im a diehard mc fan but i have really become a fan of emig. the dude was a constant thorn in mcs side his whole career and was really the only guy to challenge/take it to mc. i gotta say emigs 96 mx title was one of the most impressive championship runs ever. he was essentially 2nd to mc all year but just stayed consistent, caught up in the points chase and won it in a winner take all at steel city. that was such an epic battle and well deserved title by emig
So glad I was able to see these two in person battle it out in the 90's. Jeremy is the GOAT of supercross for sure, but Emig was no slouch. When It came to outdoors, Emig totally dominated in that type of racing. Eli Tomac reminds me of Emig in that way.
Mcgrath is the KING the greatest natural talent to ever do it! Dude won championships from a speed boat on lake havasu having fun not off a spin bike and dieting like guys now. He had natural talent that was unreal😱
After emig got taken out by McGrath over that triple, and emig couldn’t start the bike because it was in gear, i was remembering all the commentating Jeff has done where someone stalls the bike, hes always says something about having to get it into neutral before it’ll start. This man is traumatized by McGrath lol.
Not a fair comparison. Just like Jordan versus LeBron. We'll never find out. But let's look at the record books seven championships 72 wins versus Jeff got lucky once in 97

It was not 96 it was 97 bro and the ONLY reason he won is because Jeremy went to Suzuki the ONLY REASON!!!!
@@dagodigs we're talking outdoors here bud, emig won the 96 outdoor title and followed that up with sx and another mx title in 97
@@dr00andrew oh that's cuz mc didn't ride the entire 96 season cuz he didn't like the new frame in 96 and had some crashes
He was there the whole time. Just losing to emig ahahahahah
@@hyfrsilaz7144 who lost to emig? McGrath?

I think if Jeremy McGrath wasn't racing in the same era as Emig, Emig could have won many more championships.
Man I miss the blue plate special.
Good God, the whoops at 3:30
i miss those slow sections on the track.
Man I miss those days.
That gear on MC... 🤤
I had completely forgot that they used to regularly talk to various mechanics during the races. Can't remember seeing that happen recently.

Emig can’t read , but boy oh boy can he drink
Carmichael and Stewart took after these guys
I’ve seen wig congratulate McGrath after a win. Never have I seen McGrath ever do the same. Mc was a brat sore loser in every sense of the word.

Emig was a mini bike champ, several time 125 champ and outdoors/indoors 250 champ. Best starts of all time too. Fuck mc
