When done correctly, installing an HID conversion kit is simple and affordable. TRS demonstrates how to install an HID conversion kit with a relay harness in a few easy-to-follow steps.
    ******************************
    Complete Kit
In this video, we install the new Morimoto Elite HID system on a 2013 Ford Fusion using our 3Five ballasts, XB35 H11 5000K bulbs, and heavy-duty relay harnesses or optional standalone Canbus relay harnesses. Kits feature all the necessary parts and components, including bolts and screws that are used to attach the bracket to the ballasts for optimal heat management and grounding. There is also a tester that comes with the kit that is used to check the ballasts during installation.
    ******************************
    Key Steps
The first step to learning how to install HID kits with a relay harness is removing the bumper to gain access to the headlights. Next, you’ll need to determine the type of headlight housings you’re working with and if you’re going to have to modify the caps on the back of the unit. If so, you’ll need to drill a small hole in the cap so the relay harnesses can pass through to the ballast when sealed.
    ******************************
    Wiring Harnesses
A lot of customers ask us, “Do I need a relay harness for my HID kit?” Our answer is an emphatic yes! The relay harness is responsible for precision power and signal delivery to the new components you are installing. It can also help eliminate flickering and bypass “bulb out” warnings caused by Canbus systems. The standalone Canbus harnesses used in this video feature smart technology capable of fooling systems designed to deter lighting modifications into thinking nothing has changed.

factory HID kits in cars all run 4300k bulbs. Aftermarket companies or other HID kit's will sell ~5000k because it gives off a slightly more crisp white/bluish hue to it. Companies (like TRS) who put time and money into high quality parts will opt for aftermarket 4300k bulbs to get them as OEM as possible. At the end of the day, it's up to you what you choose.

this is a great looking kit. i wish i knew if my new car will need a wire harness. my old car did. i'm just a bit worried about how well HIDs will work with my daytime running lights. i guess i buy everything that i think i need and hook it all up. it seems like a bit of a nightmare finding places for wires, ballasts, and grounds.

You are routing the stock switch harness into the stand alone, then to the ballast... and then from the ballast to the lights?
Shouldn't the ballast get power from a relay harness to avoid damaging the stock harness?
I have a 2012 Ford Focus and my current setup consists of a relay harness and 2 resistors to prevent the bulb fault error.
Would the standalones take place of my resistors or am I missing something in the connections?
I don't understand how to incorporate those in the connection as a whole.
Can you help me understand what all I would need from you guys for your kit?

Osram does not make 9012 HID bulbs...so wherever you saw that was selling a fake product.
The Morimoto XB HID Bulbs are as close to original equipment spec as possible, produce nearly the same lumens and have the same lifespan as the popular Osram CBI

Yes they are good quality at a good price.
Me and my brother both replaced our oem xenon bulbs on our bmw's with Morimoto 3five D1S type bulbs at 5000K. Not only were the Morimoto bulbs brighter than my oem bulbs, which were brand new oem's btw, but i was able to pick the color I wanted. I went with 5000K over the oem 4300K. Gives it a slightly "blue'r" hue, but still bright white light.
Now technically 4300K puts out more light than an equivalent 5000K bulb, but the Morimoto bulbs are just so much better than the oem osram xenarc bulbs we had. We both have adaptive headlights(projectors swivel with steering), no errors. Just brighter, more crisp light, and i think even quicker start up.
I have a BMW 335i and my bro has a BMW 535Xi. Both cars are wayy brighter with the new bulbs and like i said no problems, no dashboard errors.
My cousin has a full Morimoto 3five HID kit in his G35 coupe. Came with ballast, bulb, and brackets. No problems, been over a year now.

    • @rugermate
      @rugermate 7 років тому

Thx for the blunt ... feedback. I don't know, for some reason part of me was thinking that they were made-to-look-like projector housings.....why would they put halogens in a projector housing? What benefit does it have? Halogens shine the same regardless of and without being installed in a projector housing, right? Maybe because they wanted it to look cool? Well, if that's the case, if style was all they intended, then it would make sense that they built the car with a "projector-like" housing and not REAL projectors. It just didn't/doesn't make sense to me why the vehicle doesn't come standard (at least on a Titanium and SE edition) with HID's. But, at least, from what you're saying, there's only one style of projector housing and Ford doesn't make housings that are made-to-look-like projectors. I can live with that.

There is no "rest" they used the stand alone, which is the little box that they plugged into the ballast.. it used the stock harness, not an extra relay harness.

Wow, so many industry experts on HID instillation commenting on this video but I can’t seem to find any of their videos showing them doing this for a living...🤣. Isn’t that veeeard...?

It is indeed, we would not suggest following this particular guide for reference. We will replace it with a new version early in 2019
