I am not sure on the exact HS rules, but is there a 'no force out' rule in HS unlike in the NFL and College, where you can push out a receiver in the air out of bounds? If there is a no force out rule, is the Ref making a determination that if the defender didn't push a player in the air out, they would have come down in bounds?
Something which almost never gets acknowledged. The impact of playing a huge game against an elite team one week almost always leads to a subpar performance the following week. Coach Rollinson has complained he can't find enough local H. S. teams willing to play the Mercenaries. The Mater Dei boosters say there is no recruitment, and Mater Dei is essentially just morally superior. @K KwillIs it as satisfying knocking down straw man argument as it is creaming regular high school kids on the football field? Neither I or anyone else has claimed “Mater Dei has all the local players”. Your example of Bishop Alemany is 56 miles and sometimes five-hour round trip commute to Mater Dei that the five-star talent in the San Fernando Valley doesn’t want to make. Some huge public-school districts, such as Long Beach or Corona, have school choice where one of the schools can become the powerhouse magnet for the star players. Korey Foreman probably did not want to make the sometimes four-hour round trip commute to Mater Dei when locally he had a good school in Corona Centennial. D.J. Uiagalelei decided to make the commute from the inland empire to go to St. John Bosco in Bellflower. No one from Bellflower is allowed to commute to Corona Centennial in the i.e. If I had was a parent of top pop warner player who was given the choice between going locally to Long Beach Poly or being shuttled in a van to Mater Dei for a two and a half hour round trip commute, I’d be thrilled to send him to Mater Dei. Los Alamitos is a top academic school district, so I can see where the Malacai Nelson’s parents would elect avoid a forty mile round trip commute twice a day and play locally with a solid football program even though it does not have the capacity to have FBS talent at every last position. Volume matters. What is the percentage of Mater Dei starters that just have Christian parents who primarily want to send their sons to a local Christian high school? Does Mater Dei hold youth football camps? Does it not have boosters that fund tuitions for top football prospects and provide van pools? Mater Dei football fills each position filled by a FBS prospect.
