Awesome idea!! I've been buying the mats off Amazon and you're absolutely correct, they are expensive. They work really well and I don't have cracked eggs any more. I just wash and replace when they get soiled. I have those metal nesting boxes that hang on the wall in a cluster of 6 and it is difficult to keep the hens out of there at night. I hope these work well for you and I'll definitely be checking out the link for a less expensive way to line the boxes. Blessings always, g.
It's wonderful when you can use what you have to find a solution to a problem! I love it. If it is a table runner, I just hope it wasn't part of your wife's plan for a fancy Easterscape on the dining room table. Lol
We have one rooster left. They stopped laying not sure what happened but couldn’t keep putting feed into them with no eggs. I may have stressed them out l when I combined the two flocks but we went a long time with no eggs. Would love to try them again at some point
@@KCFarms Good thing they were dual purpose birds. I am thinking of trying them but I'm on the fence. Thanks for your reply, I am enjoying your videos.
Those mats might be the way Where do you find them Lowes / Home Depot etc Might want to do a video about egg selling and find best carton’s etc . Or incubating them . Cartons are getting crazy on price here . And I tried selling my eggs to compensate for price 5 a dozen But I have a lot of competition so it’s 3 for a dozen 5 for 18 2 for half dozen . To get my best prices I have to travel an hour or so to the city to get 5 or 7 bucks a dozen.
It does not pay to be a chicken, even if you're free range and are allowed to cross the road once in awhile. If they don't get you when you're an egg, you end up in the frying pan or oven, or having your liver removed and made into a nice pate that can be shared with the whole family.
I love watching all the different roosters, the colors how they stick out .
That look like a winner. Clean . There so clean. You would think they like to walk on that felt . More comfortable.
Hi, it looks very neat and tidy but have considered that when the chickens scratch and peck that they might ingest plastic particulates?

Haha good point thanks for following along
To use up eggs, I love making quiche with ham, cheese, and spinach. Eggs are also great in breakfast casseroles, the only way my son will eat eggs!
Send us a recipe for the quiche @ kcfarmstn@gmail.com and maybe we can mention you and highlight it in video if you want
@@KCFarms Will do!
Have you had any issues with them pecking or trying to eat the pads?
No we haven’t
Great idea!
Thanks
Wish I lived closer
Add curtains on outside of nest box they like to lay where it's dark

@@KCFarms Yes, but chicken does taste good.
Sponge Cake/angel food cake uses a full dozen and is not only good, but even safe for diabetics..(I always use 13 for extra lift)
Don't the green color make them won't to scratch around
🙂
