of a few other issues. Should be up and better than ever next week, but until then, I'm borrowing a venerable Cherokee!
I'm picking up lessons learned with every video I make. On this one, I realize I majorly slacked off on getting footage on the second day!! I promise there'll be more content there next time.

As someone who had an incident with a tow bar, I like your vigilance around them!! Never leave them hooked up :-)
What happened in the tow bar incident? 😱
I was wondering how you could go camping and pack SO light. Then I realized it's because your dad brought all the heavy stuff; great idea. Nice video, thanks.
WOW, I love that tree lined approach and landing....re-watched that part several times
Years ago doing my runup, a Cessna with floats taxied alongside for his runup - rare to see floats on a plane in Colorado. Saw the odd contraption on the front of the floats, so I radioed him to ask if that was a towbar. He embarassingly replied, "Yes, thanks. That would have made for an ugly landing!". Another reason to do that last visual 360 walk around the airplane before strapping it on. As always, a beautiful video - thanks for sharing your fun trip with us!!
Airplanes and Beagles. Two of my favorite things in one video. Subscribed! :)
Amazing place.
I with you on the tow bar. It needs to be off when not being used.
I’ve just begun following you. Used to fly Cessnas 40-some years ago in Pennsylvania, but still look up when I hear that siren song of an aircraft engine. Love your vids and choice of music.
No smoke from the fires--good for you. I guess everything is pretty far south of you. Beautiful footage, love the airport and seaside.
The smoke literally rolled in the next day!
It was smokey in WA three weeks ago when I was there.
Thanks Amy! Your fun flying videos always seem to pop up just when I need to see one..in many ways. I am getting ready to start flying lessons soon hopefully. I haven't flown since I was 10 with just me and my dad, when he was still alive...great memories! Seeing you enjoy the same w/ your dad did my heart good. Thanks!
Paulie
That is a beautiful back country airport, I love seeing the trees being that close to the runway.
I would enjoy a weekend getaway like that too. Be safe!
Thanks for getting us along for a ride!
Nice video, the plane and landscape so beautiful. Love it
I liked it and the music choices. Made my day since my famly didnt get to camp this year. Thanks for taking the time to do the vids much appreciated.
I agree. I always like the music you chose.
I really enjoyed the views Amy. Very pretty area. Thanks for posting your trip.
...what amazing place, thank you so much to share it...!! Pretty nice experience...!!
I have never had the chance to use 8 at Sekiu, always used 26. We did have a great summer.
Thats a Nice Plane
Thanks for sharing your aviation experiences. Looks like a nice trip! Fly safe!
That little runway is REALLY SOMETHING -- Looked like FUN!
Awesome videos !! I love the music you pick! Nice work. Keep them coming!
Another great video. I live in Bremerton and haven’t been to Sekiu in quite a while. It’s beautiful up there.
Wow...there's nothing plain about plane-camping at Sekiu. Camping there never occurred to me...but thanks to your video I will put that one on my bucket list!
Been a fan of your videos. Working on my private and going through the process.
Really love seeing you land and take off from your airport. I see my moms house on 16th and my dad at Oceanview.
Coming out there in a few weeks to visit. Maybe I’ll see you taking off or landing!!!
1:27. what a funny looking country airport approach....landing uphill? .looked like you were about to land on a street......At Garberville California, quite scary, towering Douglas firs
on short final approach too.
You do the kind of flying i want to do. Thanks for the inspirational stuff!
Great video. One of my most favorite places on Earth.
Tight fit there on final!
My dad was also an instructor and also a P-51 pilot during WWII. He would get bored and take me up in the Cherokee 140 and do enormous loops and some spins. It would scare the crap out of me. I don’t know the g- rating of a 140, but I doubt if they encourage loops.
They are definitely not designed to be spun or looped. IMO you’re lucky the plane didn’t fall apart.
I want to go there and see seals 😍
Nice spot. Looks like a beautiful place to relax.
Thank you for sharing :)
I have a lot of time in a piper 140 II love it.
Great video!
Was hopping to see Woodstock? That is a beautiful area.
I’ve seen you’ve been wearing that same hat in most of your videos, Jeremy is a good friend of mine and I’m sure he appreciates the exposure! I’m fond of flying up here in Maine but Washington looks fun too!
It's a great hat!!!
Amy, You have a wonderful day! 🤗✌
Beautiful countryside runway looks shorter on approach, good video.
2:30 AM winding down with another very pleasant Amy White video. Really digging the music choices and the scenery, plus cute chick.
Thank you for sharing this with us „jealous“ pedestrians 😉
ok I gottat hand it to you, thats a ballzy final!
Great! Beautiful place...
Good performance You have inspired me to work on my channel, thanks. 🐼
I 100% agree about the towbar. If it's not towing it needs stowing :o)
😂 PERFECT SLOGAN.
Love your videos, keep em up!
Que lindo viajar saludos
Featuring Big Dave!! Awe I need to get down there and do some flying with you guys.
Hello! Im a really big fan and i cant get a plane but i come here im only 8 (turning 9 in April 6th) and i come here so i can enjoy your content.
