NPI Process 2: New Product Development Process (Why Planning Before Prototyping Saves Time)

This is the second video in our series about the NPI process, and in it, we'll be examining the new product development process; specifically how any time spent in planning before you get to the prototyping stage will save you time later on.
It's natural for importers (hardware startups, entrepreneurs, inventors, and SMEs) with a product idea to want to get prototypes made ASAP, but rushing to this stage can cause trouble, such as too many expensive iterations being made.
Here's the process we follow BEFORE getting to the prototype stage:
- Understand design intent
- Review design files
- Study manufacturing options available in China for the product
- Study design impact on cost & compliance
- Propose the best options
- Go deeper into the design details
- Work out the entire design
Following this, we focus on prototype verification and validation and a feasibility study, too.
