Really hope you guys get some solid listens on other platforms - every time I look at the sub and view counts for TUP I'm blown away they're not way bigger with how amazing these episodes always are. You guys rock, keep doing it - if you stop I will be a sad boy, so don't make me sad ok?
@@Unreal_BE I hear you! I use a couple different podcast apps myself and often watch the TUP videos on the side while I'm at work and then give it a listen via podcast later when I can focus on it a bit better. I relisten to TUP a lot while painting as well...just good background noise :)
Aluminium/Aluminum came about through a typo. It was originally Alumium to tie into calcium, sodium, potassium, lithium etc. It was then changed to Aluminium. Then an advert for refining the mineral made a typo in the US, called it Aluminum, and it stuck. The removal of the U in words, like Colour, Labour, etc was due to the price per letter to print newspapers, so typesetters just dropped the redundant letters. Wouldn't surprise me if orientated/oriented is the same. Where's your head at definitely started as an insult, usually spoken to the inebriated, but it became so ubiquitous that it simply became "what's on your mind?" "What are you thinking about?"
Gotta give a moment to thank you guys for your videos/podcasts. You are one of the channels that has helped me to better understand various paints, materials, tools and processes. You share a lot of good and helpful information, and I thank you for it and very much enjoy your program!
Ever since I heard this next idea, which you reminded me of; I can’t forget it. Movie idea/premise: Kevin from Home Alone as an adult; defending his home on Purge night. My twist on the movie: His family is trying to kill him; it circles back that leaving him behind was not an accident (it did happen twice fyi). Kevin finds out his dad was either Mob-related or owed the Mob; and Kevin dying in the house burning down would have paid their debt. 😅 yeaaa, it’s dark. (Exits stage right)
I'm 15 minutes in, just want to say Scott a Kill Team battle report in your style would be sick. I really enjoyed the Kill Your Friends ASoIaF battle, despite not playing that game myself. I feel like it would be fine with less explaination of the rules, and those custom graphics, while certainly super cool, also felt a little unnecessary. The main appeal for me was the editing and cinematography, the overall pace, and you and your friend talking through your decisions on a meta level. Obviously I'm just one guy, but that's my 2 cents.
I'd love to make more battle reports, but I'm unsure if they belong on my main channel or not. I think I'll try one more time with a GW game to do some comparisons.
Another episode that's great! This is the only podcast I watch religiously. I mention it to all of my gaming buddies. Also, thanks for the use of my comment in opening. Sweet sauce!
Adam Savage often says, "I don't know how to finish the project, but I know the next step" Or something like that, essentially target the step you know needs doing, by the time you're done that you'll have more information and probably know what the next step is. Getting over the fear of doing something in the wrong order, and giving yourself permission to FIX a mistake.
Nice you enjoy the Great Pottery Throwdown, brilliant show. Think it's on it's 4 season now. The topic of of this podcast is helpful to me too, I'm trying to create some working space to start mini painting. Not into gaming but like the models so may go for larger size minis. Cheers Lads, enjoy your humour too.
If anyone is interested Gnomish Bazzar has the original formula speed paint on clearance 1.50 a bottle. I reuped the entire set as Im a fan of the original and no way i could pass that deal up.
When I started as a software engineer, the seniors all told me to do my best to AVOID the flow state. It puts you on auto pilot and you stop making conscious decisions about your work.
“Isopropanol” is actually a shorter/alternate way to say “isopropyl alcohol”. Chemically speaking, “isopropyl” is just a prefix, not a full chemical nomenclature.
Not one but two Home Alone movies without the original actor. But the older brother Buzz is in the newest one, that came out a year or two ago, as a cop. Scarlet Johansson was in the 3rd one as the kids sister, so that gives you an idea of how long ago it was.
My suggestions for them would be to use Amazon Affiliate program and sell products related to their hobby via links (and share them both on their own channels/socials). I love the painting videos. As a new member to this hobby (less than 3 years total - hey, I still feel like a noob okay😅) Your guys videos always teach me things. I’ve taken chances and practiced methods both of you have shared here on YT, and that’s been a rewarding process to see the change of my painting over the short 3 years. Second suggestion, more click bait titles on YT. I don’t see your videos pop-up on my main page ever anymore. I use to see them all the time, but lately (past 4-5 months) they have been buried. In my Miniature Wargaming quick search, I have people showing up I have never seen before - and usually end up going to by subscriptions and searching you both separately. Looking through the thumbnails and titles you’re using, it was the titles that stood out versus others in that ‘miniature’ search genre that stood out to me as possible algorithm fuckery. (Shrug) I’m just a dude who wants to see you guys succeed, so wish you luck, and sending my support!
