- Video clips from the 2011 season showing horses and riders having a bad day. Video by MovingImagesNW and from a variety of events from the year. PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING: Use the old adage - if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. These brief clips are only moments in time and do not give you, the viewer, the whole story. Some of these events are recognized events, but most of the bloopers here are from schooling shows - so give a little grace to the horse and rider as they are probably learning the sport or moving up a division/level. There could be a variety of reasons why the horse refused the jump or the rider fell off and making a snap judgement about the moment will not be tolerated. The horse at 1:10 is JUST like the horse i train with. He is an 14 hand tb/percheron/welsh cross Hunter! But sometime his draft comes out and he refuses jumps! then jumps it and then bucks you off! I have never been bucked off and only have fallen off once in my riding years! But i fell off once because the pony stood infront of a jump, the second i let go of the reigns, he jumped the 3 foot jump and i feel off cuz my foot was out of the stirrup and i was NOT ready for him to jump from standstil
I'm not sure she has a youtube account, (can remeber it) but if you see it in other videos there are comments about it from her
I swear some of these horses are like "I'm gonna act like i'm gonna jump...them i'm not LOL :D"

the horse at 1:04 looks like the Hunter I ride he's an off the track Tb and when I first started his training he looked at everything even threw me off a few times but now all is well with us thankfully
@TieDyeDinosaur oh, that's terrible!!!! Your horse really had a bee in his bonnet, didn't he??? Sorry to hear about your injury, but hopefully you'll be "back in the saddle" this spring? Speedy healing!!!

I know almost every rider in this... and horse. They are NOT horrible riders, and half those horses are dirty stoppers.

The horse at 1:07 looked pretty rattled when he got the jump rails stuck between his forelegs...I once saw a pony who fell at a jump with a lattice gate on it, and she got her forelegs stuck in the holes of the lattice to her fetlocks. She wouldn't jump anything except crossrails afterwards because she was terrified of any sort of gate, so her owner trained her for dressage/equitation on the flat instead.

@mimagesnw She pulled a muscle in her back pretty badly coming down Snowy River as it turns out. She's usually quite the training level packer. I was unconscious for a bit and had a seizure, but am mostly okay now. Thanks for the well wishes and I will be back out competing in the spring :)
I was actually just about to post a comment about your fall saying how she must've been doing that out of pain. But I'm glad that you're okay, now! Good luck competing again!
sometimes i think horses are close relatives to rabbits - they can turn around so quickly :D

Everybody needs to calm down, its ok to pop your horse. Manners are important, my horse wont jump unless I ride her with the crop on her butt. If a horse refuses, he needs to be told thats not ok.I had the wonderful opprotunity to ride in a Karen O'Conner clinic and anytime a horse refused the jump she told the riders to pop them. There is a difference between discipline and abuse, and everybody needs to learn the difference between the two before they criticize these riders, or any riders.
donthatemuffins123 nope. u suck at finding horse language. the horse may be spooked or someone went too fast up to it. don't ever hit ur HORSE that hard!!

What? Its no fucking surprise the horse won't jump even small obstacles when the riders don't have a healthy relationship with their horse and also are that bad at directing the horse to the obstacle. It's fine to use the whip from time to time but not if the horse refuses to jump because it has no trust in the rider or is spooked, thats just animal cruelty and every rider that sees their horse as more than just a piece of sports equipment should fucking know that!

donthatemuffins123 The mare I ride will run out, only after being made to stop after a run out two or three times will she jump. As an off the track thoroughbred she doesn’t like standing still so she realizes that jumping when asked is bettter that running out and having to stop