Btw hello from ohio🤝
Thank you for taking us along! Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the video! What is going on with Woodstock?
Beautiful scenery Amy.
you're welcome!
Even on that plane a prop strike with the towbar is a ~$20K deal cuz "by the book" the engine will need to be removed and completely dis-assembled and checked. Plus you may need a new prop.
Use to be up there where u landed, wish I could go up in a GA with a friend. Really wanted my PPL but I’m disabled now thanks to life. Really need to go up and enjoy the feeling of flying! MSFS2020 is fun and all but the feeling is not there..
I’m jealous... thanks for the nice video!
Nice video, must’ve been before the smoke got blown over us. I’m hoping to get in the sky this weekend but fear the smoke may keep me grounded.
Me too. Woodstock is ready to fly but it looks like constant IFR for the moment.
Hello Amy, thank you so much for this video! I love this airport and making a scenery for it in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This video came incredibly resourceful for designing the airport. I'm wondering if you had any other video/pictures of the airport you'd be willing to share? The lack of photos available on the net are very limited and dated so anything you could share would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
That’s a cool mission. I can try getting some more for you.
wow..it's that clear with all the smokes in the air? Looks like a good trip. Waving Hello from Hillsboro, OR.
This was a day before the smoke came in!!
Love your videos, but love you music choices even more.
wow these planes are as economy cars in a montain environment, just enjoy panoramas outside you slowly !
And now I think I am going to replicate your trip on Microsoft flight simulator😂
2:29, dude I fly in 342 all the time (out of Auburn)
I flew 342 once or twice, when it was based at Thun! Small world.
linda e ainda piloto..vou aí só pra te ver!!
Hello...., what happened to 'Woodstock' you have access to a Piper in a different hanger?
Nice that, your focus is on nature, I believe, seals are showing a thread via your videos.
I like your hair longer.
Keep scanning for traffic especially flying with Dave and friends.
Best wishes 📎☕
Woodstock is currently down for some maintenance.
@@amywhite375 No way😉
I think you are a spunky little pilot and I enjoy your videos. Please don't be camera shy. We need more female pilots in this world. You need to link up with "Just Plane Silly". You guys would be hilarious!
Tow bars can be dangerous in more ways than one!! Beautiful area; is your Dad a pilot?
Nice video. Did you just camp at the airport? How did you get from the airport down to the beach? Looks like a trip I may have to try next summer.
It is walkable to the beach from the airport, but we also had some friends in the area who lent us a car later that day to make trips to town easier, It worked out nice!
Fun one, Amy. But you're right, more content would've been better. Next time. Thank you!
Thank YOU!
@@amywhite375 :-)
Hi Amy. Another cool video. Thanks. Where is Woodstock?
Thank ya. Woody is in the hangar having a little maintenance done.
Nice video .. so what happened to your yellow ride? Why is it down? Hope to see you making more videos .. see you in the sky someday ...
Button for the electric trim failed, so we had to replace it. We are overhauling the carburetor as well.
Amy White wow .. sorry to hear .. please continue to check everything and sort them before your next flight.. let us know how to support you and your channel more .. keep up the great content and hope you do a live stream some day ..
Nice vid as always! Keep’m coming! Why no woodstock?
Thanks! (He's down for maintenance at the moment.)
💪
I'm view 2!
Hi Amy. Great video! How did you access the beach from the airport? Walk through the trees on the east side, or down Sekiu Airport Road? Thanks!
Went down to the marina first! The beach we were on is privately owned though.
@@amywhite375 - OK, thanks!
Where’s Woodstock?
where was woody?
PA-28-140s are Dogs! They Hate 5-digit density altitudes
Thanks for sharing - Why is Woodstock down?
Elevator trim troubleshooting. All fixed now, but we electively overhauled the carburetor and are waiting to stick that back on.
@@amywhite375 Thanks, I was really worried, because it is such a beautiful modern design ... probably much more efficient and fun than the old Cessnas and Piper planes.
Did you modify your flap switches towards the front panel, or really go full manual, throw the servos out, which is probably very useful with the taildragger configuration, when landing on short strips where configuration adjustments have to be immediate?
Little tip regarding new destinations, when the horrible wildfires are over, fly to Santa Rosa Airport (KSTS) also called "Charles M. Schulz Airport", North of San Francisco and I am sure Woodstock will feel at home ... This is the airports logo - they have the stickers everywhere - I think it is a must have for your plane :-) upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f6/Charles_M._Schulz_-_Sonoma_County_Airport_%28logo%29.png
Looking forward for your next adventure 👍 and Greetings from Munich, Germany
@@n1vca Nope, the flap conversion to manual hasn't happened--yet!
Amy what do you do for work ? are you still in the coast guard ?
I am.
OK what happened to Woodstock
See description/beginning of video. Down for maintenance.
wwWWWEEEee!!!!
If you want to see what happens when you leave the tow bar on watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/Sd9_GFn8OMI/v-deo.html
So you have 2 planes ??
Hahaha nooo way.
:)
So you have two planes ? Where's your yellow one girl
I definitely don't have two planes. Lol. The GlaStar is down temporarily for maintenance.