I was involved in the pre kickstarter development of Guildball. Matt & Rich were looking for the next "Warmachine", a game to be tribal, adversarial and to become big in the competition scene. Rich having played extensively in European Warmachine championships. It was a very enjoyable game in our group because we have a very, fun first approach, however Steam Forged did push it a lot on the hardcore championship type play. The game quickly became unbalanced as new teams and characters were released without the in-depth longterm playtesting the Fishermen & Butchers had. After Dark Souls (which took 3 years from KS completion to fully deliver) SFG then went on produce a lot of licensed games, which damaged the company due to the poor quality of the game parts. Within 7 years SFG had grown from 6 staff to 37 staff unfortunately in March 2023 SFG cut their staffing by 1/3, and have struggled a lot in the last 2 years. Rereleasing Guild Ball comes across as a desperate grasp for money and company stability, however the release really needed to be handled correctly. Maybe National teams or a sci fi reskin may have worked, but releasing old product with the tone used in the release has only damaged them more. (in my opinion)
Scott, dont sauna when ur sick!! Saunaing weekens your immune system. WHich is the point, it makes it feel like its under attack so it growns and becomes stronger, like a workout. But you have to do that before you actually get sick, not during!
I'd like to imagine that the hard cut @21 min; was John going full Shia and rending his garments...damn you games workshop for upsetting my hobby hero, no capitol letters for you!
I mini painted in my twenties..and my friend was into board games and his pieces always needed to be painted. So we had each other to level up with. I'm in my early thirties now and free time is scares and not painted ne thing since I was like 28. I work at hobby lobby and I get a pretty mean discount on gunpla so I've gotten into that. Today I saw we were selling some pretty basic colors of Vallejo. And I pretty sick Gundam plastic mini...it's time to bust it back out
Imagine painting your minie in Photoshop, and after that think: "I like it, but I just don't want to go through that again."😢 Painting too much in Photoshop, when prepping also takes out some of the magic away for me.
Fk that sappy b.s. I got some sawdust in my eye, i need to go build a shed.... Really appreciate you guys and all the effort and enjoyment you take in your craft and pod.
I've been watching both individual channels for some time, and then I discovered this! Ninjon and Miniac - together?!?! Win!! However, most of the time I listen on Spotify. And, the volume is much lower. Can that be bumped up somewhat?
Hey miniac, excited to hear you are interested in doing kill your friends for kill team! If you want some help with the rules or some more experience there’s a pretty popular (usually 10-16 people) kill team night at the Gamezenter on Tuesdays at 6-ish! It’s a good crew that would be happy to give your some help with the rules!
Technically the metal was originallly Alumium. That’s what the discoverer called it. Then the American scientific community made it Aluminum. Then the English decided it sounded more Latin if they made it Aluminium. Or so I have been told.
Scott is quite correct about incorrect usage entering the language as canon but as he cautiously intimated, the direction is the reverse of what he assumed, i.e. Americanisms have been adopted in the UK and the rest of the Anglophone world due to the saturation by American media. Thus the archaism ‘gotten’ has now made a full recovery and the noun ‘foreboding’ is increasingly used as an adjective.
Scott you said that GW values community events, does that mean they don't value Canadian community as they haven't done anything here since around 2001?
Dudes ... You say Isopropyl, but what you mean is "isopropyl alcohol". Or, in one word, isopropanol. Similar to ethyl acohol/ethanol and so on. There is a naming convention for this stuff.
Well didn't GW announced, that the Golden Demon for Europe, will take place in Germany? I thought it is the announcement for the European GD and I count Britain to Europe (not EU, I know about Brexit)
You've moved away from the proper English you were given. Aluminium has no double O init come on you guys english isn't a hard language to grasp and I'm a fuckin glaswegian, the masters at bastardising scottish nevermind English.. lol. Outstanding podcast as per usual fellas
Both what? I was asking the person who said “I agree” whom he was agreeing with. FWIW I agree that the mic level is low. I still barely know what Jon & Scott were talking about because I could make out very little of it.
Just going to say. I'm not asking you to change who you are. You do you. I don't usually listen to the podcast mainly because of the language. I can't have it on with my kids around. Just saying if there was an edited version I would be more interested
Listening to Jon have proud dad moments with his daughter always brings me a smile. Another great episode, as always.
Really hope you guys get some solid listens on other platforms - every time I look at the sub and view counts for TUP I'm blown away they're not way bigger with how amazing these episodes always are. You guys rock, keep doing it - if you stop I will be a sad boy, so don't make me sad ok?
I normally listen on my podcastapp. Hope they can track that

