I was going to ask you about the handles.....And you answered a few questions I hadn't thought of, Great video Doc !
.
These are so cool; KC tool just had them as tool of the day for a killer deal; can't wait to try them out with comfort grips, I previously only had the dipped handled model.
Gosh I’m excited for these! Got rid of my Snap On slippie needle noses to get a set of these Knipex. Good stuff.
Those look great! Thanks for the review...
I bought the old grips then noticed the new grips. Thought about returning the old grips for the new ones as it was only a few dollars difference. Decided to keep the old grips for space saving and better fit for my hand to wrap around the handles for larger fasteners. If I used them a lot then I would probably go for the comfort handles. I mainly need them to remove a stripped fastener here and there.
Wow! Thanks!
These pliers are barely out on the market and already Doc has them in two different grip styles!😁
Doc , one of these days I want/need a personal tour of all your tools ! Another great video!
If he tried to put that into a video, it would be longer than the directory's cut of the full LotR movies.
Thanks
have the comfort grip version, don't use them a whole lot but when you need them nothing else seems to get close!
Nice,Tks doc
Got comfort grips on all my Knipex. They’re awesome. Worth the premium in the price IMO.
I have comfort handles for all my Knipex pliers except for the 2 long nose Knipex pliers.
I had them when they were released last year off my cornwell truck. They became my EDC because I unintentionally used them that much! Lost them couple months ago so annoyed (I don’t normally lose or break tools) love the idea of the comfort grip but I would imagine they’d be more bulky in the pocket. Thanks doc with your thorough analysis - as usual (I’m a diesel/light auto mechanic)
For car work I'd still choose the dipped handle over the comfort, you'll find many cases where the thick handle won't fit.
I have the dipped and can see where the comfort grip would help with torque and also help with spinning a screw or bolt out. Especially if you have bigger hands.
@@rjskum688 I have medium sized hands and got a set of VDE pliers and honestly they feel a bit too big
My condolences on your loss. 😥
@@rjskum688I have both and definitely prefer the dipped. You can pretty much break most bolts and don’t need more torque I have to keep going back to my vampliers groove lock for wood stuff. The knipex are better for bolts and I am thinking automotive applications. I stopped carrying them for hot tub repair because I can’t use it for everything and have to use the smaller vampliers there’s still a set of the dipped in the van though
Great
I vacillate between the comfort handles and the dipped. Most of the time I tend to prefer the standard red handles. This being said, I do need to buy these pliers.
If those have a cam on them, they would be unstoppable.
Same for me once I experienced the comfort grips I stopped using the regular grips completely. The comfort grips are phenomenal.
I saw the twin grip and just waited for it to be released with comfort grips. Worth the wait.
Around 35€ here in germany 🇩🇪 but in backorder
Still waiting for those to become available in Germany. Apparently this particular style of pliers is typical for the US market and its development was driven by Knipex USA so you are served first. They appear as if they could be very handy here as well. Will definitely opt for the better handle.
Still not for German customers after Christmas 2021 😒
@@HarmonicaTool ich konnte mir zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr eine ergattern. Aber mit dem normalen Griff. Finde den optisch auch besser. Schöne Zange.
Just arrived in Greece, some forum people had put orders since last November.
@@MrSuperKackfass The standard handles look much better, less bulky.
As you said Knipex for Nuts the others more likely for wires.
Got these on Prime Day recently. The Amazon seller i bought from sent them without the original box. I wonder how common that is? The important thing is that it was $30 and genuine.
Perfection cannot be improved, but these are nice pliers.
I heard one of the reasons they are so tough to get ahold of right now is the factory got flooded in Germany a few months ago which delayed shipments for a few months. I put in an order for the comfort grips at amazon before they started shipping in July but have yet to have them ship. There are folks marking them way up because they have them in stock though unfortunately. I think I paid $35.10 +tax when/if they ship though so I'm ok to wait for now.
KC Tool has them in stock right now on Amazon for $50 shipped to house after tax for the red handled.
6 months delay in Europe too.
@@gplusgplus2286 Still on backorder from Amazon, lol.
In late 23 i got them comfert grip pliers for$29 Amazon.
Same, bought mine a month or two there for the same price. (Might have been $28, same thing though) They had to be shipped from the UK though but I have prime so the shipping was free.
Can you think of a reason why you would ever prefer use to the non-comfort grip rather than the comfort grip for the TwinGrip now that you have both?
Still waiting for mine...
I have smaller hands, do you think the comfort grip would make these harder to grasp?
I almost bought those Snap-On “Talon” grip pliers… so the Knipex are better than those Snap-On’s?
I have had my twin grips for a couple months now, they're a little large in my opinion, still grab my Fujiya's over these 😎🛠️😎🛠️😎
What model # Fujiya’s do you have?
