Hello. After doing many many many of these full plate movements I found that its much easier to place the wheels in the mainplate and then use a tiny piece of rodico to hold the pallet fork in place on the top plate. Then drop the top plate down into place, remove the rodico and maneuver the pivots into their homes. Just my way of doing it that works great for me.
Great that works for you! I never liked using rodico, spent much more time fiddling with it, setting into place, than it takes me to do it the upside down way.
really great job, you’re one of the few watchmakers oiling the crown where you put the wheels under them…and brass tweezers to avoid any kind of damage…
Beautiful watch. I am just learning about vintage American pocket watches. I assume that these early Bunn Specials were single roller escapement (I am a novice so I can't tell by sight)?
I thought BUNNSPECIAL was a channel, one that I especially like. The name of the channel is no more or less interesting than darthvader, I mean redvitis . All kidding aside, although BUNNSPECIAL is cool. Anyhow, great job and beautiful time piece!!!!!!

They are man made but they are second to diamonds in strength . Draw back they are brittle. Many watch makers will tell You that . Think about how hard it would be to make them from a ruby . @@redvitiswatches
Beautiful restoration! Lots of great tips. Well done and nice explanation.
Cheers Larry! Glad you found it helpful.- RedVitis
A great watch and a great video.

This watch has a single roller, an early production of this model, for sure. Other bunn specials, I can't be certain.
@@redvitiswatches I think later models had a double roller. Possibly also a motor barrel. Still, this is a high-quality watch for the 1890s.
@@redvitiswatches Hey, I just now got one of these, in a plain nickel case. Same year of production. Mine has the two-tone damaskeening on the plate.
You got a great watch. Some have 24 jewels too!
Good job! Very classic watch too.
That is an awesome incredibly lovely watch both inside and out! What do you think that watch would have cost when it was brand new in 1895?
Around $50 not including a case, or about $1500-2000 adjusting for inflation.
I love those late 1800 American watches. These were the equivalent of $2500-$3000 new.
👍Allen. great period of American watches!
How thick is that brass plate you used for bluing ?
1/16"
Glad I found your channel!
Definitely the best watch vids on UA-cam!!
Do you do servicing? So hard to find a place to get a watch serviced..
YT doesn't let me PM. My contact email is posted on the Channel page.
@@redvitiswatches Thanks!

They're no relation, but I've heard "Watch my fix" is a distant cousin 😉

شكرا
Good luck
Sadly they are not rubies they are man made .
Thank you. Do you have references from IWC on their jewels? Wondering since I had believed jewels of 19th century watches were not synthetic.
