Your resourcefulness is admirable 🙂 and being resourceful is also time consuming. That is a hard concept for people that have never gone without amenities.

So So So True ! If we could only show all them little things ! Your dong a great job with the important things first Thi 👍, as long as you have a little invertor generator to keep the power station charged on those snowy days & a wood stove you won't be cold or in the dark :)

Keep plugging away , for your windows get the window shrink wrap , with a camper and propane heat you will never get those windows dry in winter , as they are poor windows for the cold , so condensation will always be there , but the shrink wrap will help keep drafts out and heat in and make huge difference I do it to my ice fishing shack camper windows and my house windows in winter and it makes a huge difference ,

    1. What is unorganized(unorganised) land? Check out our video on purchasing our land here: ua-cam.com/video/2sQ5rv8O6OM/v-deo.html
    2. Do you have clean drinking water? How do you get water? We have a video on our well build here: ua-cam.com/video/yG5S2xz2Iww/v-deo.html
    3. Are you working on the land and homestead full time? Gina works full time. So we are on this journey as just your average Canadian family. Building a homestead with 3 kids and having to work full time makes it a slower process. Although, other people sharing their journey on UA-cam are on their homestead full time and don't have to work; that is not our reality and the reality of many.
    4. You are off grid... how do you have internet? We use Star Link and we need it to work remotely. Off grid definition means: not using or depending on public utilities, especially the supply of electricity. And it might look different for each person.
    5. How were you all able to move off grid with a family (3 kids + our 2 dogs) - check our 1 year update video where we share our journey from the beginning: ua-cam.com/video/tVh59S8QHWw/v-deo.html
    6. Why don't you leave your dogs off leash full time? We do leave our dogs off leash at times (you might have seen this in some of our videos). The reason we don't leave them off leash full time:
    1. They've got hurt many times and were not able to walk
    2. This breed is known to run away and not come back.
    3. They live inside the trailer with us where we like to keep a clean space. These type of dogs have a lot of fur that gets tangled. And they love jumping on mud. We don't have the time to groom them everyday for several hours.
    4. In the summer the flies and gnats eat them alive.
    5. We want to keep our outside space clean and livable. This breed is known to destroy everything and have done a number on some of our things. To keep our space clean from their droppings and for it not to smell because they will urinate everywhere.
    6. We are surrounded by crown land and people hunt and trap in the woods. There is also wolves and they are known to kill dogs.
    7. Why are your dogs using a muzzle? That is not a muzzle it's a gentle leader. These type of dogs are extremely strong and if they see a bird everyone goes into the woods flying. For our safety we need to use the gentle leader at time. Gentle leaders do not close the dogs mouth... they can still open their mouths and even bite, eat etc.
Some people tend to romanticize the process of having animals and letting them free. They still enjoy the woods but in moderation and as along as they are safe!
7.. Do we have Patreon or/and Amazon wish list? For now we are only here on UA-cam and offer a membership. Check out the description of this video to learn more. But honestly... a like is free and we hope our videos can help you learn more about off grid living and how it can look different and maybe even be comfortable. We don't have an amazon wish list at this time as we would have to show our postal code. We want our location to remain private for safety and privacy reasons. We share we live in Northern Ontario and that's what we feel comfortable sharing. But thank you for those who reached out wanting to gift us some things for our homestead because you are enjoying our videos... we appreciate the love!
Have any more questions? Just let us know! God bless!

Ha ha we are normal people. I beg to differ. We are a special breed lol. Took me a couple hours to watch this episode because chores need to be done. Hot soup is on the wood stove. Hubby (also Portuguese) is helping a friend today too. When things are super crazy we mix up a protein drink during the day but always have a meal for dinner. ❤

Have you ever considered getting a shot gun and harvesting those Grouse? In sure you also have Rabbits. They are very tasty and nutritious. A single shot 12 or 20 gauge shot gun is all you would need. They are not expensive. Also being you live in the wilderness your family should learn some survival skills such as hunting, trapping or snareing Rabbits and Squirrels! Snares are very cheap to buy. Rabbits are easy to snare once you get some snow as you can t0see there runways. You can find videos on how to do it on youtube. The wild game will cut down your grocery bill. When i was young we were poor. I hunted and trapped, Snared Rabbits , Squirrels and Grouse. I also hunted deer to feed our family. These resources are at your doorstep so you may as well use them. Also living in the Bush your whole family should know how to use a firearm for protection and hunting! Keep up the hard work!

For the outdoor area maybe some Solar LED outdoor type lights on a pole...self sufficient and provides some light during the evening for outdoor activities... so far luckily being November we been lucky no major snow or freezing temps...

Thi If you tape plastic over the outside of windows you don't need to open it will hep with condensation on the inside, It may frost up between in cold & you won't get as much light, My old house trailer had poor windows I would put it on the inside it spots the heat from the glass & creates air pocket that works like insulation :) Try a couple see what you think, Good luck take care

Water is life. Last winter we had to go to our well and fill up 5gallon jugs over the winter. Summer is fine as we can run a hose up from the well. We finally got our water tank in the ground filled and plumbed into the cabin. I can't imagine doing this offgrid life with small children while still setting up. You are doing a great job. There are so many challenges on the daily. Slow and steady wins the race.

For RV windows, you could try window shrink wrap kits. They come with double sided tape you put on the frame, then a plastic film to cover the window and last you hair dry it to smooth it out. Basically it would make the windows into air tight double panel windows but you won't be able to open. You could also experiment by putting some insulation between the glass and film like clear bubble warp, clear double wall polycarbonate sheet, reflective bubble warp or rigid foam.
