nice vid guys ,well its only taken me 3 years to get to this stage, lost 4 stone, off all meds, and have been walking 30 miles a week for the last year. I walked 15 miles the other day just to make sore I can walk from cocking to Amberly just need a weather report and get my daughters 18 birthday out the way and I am off on my first wild camp. you and lucy have inspired me so much, red wine and radio are packed lol.I will let you know how I get on if you still want me to,Time to leave my arm chair and go do it.once again a big thanks for the inspiration. I was actually walking in the moon light last night.ha ha.
That's great to hear David 👍. That's a fair walk from Cocking to Amberley so it's a good move to get some training in . The pub is well placed as well 👍. We'd love to know how you get on and enjoy the wine lol. Cheers . A+L.
Good on ya David.. I was in a similar situation 2 years ago. Couch potato.. Over weight and no drive.. Now lost 14kg , walk every day and I am enjoying life again.. Kudos and Enjoy Mother Nature...The best things in life are free.. True story..
About 30 years ago and almost to the day is the last time I actually set foot in the Pen y Fan area. Thanks to being in the Army, I always looked at South Wales as being grim vs North Wales being for fun! Your video of Pen Y Fan appears to have changed that perception of the area for me! I have always held the intention to visit and hike Pen Y Fan purely on the basis I could do it at my own leisure. I will say that looking at your video the area seems a lot more popular these days with hill walkers than what it used to be, but still not as busy as Mount Snowdon. Thanks for posting, I enjoy your videos and miss the UK for its diversity and accessibility of the outdoors. Greetings from an expat in Oregon.
Sorry but I could have sworn I’d answered this ? Thank you , yes Pen y fan is very busy these days , on the weekends in summer it is unbelievable and definitely to be avoided. It would be odd for you to visit again as mountains are the one thing that don’t change . Bet you have some great trails around you though 👍
Hey no worries. Yes here in the Pacific NW we are lucky. My last adventure a few weeks ago was Mt Adams in Washington and nearby South Sister near Bend Oregon back in July. Next year going to be in Europe for a few weeks and hoping to hit the Highlands and Snowdonia. Lol I’ll keep my eyes open for you guys. Showed a friend your videos she loved them. All the best and take care.
We’re jealous ! Have an ace time! We’re struggling to find the time lately 😩Nant Cwm Llwch is the car park and wild campsite ( if it’s still open ) in case you’re camping . If it’s not it’s a real shame , it’s an amazing place and the farmer who owns it is ace . Happy hiking and let us know how it goes 👍
Really good to see you both back on back on the screen, even better with Marley and now Han :-) as always a brilliant video, great shots and footage. We love taking our brood with us they love walking as for wild camping our eldest Caleb won't do it his anxiety is bad at the moment but zac is raring to go waiting on warmer weather for them now. That's a busy fell bet you missed the peace and quiet here's to more of Han joining you great to see take care Leona and chris
Hi guys . It was great having Han join us . He must have enjoyed himself as he came out again at the weekend for a night in a bothy. Now he wants to do a proper snowy winter camp 👍. Sorry Caleb’s having a hard time of it , guess it’s a waiting game , hopefully he’ll turn the corner soon 👍. We definitely missed the peace and quiet on Pen y Fan , going to the loo was a nightmare for Lucy lol. Noticed your hats in your last video, any chance of letting us know where can we get a couple? Take care . Austin and Lucy.
2 Feet Forward that’s really great about Han it’s fab spending time with the kids and them wanting to as well. Look forward to the video 😁 yes as the kids say our merch 🤣 they are available to buy have other things as well not that we sell a lot of you email at leonapye@hotmail.co.uk or Facebook message (Leona or Chris Pye) can’t miss our pic take care Leona and Chris
Hi guys that’s brilliant thanks. Send us a mail here footser@hotmail.com and we’ll send our details 👍. Have a great Xmas and new year!!! Cheers. Austin and Lucy.
