This video is mostly of my Daddy, Swampman Dan talking about life on the river. There is a few scenes from prior festivities at the camp from over the many years.

      Howdy,
      I agree 💯 You are absolutely right. 👍 👍
Even though I'm from a very small borough in Northeastern Pennsylvania, things have been changing so much that I've decided to move to the deep south.
I've been to most Southern states and from my experience, I've found that mountain, river and swamp folk are far less rude and not in a constant hurry to go nowhere. Neighbors used to be kind and helpful to each other here, but these days most seem to only care about greed, material possessions, trying to outdo each other.
I've also noticed that lack of faith in God and traditional family values has declined a lot up North here.
It will be a blessing indeed to move south.
Have a good night there and God bless

    Howdy,
I'd truly like to thank y'all that took the time to help steer me in the right direction for finding a good place to call my new home.
We were planning on moving sometime in May.
Sadly, my Daddy passed away a few days ago. It was his dream to move there.
I know he'd want me to move here and start a family in a place with good folks with good morals and values.
I know he'll be in heaven smiling down at the beautiful and peaceful scenery and most importantly darn good folks.
I'd consider myself blessed to live there.
My move might be delayed a bit, but I want all y'all to know that when I do move, that in time of need, I'll always be there the best I can for my neighbors and new friends.
    Much appreciated,
    God bless 🙏

    Howdy,
I was wondering if any locals ever rent their houseboats on a monthly, 6 month or yearly price?
Looking for something older, simple looking with bare minimum necessities?
Just need enough room for 1 and a small dog and cat.
It doesn't need to be a boat type, a small shed type one on pontoons or floats is pretty much all I'd need.
Basically, simple, clean, decent livable, or as is is ok.
Most houseboat rentals I see are high end fancy and are by the day, just way way too high priced to live for extended time.
    Much appreciated,
    C.M.
PS, I'd also consider a cabin, camper or RV near the water. 🙏

