Guys, I want to provide accurate load data to you as promised. Because of a technical failure on my part I won’t be able to provide it for a week. Sorry.
A video you did in the past regarding “why suppressors reduce recoil,” was really good, though I think a factor that people get tripped up on is the component of recoil that is from the “jet-force“ of the gasses leaving the muzzle (the gasses are slowed leaving the suppressor).....part of the reason I think this is hard for people to understand is when talking about effectiveness of muzzle brakes, on “gamer-gun” setups, especially comp’d pistols (with handloads).....I think this would be good content if you explained how the expelled gasses velocity contributes to recoil, or recoil reduction in the case of a brake or suppressor.
@@ericschumacher5189 I have also thought about this, but trying to convert that discussion into a video that most people can follow is challenging.
I am planning the “1hr lecture on cans” video and have already film a few segments for it. I plan to include this in the video because people who will pay attention to the lecture will be invested in that knowledge
You need to tell your friends to stop sucking at customer service there the worst bro taking forever to ship In stock items and communication
I can't resist, I saw you flinch on the last pull of the 45-70 trigger 😉
Like you’ve never flinched
@@italianrelic dude it takes me like 50 rounds to stop flinching 😆
I've put 10's of thousands of rounds down range from everything from handguns to belt‐feds and .50s. I still flinch occasionally.
@@Knoxvillemoto same, especially with higher recoil handguns. It takes me a couple mags to stop flinching
I’m an occasional flincher too! Oddly it mostly happen when others are shooting, though every now and then…..
I have a Freakin 45 and a Dirty 30. They both suck and you can’t tell they are even on the gun. I got the Freakin 45 mainly for my 10mm. Total waste of money.
Substantial recoil reduction is a great thing. While you can achieve this with a brake, it will be much much much much much much much louderer. For someone who hunts with that, I’d say it would be a good addition
The SDI ad has to be the best ad I have ever seen. Jesus H. Christ I have spat my water onto my monitor through my nose. My boss was VERY concerned for my health and safety.
i was looking at Witt a while back, never pulled the trigger because they were an unknown. Thanks for the vid
Thank you sir. I have often dreamed of seeing a bearded Nathan Fillion reloading for the 1st time using only a vice. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime.
There is a Canadian joke in there somewhere, but I’m not going to dig it out
Most of my hunting rifles already have long ass barrels so adding a long ass suppressor to the end of it kind of sucks especially if you're walking through the thick woods of Louisiana or hunting out of box blinds. I go for a suppressor that's relatively short and is light as I can get because all I'm really looking for is something to take the edge off so I don't need ear pro. This is a pretty cool suppressor I don't hunt with a 45-70 but I get what they're going for. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I run one of these on my 375 H&H and it does damn good
I load subsonic .45-70 on the regular and using a 430 homecast lead bullet and reduced loads with Unique handgun powder I have gotten excellent results in both suppression, accuracy, and energy on target.
I have a DeadAir Nomad-L and a YHM Resonator-K, and I tend to shoot my "K" suppressor waaaaay more than I do my "L" suppressor.
I have a sandman s on my 12.5 556 but want a sandman k for my 18 inch coyote ar.
Deep cope, deep deep cope, need my silencer to be quiet
You're HILARIOUS and the algorithm is now defeated
Thanks for the video, I been waiting for it since you uploaded the other one.
As long as you can tell where you bullet will drop a subsonic .45 is a beast for hunting. Just get a heavy bullet(like really heavy) also it doesn’t shock the anamal as much with the shock and awe from the shockwave of the bullet hitting them and the sound, so a lot of the times it does pretty much the same damage but the animal doesn’t go as far.
Given the heavier load as most subsonic heavy bullets are hearing safe with an appropriate silencer; does your heavy suppressed load still ethically take game? If, so, at what distance?
Heavy loads 😂
Are we still doing phrasing? I thought we were done doing phrasing!
After purchasing and waiting, finally tested the Dirty 30 on 8.5 in Radical Firearms upper. Not enough back pressure to cycle subsonic 300 BLK rounds and doesn't seem hearing safe, at least for others nearby.
My AAC can is hearing safe with a 10.5 AR in 223/556 and every other round that is 30 caliber or less...... Very impressive can!!
Something that I'd like to see is the recoil reduction offered by something like the Silencerco Blast Shield that mounts using their ASR system. Flash Hider vs Brake, with and without the blast shield.
So interested to see this. I have watched your 45 cans suck video quite a lot of times. I am trying to gain more understanding of suppressors before buying a bunch of stuff that doesn't work or doesn't do what I expect of it. I don't really rock 45 aarp much but I am interested in suppressing 44 mag with some medium heavy sub sonic rounds. Something like this might just do it because I too have been questioning just how quiet is quiet enough for a round or two in the woods. This is likely a lot less dough than a 46m. Thank you for sharing. Love your way of communicating.
