  • Riding Shotgun Creek Or. on my 2019 YZ450FX. This trail is more technical that some of the other trails especially riding up the hill as I normally ride down it. With the constant rain that we've had, the it's washed a lot of the bigger rocks out of the ground plus the tree roots are more exposed.

    I just got one of these yesterday and absolutely love it. A lot of people say the 450s are way too much bike for the woods. Having all that torque to call on at anytime is super fun. It’s like driving a muscle car vs a boosted 4 cylinder around. All my other woods bikes have been MX bikes as well, the gearing on this bike is very nice for the woods.

      Congratulations on your purchase. It’s been a great bike, and completely trouble free.

    After riding 2 strokes my entire life in the woods, 4 strokes are like having training wheels, I love it. 450fx is my next bike, I want to see if they update the 24 with the new 450f’s changes from this year. Either way I am grabbing one next fall.

      They’ve definitely made the right changes, so I may look at the new model next year.

      @@heyitsyaboi9185 the 450FX is amazing the way it tractors up hills. You can a radiator fan for less than a $100 thru Rockymountainatv/mc.com

      I just got a 23 yz450fx, (wife bought it and suprized me) came from a yz250f, yes the 450fx overheats fast, 80 dollar fan kit solved that, I am 44 years old and weigh 220, and the 450fx just pulls up anything and has power right now any rpm, I love it, I ride more open and tight trails and on the road between trails, works great, took me about 20 hours to get use to it and to break in suspension

    what gear were you in for the dirt trails? really impressed how well its doing in trails

      2nd and 3rd most of the time. On the steep hill in the beginning I got down in to 1st for a very short section. 1st is too low for most stuff

      @@Rodneysnwridesandreviews you think the lower 1st gear is that big of a reason to buy a Yamaha? im deciding between kx450x but unfortunately no new used yz450fx in my area.

      @@MericanSlav I switched about a year ago to a 2022 YZ450F instead of the FX.
      For me personally, it’s not that big of a deal to have the really low 1st gear. The benefit of the FX is that it has the 18” rear tire, 2.2 gallon tank instead of the 1.6 on the YZ450F, 1st and 2nd gear are lower than the YZ450F, 3rd is the same, and then 4th and 5th are higher geared. The FX also tractors up hills much better than the YZ450F
      I normally ride more open and flowing trails, so for me, I always felt like I was in between gears on the YZ450FX where I don’t feel that way on the YZ450F.
      The FX model also weighs about 8 pounds more than the YZ450F does.

    • @Rodneysnwridesandreviews
      @Rodneysnwridesandreviews  Рік тому

      @@MericanSlav yes, the 450F springs were too heavy, which caused it to deflect off of rocks and roots. I had my suspension guy put the lighter weight springs for the FX in my YZ450F

      I’ve not spent a lot of time doing tight technical stuff, but because it has the low first gear due to the wide ratio transmission, it runs at a little higher RPM’s and you don’t have to slip the clutch at all. I could see with the YZ450F it may be a little different story.

      Oh this video must be special effects because everybody says 450s are way too much bike for single track. I say bull, I have never had an issue keeping up with 250s & 300s with my 450s in the tight trails. I have recently discovered the magic of a Rekluse however. No stalling, love it & Yamaha.

      @@jeffz2353 I’ve never tried the auto clutch before, so it would be interesting to see how it changes things. If they could only shave a little weight off the YZ450FX it would be perfect.