Hi both. I have just finished watching all of your videos. Inspiring, informative and simply wonderful. I have recently started wild camping with my partner, although I'm not even close to being what I call a hardy hiker, thankfully my partner is! We are planning our first oversea adventure in June to Iceland. Believe it or not, I have not been on a plane since I was a child, so slightly apprehensive! I have a debilitating fear of heights. I climbed up Snowdon about five years ago following a family trauma. It was the most alive I had felt in a long while. Although I felt fear, I was just in awe of our surroundings. I'm now addicted! Keep the videos coming. It's a good reminder that normal ( whatever normal is! ) people can achieve amazing things. I adore Marley. His energy is relentless. Would love to take my dog hiking with me but she is getting on a bit now. After a long walk is beginning to suffer with aches and pains...a bit like me actually! You mentioned in one of your videos how great it is to have a partner to share these adventures with, you're so right. Stay safe and looking forward to a new video soon, hopefully? Sara
Hi Sara , thank you very much. Wow, Iceland will be amazing! At least the flight won’t be too long 😬. I’ve never been that keen on flying , much to Lucys amusement . Marley was 12 a few weeks ago so he’s really slowing down sadly which is making wild camping a bit difficult at the moment but we recently bought a camper van so hopefully we’ll get out a bit more . We had a trip to Snowdonia for new year so that will be up on here soon . It’s a bit different than the usual camping videos as in no camping lol but Marley got to come along so all was good 👍. Thanks again for your kind comment and happy hiking! Cheers. Austin and Lucy.
Another fine offering Guys and lady.. And Marley of course... Glad to hear the Lanshans held up.. Mine should arrive any day now.. I have Delta ground anchors, which I will use on the two main guy lines. Ground permitting... Had a radical change around with my pack, so looking forward to my next time out. about 6 kg lighter.. Sure that will make a huge difference up the steep tracks.. Done a brief review of the Mobi Garden 2 plus Alpine tent . After using it up Doi Inthanon.Highest peak in Thailand . I highly recommend it for winter use in the UK. Rock solid warm, water proof, and only 133USD.. On the down side weighs in at 3.8kg.. But plenty room for 2 and a dog..
Sorry , could have sworn I’d answered this ? The Lanshans are excellent for the money , you must have yours by now . The mobi sounds a good tent and I don’t think a good winter tent should weigh less than 3kg . We still use an original 90’s Quasar and it’s over 4kg but well worth it for the peace of mind . I spent a bit of time in Thailand also, wonderful country 👍 and I hiked around Chang Mai and Rai 👍
Your videos are truly inspiring for anyone or any new family new to camping. I saw the video about Marley, he seemed a lovely dog. Hope you’ll start making content again soon. Dave
Have to agree with other comments.. great time laspe shots and lovely camping spot again. A very enjoyable watch again Marley,Lucy & Austin .Take care and catch you on the next one for sure 🤗 ATB ALAN GREGORY ADVENTURES 🐕🐕🐕
took delivery of my Lanshan-2 a couple of months ago after seeing your lanshan2 tents in one of your other UA-cam videos , had a couple of nights out in mine and I'm well pleased with it although she does flap around in the wind , keep em coming ,cheers
@@2FeetForward i bought the green , the white was a bit too " hey I'm over here ! " , Yeah definitely summer use , it's so light especially compared to my last tent at 3.2kg ! looking forward to getting more nights out in the new year along with my border collie , your vids are great for getting me out in the hills , cheers for the reply ,be safe , Matt
Welcome back, great to see you guys out again... I found a New Pack and go figure I’m in the states and the back comes the UK. “Atom Packs” Nice kit 👍🏽👍🏽👣👣
I had never heard of Atom Packs but after looking them up they look great and quite the personal service for a change 👍. May well be my next pack. Cheers. Austin and Lucy.
What a great opening sequence and nice to see you are making it a real family affair now. No tarn dipping on this trip, despite the sun it looked nippy. Blustery night but what a great morning to wake up too and good to see Marley tail wagging and enjoying himself on the way down. I notice the sound and the video stability was still very good, despite difficult conditions. Never had a Gopro before but doing to have a good look at the Hero 7 Black, as an upgrade to my old video. Great watch, cheers Alan
Another great one-including that sunset! My trip to the Smokey's and the AT was epic (for me) about 50 miles and 15k in elevation plus I got to spend a week with my son.- keep up the great work and happy holidays!!