I had the opportunity to demo some Witt Machine cans a few years ago. The Canooter Valve was impressive enough that I bought one immediately. I think it fills the same niche as an OSS suppressor at 1/5th the cost and half the size and weight. Awesome.
Unfortunately, similar to your experience on the handgun, the 9mm on my 4" MPX sounded like crap. Might work better on a 16" barrel?
And the pistol caliber suppressor isn't going to cycle the handgun properly because Witt doesn't make booster pistons. Sometimes you can get away with super light boosterless designs but Witt Machine products are tanks.
The new Mod01 in 9mm can accept a booster and works on my Glock. (Still a tank)
Yo momma have a sweet canooter valve
@@9mmpeter255 she’s 83. But you’re not wrong
It would have been helpful to include heavier, longer suppressor in the recoil measurement section. It would be informative to see just how well the Freakin 45 (helps reduce the) punches for its suppressor weight class versus a traditional 45-70 rated can. It would be surprising to see it reduce recoil as much as a bigger one, but without the same demonstration on a bigger one, a person can merely theorize.
When considering recoil mitigation, sound dampening, weight, and price together, I think we've foregone in this video the possibility of shortening the barrel. While not practical on a lever action rifle, where you'd have to also cut down and develop a new tube mag follower, a shorter suppressor may passed over in favor of SBR'ing a 458 SOCOM or 45-70 single-shot rifle and using a standard-length (presumably quieter) can. In order to maximize balance, weight, and quietude, though, a person obviously is going to be in for it deeper when it comes to cost and waiting to actually have their rifle ready to go.
Not all silencers need to be quiet...but non quiet silencers need not be owned!
@The VSO Gun Channel, Curt, a couple of observations, 1. Lehigh Defense specifies a minimum twist rate of 1:10 for those 465gr monolithic brass bullets [just a fyi so folks don't inadvertently produce a baffle strike on a conventional longer 45 can in conjunction with a conventional 1:20 twist 45-70 Gov't barrel]. 2. Since Wilson Combat bought out Lehigh Defense, those bullets are no longer offered, along with a bunch of other Lehigh Defense bullets Bill Wilson in his "infinite wisdom??" [LOL] thinks are no longer economically viable....
You need a booster adapter to run on tilt barrel semi auto pistols depending on design.
It's a direct thread can. No Neilson device.
Mostly looking for it to get it close to hearing safe at my ear, anything more than that is just a cherry on top. Once you get away from the mantra of "maximum muffling, always", suppressors really become convenient and almost required (for safety) parts of firearms. Suppressors are essentially fully enclosed muzzle brakes, so it helps with recoil and muzzle flip too.
Boss videos as always! What brand bcg and barrel would you recommend for close to sub moa on a budget ?ar15 …
As much as people crap on them, I’ve actually had some pretty good luck with Bear Creek Arsenal’s stuff. And that’s about as budget as you can get
“Loading with a vise?! Everyone get back! He’s a mad man!” Also, congratulations on the math.
i bought a .45/70 a couple years ago just because i wanted it, no real purpose, still one of the most fun guns to shoot that i own.
There is the option of shooting in a total vacuum.
Hornady manufactures sub sonic .45-70 with a 410 gr projectile. Where did you get the tacticool hand guard ? I've seen some online but read that they're very difficult to install and tend to wiggle. Have you found a better one ? I'd like to put that on my X type.
Pat RMG over on his channel is a reloader and has made some very impressive 45/70 loads that are very quiet
Your getting to slow on velocity buddy. Optimally keep it around 1000-1050 fps for suppressed for best results and accuracy. Start supersonic and work down so you dont leave one in the bore
Looks like an interesting and inexpensive approach for sound suppression. I have a Henry X model in .45 LC driving 250 gr projectiles at 1700 fps. This suppressor being such a handy size (and reasonable price point) might be a reasonable consideration for sound mitigation. Your recoil reduction testing with the simple sled is also appreciated as it does sufficiently demonstrate the actual recoil reduction of this can. Quick question, is the cover easily removable for maintenance? If not, what tricks does one need to know to maintain this suppressor? Thanks for your fine presentation.
Suppressors are important for if someone is your home and you have to fire in your house if you do you can goes deaf. We live in like a townhouse kinda. I already have a bad case of tinnitus. I want to get one but I can't afford one.
Good value
Was he using weed eater string to pull the trigger?
I just put one shot through mine (230 gr ball), horrible. I bought one for me and one for a client as I'm a SOT. I'm saying this with complete honesty, I'm most likely going to have to eat the cost of the can as there is NO WAY, he will like this. This can, did virtually nothing, while the 9mm Witt can did, very odd. I attached it to a High Point Carbine 4595, 16", held it away from me and it was still stupid loud. If you watched this video to the end you saw him quickly put his muffs on after firing it from a Glock and then closes out the video without ANY mention of what his experience was. Bear in mind my experience got the full burn of the .45 round, extra velocity in a 16" barrel will a 4-6" PCC sound better, I hope so.