@@paedahe4975 NSP01-150
They're about $15 on Amazon
@@tedmcdonald3377 I just bought those last week. Great minds think alike. How are they?
@@tedmcdonald3377 still waiting for delivery on mine.
for larger fasteners the comfort handles demand very large hands...i would choose the slimmer ones in any case
They cost enough, they should come with comfort handles on all. No comfort handles at Menards. No other brick and mortar carry them around my location
Have and love both I always buy comfort grip if available but had to get twin grip as soon as possible Knipex and Snap On pliers are top of the line and you get what you pay for
Are there a similar slip joint plier with the cuts in the front to hold screws that might be cheaper. While I appreciate quality not wanting to pay $50+
Check out Vamplier and Engineer pliers. amzn.to/3JN82GD
Love the pliers, but I ordered a pair from Amazon on sale, they eventually sent me 2 pairs, and when I tried to send one back, they couldn't figure out how to accept it, so I have two pairs for a very cheap price. Can't justify buying a third pair, even with the nicer handles.
Knipex dipped textured are some of the best in the business. Big over moulded grips are silly IMO. Even if they didn't degrade, they take away your sensitivity to your task at hand, not to mention terrible at fitting into flatter tool carriers/pouches. The only time the overmould gets me would be the handle on a hammer like the fiskars where they really absorb a lot of the shock, but then I prefer a nice hickory handle over that.
Got myself a pair for £25. How much were they charging in the US a couple years ago? $65?
can the Twingrips grab 8-32 or even 6-32 machine screw heads when you go head on with them? looks like the screw extraction zone would be too large for the smaller screws
Seems like small heads will be a challenge and may want to keep vampliers or engineers on hand for the small ones.
Hey Doc, what were those kiwi style pistol grip pliers on the chest?
612AEP Snap on I believe
@@iamfuckingyourwaifuandther2743Thanks. I have been looking for those. 👍🔧
@@iamfuckingyourwaifuandther2743 Could they be 912aep?
@@paedahe4975 They are the screw extractor version in the video.
Pae called it. They are the Snap On 612AEP 10" Pistol Grip Needle Nose pliers
Well, as Harmonica Tool stated correctly, this is a tool made for the American market first, since You guys are heavily into slip joint pliers and here in Germany, we hardly use them. Probably because there was no TwinGrip yet...
I have a lot of Knipex pliers and all those in my shop are with the comfort grips, but for the tools I have „on the go“, I prefer the normal grip, since it does make every pair so much less bulky.
It is not in snap on territory. Snap on pliers cost like $70-$80 now lol, these are almost half of snap on territory. Also what is the part number for the snap on version? (edit: found it 612AEP) Only $90 and it only comes in red :(
Can you do a video comparing all of them after you buy 3.peaks DS215TZ from amazon japan ;)
Apparently the 3.peaks is supposed to be better than the vampliers.
The TwinGrips are listed from $35 to $80 across the internet. However, I found one must exceed the $50 mark and maybe $60 if you actually want to get a pair. I think the $35-$40 range is retail, but now used only to drive eyeballs to online tools stores only to get on a waiting list. I was thinking of the 47ACF slip joint pliers which are about $53 which is less than I spent on either of my TwinGrips.
Ill look into the 3peaks. I know 3 is the lucky number in Japan. I used to ride a 3Rensho bike.
I just looked into 3 Peaks last night because of your comment. They look nicely made. Thanks for the tip. Will add to my arsenal soon.
nah they're 65 dollars, fap off territory, like he said.
The news ones dont look as good. Gotta be stylish too lol
Where the fook is Engineer PZ-56
Don't have a pair yet. In fact, didn't know about it until your comment. Now I'll check into it. Thanks.
@@lastbesttool Thanks🙂
EWw a comfort grip
knipex could just make a comfort grip with a insulated handle and there you go one tool that covers all yet they persist in making different versions just make a good tool that does all for a reasonable price why all the versions with different handles and finishes. All the consumer wants is a comfort grip insulated a hard steel that doesn't rust its not rocket science a simple production line
not all consumers want the comfort grips..Eg when you want to use them in restrained places like car engines or electric cabinets the dipped handles tools are what you need
I love knipex, they make up almost all of my plier collection but their comfort grip is absolute garbage, isn’t even comfortable. The VDE handles are far better as are the two dipped handles
so you are going to accept the superiority of german tools now, correct?
The superior race and genetics
Too fat in my tool bag that is already full
gotta throw some of the fap-off shit into the garbage to make space for the superior german tools.
same problem here and this is the reason i would choose the dipped handles
Piece of crap, jaws don’t even match. I returned them. American pliers are so much better.
Non comfort grip is better. Its slimmer profile makes it easier to handle and if you need a gorilla grip you put a small pipe on the correct handle. Then you can stand on it.