Sounds epic for sure and a heck of a hike! That's a lot of elevation. You can't beat a bit of outdoor time with the family, it was great that Han wanted to come on this one and now he wants to do a proper winter camp 👍Have a great Christmas! Cheers . A+L.
As ever, great to see you out again. Stunning views from the Austincam as usual 👍. Found it hard to believe that on the summit of Pen Y Fan, when you filmed a 360, I saw people in shorts, trainers and T shirts. Some people never learn. Anyway, great stuff, the tents stood up to some hammering then, worth the money you paid for them, and it makes you think that sometimes we do pay for the label. Take care you guys, ATB Dave
Hi Dave. Those folk didn’t hang around for long lol. We were very impressed with the tents so for £80 they’re brilliant value and you can get them in green now 👍. Cheers. A+L.
Beautiful sunset and sunrise! Enjoyed the video. One question. In that wide open space and with other people around where do you find privacy for bathroom duty call? No trees, bushes, etc.
Thank you. Good question . Most of the time you can find a dip or sheep hollow that will hide you but sometimes you just have to walk a bit away and turn your back ( number ones only of course). I guess it's the same for everyone up there whether camping or walking. We carry a sturdy little trowel for the other , wait till no one is around and get digging but that's a rare occasion to be honest as on single nighters we never need to go (thank heavens). Cheers . A+L.
Well has the lad caught the bug and going to start his own channel? Great to see you out again and sharing your experience, and what an experience with that cloud inversion. Glad Marley found time to join you also. Looking forward to your next one
Funnily enough he came along again this weekend and spent his first night in a bothy. He wants to come out on a proper snowy winter camp now so it’s looking good. It was a good one for his first as well 👍. Cheers. A+L.
Austin, Lucy you have just made my weekend. As per usual another excellent video put together. I have to say you guys are my outdoor icons. If ever doing snowdon let me know, I would love to have an adventure with you. Keep up the good work atb Martin 👍
Great video as always some great timelapses and really enjoyed it as this is only 40 mins away from my house I've never been up to watch the sun rise or camped but next year I'm doing both thanks for sharing a.t.b Andrew
Thanks for another great Video! Have you thought about goggles for Marley? I would imagine snow blindness would eventually get him. And if you need goggles he probably does too. Hmmm...something to think about.
Hi Marsha and thank you . We’ve tried goggles on him and he just won’t have it . He paws them off in a second it’s funny to watch. We also tried boots for the snow and he ripped two of them off with his teeth on the first hill . They cost over £100 😳. Luckily being a Border Collie cross he’s very close genetically to the wolf so he deals with the snow really well . Sadly he’s 12 in January and won’t be joining us on the cold snowy trips anymore ☹️. Cheers. Austin and Lucy. 🐶
I 'm guessing from what you said that you were out Sat/Sun... it seemed really busy ! Do you know if it is quieter during the week or are there usually quite a few folk about there? Enjoyed the vid BTW.
Thanks 👍. Yes , it was the weekend and very busy even leaving as late as we did. Weekdays are much quieter but avoid the school holidays if you like your peace and quiet lol. Cheers. A+L.
nice video guys, I did the exact same route in the summer except there was not a breath of wind on the top all night, amazing sunrise though...looking forward to your next post.
It was a blowy one. That’s the weird thing about our mountains. Even though they don’t have the height they really have a higher feel to them , partly because of our low tree lines and crappy weather. Cheers . A+L.
Thanks. it's a good walk , hopefully we'll get a bit of snow next time . North London originally but now a Hampshire boy for my sins lol. Cheers . Atb. A+L.
Hi Guys great vid as always. Is that car park just down the road from the National trust car park on the North side of Pen y Fan. Look forward to the next one .
Just stumbled across your channel and think it’s great Planning on getting into it again since my transplant hope to see you around hopefully any advice welcomed not done it for quite a while x daibach 🏴👍❤️
Great stuff A & L hope you manage more trips in 2019. I could come down on Saturday 9th March train back on the 11th. Ged might not make it can't say anything else. Have a great Xmas and 2019.
Great adventure and some super time lapse shots there. You put your heart and sole into planning these walks, explaining what you are doing and then camping out in all weathers and I can see 2 thumbs down. Least said the better about them 2. I enjoyed it anyway and the dog got a good walk out of it.