    Howsy,
Does any of y'all by chance know any folks that might be interested in renting a small section of property, would be great if theres fishing accessible from the property, but not a deal breaker.
I just nedd enough room for a van and tow behind camper. (Unless im renting a place, then id only need room for the van and late on a small Jon boat.
Im a quiet person with good traditional old fashioned morals and values.
Im the type to help my neighbors and try to put my friends and neighbors first whenever possible.
Looking for monthly arrangement, a handshake is good for me, if its good for you, if you rather it done in writing, thats fine with me too.
Im looking for anywhere from bout 6 months to a year. If it works out, then I might be interested in longer if it works for both of us.
I might need a single 20 amp electric outlet. i do have 150 feet of heavy outdoor type RV extension cord.
Just thinking it might be a situation that can help someone with some easy extra money and it sure would be a help to me too.
Im a simple down to earth hunter and angler.
Im not into fancy city type living at all, its just not my way. Not saying theres anything wrong with that way of life, but cities or big towns, just isnt for me.
Id be more than happy to pay some extra rental money up front, or maybe a few months or so too.
I just aint good at figuring out long distance moving.
Its a bit different going this eay then going through a realtor or on the computer.
I only see fancy type homes listed that are way high in price.
I just dont need or want 3 or 4 bedrooms, granite countertops and air conditioned attached garages.
Only house that came up was a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath home in New Iberia that was being rented as is for $296 a month, i lost out on that one, someone already rented it by the time i reached the seller
Ive considered a cheap houseboat or float house, just not sure how that works, so just trying to figure out some other options, like a camper or RV.
Even a cabin, shanty house or shabty boat would be fine with me.
I pretty much only need a bedroom of sorts and dont really need a full kitchen. I mostly cook on the grill or bbq.
Well i figured id give it a shot by asking this way
Its only me a small senior aged dog and a xat. Both are house trained and the dog aint a barker.
I aint married yet, but it would be nice to have room for a gal in the future if i go with other than a camper or houseboat.
I aint picky, i dont mind something that needs work, im good with plumbing and electrical work painting and other repairs, cept rather not have to fully gut a place. if it needs work its fine with me.
I aint the type to dissapoint anyone.
I promise to you and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that im confident that you wouldn't regret having me as a neighbor.
If for some reason it dont work, ill be sure to get out of your hair and on good terms.
Im a humble guy. Im not into materialistic possessions or fancy stuff.
I truly believe that we can make this work so we all are happy with this here arrangement. Also i wouldn't hunt or fish without your permission. If need be i can find another area for hunting and fishing that works out.
I dont plan on needing electric for more than a couple or few monts. Ill be adding solar if i go the camper or houseboat/float house route if i buy my own.
If i dont buy my own and rent a humble houseboat or float house or cabin, id be more than happy to add solar with your permission and fix up the place a little bit at a time, if y'all want me to, or if its needed.
Yeah just trying to figure out something here.
Id surely consider myself blessed if this wirks out and would be most grateful.
Id also consider paying a finders fee for help that leads me to finding a place.
I have to admit finding a place bout 1,200 to 1,300 mikes away, is a bit if a challenge.
I know some of the rules regarding a houseboat or fliat house, as far as anchoring or mooring it, but i surely dont know all the rules. I was told bout Pearl River, lake Verret and Whiskey Bay as far as putting a houseboat. But if i go that way, id like to have a small patch of land to rent near it so i can park my truck.
Unfortunately its not 4x4, I planned on converting it by replacing the i beam front axle with a Dana 70 powered front axle, and transfer case, maybe from a topkick or Kodiak truck.
I just didn't have the time at the moment, its a 2wd dually short step van with a locking tear, so as long as the road or path is travelable by a 2wd with mud tires, id be set. Really wouldn't be as much a problem if i weren't selling my Chevy m1098 4x4 CUCV army pickup truck, but i might be selling it sobi don't have to have 2 vehicles on the property.
My apologies in advance, i been up bout 2 and a half days trying to figure out moving and packing.
I was planning on moving with my Dad so he could ve in warner weather and be with goid folks.
He passed, so uts just me, and i know im really rambling on here, im just running out of time and would definitely like to move to Louisiana no more than 2-3 months from now at most.
Id ve more than happy to pay a finders fee to any if y'all that might be able to work something out with this here situation.
I can gladly give an email or phone number if tgeres any questions.
Id be happy with anything on or bear the water, weather it be river, bayou, swamp, backwater, pretty much being by any navigable water so i can teavel by biat to fish, trap crawfish would sure be great.
Well i know this is a long shot, but figure if i dont ask, ill never know.
Maybe theres some sort of Facebook group dealing with this area of Louisiana, ill check it out but im new to Facebook.
    Maby thanks in advance.
    Much appreciated.
    God bless.
    With Respect,
    C.M.

Thanks for sharing, much appreciated. Any of y'all have ideas for finding a place in the Achafalaya Basin to live either on or off grid, maybe a houseboat, shanty house, or a place I can work on a bus conversion project, or houseboat? I prefer on or near the water so I can launch a small boat, as I prefer to hunt and fish for sustenance. Living off the land is important to me. Many thanks for any help. I forgot to add, 2 adults, a cat, and a small dog. Looking for rural type areas, not interested in city slicker, fancy stuff, the simpler and less fancy, the better. We're conservative Christians. Best wishes and prayers for all y'all's help and God bless. C.M.

      @@theemeraldfox7779 Howdy,
      Don't mean to bother you.
Was just wondering if you might know any local folks willing to rent an old houseboat or float house they might not be using?
Looking for monthly, likely for 6 months to a year or possibly permanently.A small cabin would be an option too.
Just need room for 1 adult, unless I get married, a small housebroken dog and a cat.
I'd need electricity, not much. I can easily get by with 20-30 amps of 120v, I don't need 220v.
Water would be a bonus, but I can improvise on that. Looking for as is, or basic simple living.
I don't mind as is, I'm good at plumbing whether it be copper, PVC, black pipe or PEX.
Good at electrical and pretty much any types of home and vehicle maintenance, if that helps.
In this economy, maybe something might work out that would help me and the renter out.
I've been trying to get a hold of a realtor from Louisiana that specializes in, small homes and tiny homes and other alternative housing, but haven't been able to reach her for some reason.
My apologies, I don't mean to take up too much of your time.
      Much appreciated, God bless,