How was the sound after running it there a 4-6 pcc .45 acp?
Hey man, look, a six inch caliper is totally average bro, nothing to be ashamed of!!!
hahahaha
Is that weed eater string lol thats awesome.
Maximum Suppression!!
I'm thinking of trying the Freaking .45, the Kaw adapter (.578 -> 5/8), and trying to run it on my threaded Glock 21. Think it will function with a booster on it? Is there a way to even attach one to it? What's another .45 option with a booster around this price range?
If you are still looking for cans, creative arms makes a similar price 45 can that's a more traditional longer can. The qb series 45 suppressor.
Would you be willing to take that thing 15 min drive past the intersection of I70 and I77 for a demonstration on privet property? I want to experience it on a 450 Bushmaster AR15.
Demos are booked by the hour
@@VSO_Gun_Channel I may have to earn my demo with reloaded ammo after I get moved, and my bench set back up.
So where's that load data?
Would this can work on .458 SOCOM? That’s a caliber I’ve been thinking about for a hot minute but haven’t pulled the trigger on.
yup
You would get much more suppression performance from a Torrent Suppressors Orthrus from Rainier Arms
Explain that you have tons of 45 ammunition but only two rounds that are useable for this “controlled test”
Fun video
I've seen those. Aren't they technically not considered a suppressor, as far as the forms go?
Different device. These still need a form four.
Then why have it?
Because it comes down to preference and intent, I have a Dead Air Nomad-L and a Resonator-K, and even though the K suppressor is not as quiet, it's lighter and shorter and I shoot with it significantly more often than my Nomad-L, and that same thing seems to happen when I let my friends use them as well
You really love to talk
Will that fit on a hand gun
No it won't, witt machine only makes direct thread or hub compatible cans, they would have to up their price to allow a piston mount. Hopefully one day they do tho cause that would be sick!!!
What model number is your Henry? I see a Midwest Industries handguard.
Quality!
If you need specialty ammo reloaded for the channel let me know 😂 that was painful to watch.
If I were to get this it would mainly be used for subsonic 45-70, but can it handle full power rounds too?
Oh yeah. You're not going to hurt that suppressor.
Does it fail to reach hearing safe with full velocity 45-70?
Is that can less than 20, 30 decibels?
Also, nice Reno shirt!
Do you really expect to be taken serious when you mount your scope on a lever gun in an AR mount that has you about 4 inches from a proper cheek rest on your stock and who knows how high above the bore. Just because it looks cool doesn’t me it is.
can you put this on a pistol
Anyone complaining about the recoil on a 45-70 would be like someone complaining about how fast their Ferrari is... it would be more of an issue with the user, nor the tool... and if the user has fears or discomforts about the inherent characteristics of a tool, then it should be the user who should buy an appropriate tool that will not irritate their sensibilities. The guy who can't handle the 45-70 recoil can buy himself a 223, but not the short barrel because it does have added recoil and it's also louder and the guy who hates how fast his Ferrari is can buy a Ford Focus... but obviously not the RS, because it goes fast. If I but a suppressor it won't be because I want reduce recoil, it will be for the obvious and primary reasons, not the secondary ones, even if the secondary benefits add a positive bonus to the primary ones.
I've never been this early. 👌
Dude I've hated you for years but still watched a few of your videos for information gain and just learned that your name is Curtis, that's great 😂 that's my name too
Linda loves loads
I have witt machine dirty thirty it is a total ripp off totally loud..a cheap brake will give you same recoil control ...waste of effort and time going thru process... don't buy you will regret it. Just as loud on or off ears will ring ...scam. my other cans work great so I am not a noob .
@the vso gun channel I’m under the assumption you live local to oh? If you do shoot me a message I have a local ammo supply for 45/70 and a bunch of other goodies local.
If you loaded that 45-70 with a bench vise, then made an “instructional video”on YT to shoot it through a suppressor, you should stop giving gun advice forever.
2000fps pumpkin 🎃
Why not just sell guns with permanently quiet barrels. It wouldn't be a suppressor if it was always quiet.
I wish that was how that worked
@@MuzzleFrontLLC isn't though. Look at the pistol braces. Or the frt trigger/ binary trigger. Necessity is the mother of invention.
@@Rustyshackleford85 Integral Suppressors are not new, but they’re still regulated
Gay pride/Botox commercial during your video…. Algorithm couldn’t be more incorrect on what I’m interested in… lol
Meh, I’ll take their money. If you have a problem with an ad, the best thing you can do is watch the whole thing. That budget is that much less depleted.
@@VSO_Gun_Channel didn’t know that. Good to know. Keep up the good work.