Cheers 👍. We always get a thumbs down . I’m sure one is from some twat that said we were a disgrace to wild camping and holding it back in the UK 🤣. Atb. A+L.
Your doing a great job. I know that and so does every one else. When your out on the trails people now recognise who you are and they all give you a warm welcome. I can't help but get a tad miffed off by those who prefer the negative responses. Your channel is definitely growing and good on ya.
Yeah definitely . A snowy one would be good. We're probably doing Snowdonia in the Christmas break and hopefully getting out again before then so we'll give you a shout 👍
@@2FeetForward ok super we have been bizzy sorting all wedding stuff lol etc just got a hillbouge nammjit 3 Gt tent as well going to Glenfalls Reservoir saterday nite in the wood to test it out
I have never heard until I saw this video, About the little boy Tommy Jones,, I find it hard that he climed that mountain on his own? Sad story and thanks for some smashing footage of the surrounding area☘️
A great place to walk. Not sure about the challenge implied in the video... have a map and compass and know how to use them - relevant safety/survival gear, camping equipment that is up to the task. I have regularly completed 1/2 day walks from the carpark via Cwm Llywch to Pen-y-fan and back with groups of 10 year olds. That there are so many on the summit at sunrise indicates the accessibility. Emphasize the enjoyment of the experiences rather than the need for frequent coffee breaks... and why camp so close to the path?
What are you talking about Gerard? What challenge and why the lecture on equipment and safety gear? And what relevance does you having walked it with children in half a day have? I used to run up and down this route in an hour , so what? As for the coffee breaks , we like a good coffee on the trail . Again , so what? Why camp so close to the path ? It was a flat pitch on the summit of a mountain . Again , so what? . These are our videos and our adventures , they’re not meant to be instructive or otherwise . If people want to use them as a guide or reference that’s up to them , not us and not you. I suggest you take a look at some of our other videos to see we are not the clueless idiots you seem to think we are. On second thoughts , don’t bother. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Lovely video guys and its nice to see you and Marley out again 😬 We were in the Beacons for our summer holiday and took out 7 year old son up to Pen-Y-Fan for the day, he loved it, not even one moan his legs hurt Lol - ua-cam.com/video/tF7YlEZnb1E/v-deo.html Im hoping to take him wild camping soon as I think its important to have good quality outdoor time with your kids. It looked like your lad enjoyed himself. Thanks for sharing ATB Mike StayCornish😬
Thanks Mike . Pen y fan is no mean feat at 7! It won’t be long before you can’t keep up with him lol. We’ll check out the link 👍. Han must have enjoyed it as we spent last weekend in a bothy in Wales and he wants to do a proper winter camp now. Just wish we had started doing it when they were your sons age 🙄. Cheers.

Cheers. A+L.
@@2FeetForward that's great. I'll look forward to that video and the future ones. Hopefully he will stick with it.
Fab video again! I still have never done a summit camp, it looks amazing! Love Pen Y Fan 😁
Thank you 👍. Still reckon Cadair Idris would be a great first camp. Cheers. A+L.
Stunning Cheers Mate
Cheers Mark 👍. Atb. A+L.
Austin, Lucy you have just made my weekend. As per usual another excellent video put together. I have to say you guys are my outdoor icons. If ever doing snowdon let me know, I would love to have an adventure with you. Keep up the good work atb Martin 👍
Thank you very much Martin 👍. We may well visit Snowdonia in the Xmas break but nothing definite yet. Cheers. A+L.
2 Feet Forward 👍
Great video as always some great timelapses and really enjoyed it as this is only 40 mins away from my house I've never been up to watch the sun rise or camped but next year I'm doing both thanks for sharing a.t.b Andrew
Hi Andrew. 40 minutes is perfect , you could decide to go on the day if the weathers right. Cheers. A+L.
I saw this video and I subscribed before watching it! Great wee video, stunning scenery too :)
Thank you 👍. Cheers . A+L.
Cheers. A+L.
