The best bit of the video for me was the itemisation of who you can and can't use this on as I have been using this since Vesper did a video on it a couple of years back so cheers for that Jimmy. I'm sure you know but you can use the second of your setups as a bait for Ken, Akuma and Sakura's DP by taking a slightly longer step backwards. The delay means the fireball will hit them just after the invincibility frames and the extra walk back puts you just out of their reach. I have been thinking about making a video about all the breaker techniques I have picked up and developed but I don't have the time to do it. I'm sure you know this already but here are some I know if that might be of interest to you:
The first is from the target combo (or HP into HK), V-trigger, charge EX-fireball. This will hit both back risers and quick risers and it is safe against some characters with a short DP especially if you manage to get a mp before the target combo for further pushback. You will get beaten by a 1 frame fireball invincible move like Alex's air stampede. Use this like you suggested set up 1 should be used but add characters with a short DP like Ibuki to that list. If your opponent constantly uses back rise there is little reason for you not to use this setup (except when the opponent has full meter) because all DPs are out of range and most moves that are fireball invincible are that little bit delayed in hitting you so are safe (or have the chance to reverse if you are mental). If you have a read they will stay down wiff a MP as they are about to hit the floor then full charge a normal fireball. It is safe against 1 frame invincible moves and short DPs and requires no meter meaning it is a very powerful tool if you are fully stocked. Against Ken, Akuma and Sakura etc. walk backwards as the opponent falls before going into the wiff/charge as this will put you far enough away to miss the DP's first hit. Another way of covering the no recovery option is dash back, walk back a tiny step, EX-Hadoken this is completely safe against 1 frame fireball invincible moves and any form of DP. Un-safe against fullscreen CA's but can possibly be used as bait if you don't take the step backwards (tested with Cammy).
The second is from from ex-fireball, v-trigger cancel (shout out to Ponchuffy) and is best used as a poke confirm like: cMK, EX-fireball, V-trigger charged EX fireball. This covers back and quick risers and is completely safe from all apart from full screen CA. To cover a no recovery sweep twice then ex-charge or back dash, sweep then ex-charge against the long reach DP characters. Both are safe against 1 frame fireball invincible moves. You can also us the manually timed method of wiffing MP into charged normal fireball as that works any situation where you can move whilst your opponent falls to the floor. I only ever really use this if I know it will kill or stun where V-triggering from a fireball into DP will not because it is far too meter heavy. A very good tool to close out games though as all in, the follow up combo (fHP, crHP, light tatsu, EX-DP) added to the initial crMK, EX-fireball will do 347 damage and 573 stun compared to the 258 damage and 375 stun of a crMK EX-fireball V-trigger, EX-DP.
I hope this is useful to someone somewhere.

@@XxImStarvingxX as it happens, I did end up making a couple of videos about Ryu when I was playing regularly. If you're still playing the game some of them may be useful:

Jimmy I picked up Ryu with help from you bro! It’s definitely harder to win with him then guile. But more gratifying. At first I was hopeless and blamed his mechanics. But slowly getting used to him. Your tips help a lot. Thanks!!!

From a scrub Nash player: in S3 Nash can wake up with regular VT, which is fireball invincible starting f1.
Great video though, a lot of information ;)

I'll have to test this, but I think Ibuki's EX Raida goes far enough to punish setup 2.
    Tested : doesn't punish setup 2.
Vega can avoid the guard break with Ex Crimson Terror (which is only -2 on block), but he may get punished.
FANG will be able to weasel out with EX Nikankyaku, but may get punished hard.
Those are the ones I can think of, but even when they don't get guard broken, the setups will still be useful to make them worry about spending meter.
Good tech. Definitely learned something useful today +1

yeah claw & fang can always get out if they have at least 1 EX bar that's why I put them in the "No Setup" list.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t Juri punish setup 2 with an EX Ryodansatsu (quarter circle back kick)? It has projectile invincibility from frames 1-27 if I’m not mistaking.

      @mdz_jimmy  6 років тому

yup you're right :/ I'll put it in the description that's all I can do for now. I technically also made a mistake because I put ibuki in the "setup 2" category even though she can beat setup 2 with ex raida from most ranges.

hey Jimmy. Can't Juri ex Flip kick out of these setups? Cause the ex is fireball invisible from frame 1!

You're not pronouncing "Ryu" correctly. I did it for 28 years until I learned. So I'm not trying to make fun.
    It's pronounced "Roo".