Looks like you had a great trip. Can't wait to get back to the UK for some home adventures. Love the Brecon Beacons 😁
It was a good one thanks. I know what you mean , there's no place like home , or the Beacons 👍, Cheers . A+L.
nice video guys, I did the exact same route in the summer except there was not a breath of wind on the top all night, amazing sunrise though...looking forward to your next post.
Cheers Ian. That brilliant summer seems a long way off now ☹️. Atb. A+L.
enjoyed it even though kind of windy! Can't get over the lack of trees.
It was a blowy one. That’s the weird thing about our mountains. Even though they don’t have the height they really have a higher feel to them , partly because of our low tree lines and crappy weather. Cheers . A+L.
Another great video, nice to see you out again. 👍
Thank you , we managed to get out again this weekend 👍. Cheers. A+L.
2 Feet Forward great, look forward to seeing the video 👍
Another great vid 😊👍
Thank you 👍. Atb. A+L
really great video ! I did this route "backwards" finishing just below the car par in October. OI ESSEX geezah nice accent. Nice weekend for it.
Thanks. it's a good walk , hopefully we'll get a bit of snow next time . North London originally but now a Hampshire boy for my sins lol. Cheers . Atb. A+L.
@@2FeetForward I stand corrected re: accent :-)
My family in the Midlands reckon we all sound the same down here anyway lol
Great video. Lucy reminds me of a sherpa, the amount of stuff that she can carry lol. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks . thats why i married her lol. Cheers . A+L.
@@2FeetForward LOL. take the prayer flags next time :-)
Nice vid, good to see you back.
Thanks Tony 👍. Atb. A+L.
nice to see you all out again
Cheers Nicky 👍. Atb . A+L.
Hi Guys great vid as always. Is that car park just down the road from the National trust car park on the North side of Pen y Fan. Look forward to the next one .
I don't think so but not 100% . This one is a bugger to find if you don't use google , just search Cwm LLwch car park . Cheers .A+L.
Just stumbled across your channel and think it’s great
Planning on getting into it again since my transplant hope to see you around hopefully any advice welcomed not done it for quite a while x daibach 🏴👍❤️
Thanks David 👍. Great to hear all is going well . We’re not experts but anything you want to know just ask away 👍
Great stuff A & L hope you manage more trips in 2019.
I could come down on Saturday 9th March train back on the 11th. Ged might not make it can't say anything else. Have a great Xmas and 2019.
Cheers Eddie. 9th is good for us so it sounds like a plan 👍. Have a great Xmas and all the best for 2019.
@@2FeetForward OK barring emergencies Austin i be there , sort details next year and you all have a safe and fantastic 2019.
Gorgeous video! BarbroSweden
Thank you 👍. Atb. A+L.
So if your lad was up there on his own he would be known as ........Hans Solo !
Haha! Brilliant. Best comment so far 👍. Cheers. A+L.
I'd love to have a link to be able to read the headstone for Tommy Jones and what happened to him. ANy way you could provide a picture or link?

@@2FeetForward Thank you 🤗
Amazing guys can’t wait to meet up its been a while
Yeah definitely . A snowy one would be good. We're probably doing Snowdonia in the Christmas break and hopefully getting out again before then so we'll give you a shout 👍

Snows on the fan now
Would have liked some snow for Hans first camp. He says he wants to try a proper winter one now though 👍. Cheers . A+L.
Good video. The
Thanks 👍. Atb. A+L.
"Wow".
Thanks 👍. Atb. A+L.
Lovely video guys and its nice to see you and Marley out again 😬
We were in the Beacons for our summer holiday and took out 7 year old son up to Pen-Y-Fan for the day, he loved it, not even one moan his legs hurt Lol - ua-cam.com/video/tF7YlEZnb1E/v-deo.html
Im hoping to take him wild camping soon as I think its important to have good quality outdoor time with your kids. It looked like your lad enjoyed himself.
Thanks for sharing

StayCornish😬
Thanks Mike . Pen y fan is no mean feat at 7! It won’t be long before you can’t keep up with him lol. We’ll check out the link 👍. Han must have enjoyed it as we spent last weekend in a bothy in Wales and he wants to do a proper winter camp now. Just wish we had started doing it when they were your sons age 🙄. Cheers. A+L.