There is also a song from 2001 called "Where's Your Head At?", by Basement Jaxx.
Worth watching the video for. :)

The Pottery Throwdown. We watch it, it's awesome. The results they have are amazing and so talented.

Been struggling with my painting improvement recently and this episode really is what I needed. Thanks guys
Thanks for the painting motivation...really really needed! Always good to revisit the basics and your processes.
Great discussion guys, always interesting to hear your work process.
Was listening to this and the Monument episode while I painted tonight. Got me through a great session, thanks guys.

Awesome episode.
Loved the topic and insights.
Working on my first larger competition piece. Lots of good input from you again, thanks!
Lol at the crooked camera.

Really enjoy the work, Team. Big luv.
"Great Pottery Throwdown". It's the show that made me suggest the mini painting competition to you guys.
If I remember my high school chem correctly (which I probably don't), isopropanol and isopropyl alcohol are the same thing.
Listening to this is always the best starts to my week "The podcast to enable your Mountain dew and tendie addiction"
If anyone is interested

I know who it is but thats cause of watching streams. Excited for the video
Did anyone else get half way through and then realize the camera was cocked so the wall slats were askew and then get super distracted? lol
Dude I came to the comments just to see who else noticed

Ok who set up the camera today Jon or Scott and how drunk were you when you did it??? #thetiltisreal

Sounds like you're describing a Dappled Grey. Fun fact: those horses are highly susceptible to melanoma.
Thumbs up just for the "Go-Bots" reference
I NEED THAT BALLSACKOMETER!
I wanna know where to find the army starting/painting points system and try to use it to help my friend get his ork army done.
Fk that sappy b.s. I got some sawdust in my eye, i need to go build a shed.... Really appreciate you guys and all the effort and enjoyment you take in your craft and pod.
I swear the intro gets louder and the mics get quieter with each episode xD
Also my observation. It clearly needs addressing.
I can't agree about the order of ops going from dark to light. Unless we're talking about starting with a zenithal specifically
I've been watching both individual channels for some time, and then I discovered this! Ninjon and Miniac - together?!?! Win!!
However, most of the time I listen on Spotify. And, the volume is much lower. Can that be bumped up somewhat?
I also vow to finish my dark eldar this year! 😈😈😈
Was funny to see the camera wasn’t straight this episode.
keep up the great tilted work boys.
Just noticed this as well.

We need the tup ballsack meter poster
I'm sure they don't answer questions on here but I gotta ask. Is this podcast named after the band Trapped Under Ice?
The horse your talking about is an appaloosa
This intro pitch sounds like Macaulay Culkin as The Punisher.
PS: Unfortunately GW does not deal in unquantifiable profits.
On topic...I feel I can use this advice blanket for dming for my friends lol
I'm born and bred Londoner , I say everything the same ways you do except for alu min ium
Scott you said that GW values community events, does that mean they don't value Canadian community as they haven't done anything here since around 2001?
Hey dudes!
Could you please record this louder? Im on max but it still is fairly quiet.
Cauley McCulkin.
Cool as always 👍
Could it be ebay mini rescue for the guest in the next tup?
Yo Ball Sack metric poster! Take my money!
Is your next guest the guy from Monument Hobbies/Pro Acryl?
Where's this ballsack meter poster already? :)
which one is pinky and which one the brain?
Why is it crooked? Is this a lazy dutch angle or what?
Dappled grey horse?

1:31:32 UK og words - America changed them for the worse 🤣🤘❤️
Dude I've been listening for years at this point, and I still don't know what Goodie PPs means! Someone clear it up for me
It's been years but if I remeber right it's just a silly way to say good people. They discussed it in a earlyer season though
Hard to listen to Scott's COVID on this one. Hope you feel better soon.
EOB is talking sh*t better represent Scott
Innitt!!!
Americans telling English people they're not speaking English properly is peak American

amazing, american youtuber discover american vs british english, we even learn that in german schools...
I am only 30 seconds in but it seems you're a bit quiet? IDK
Seems fine to me,
I agree
With whom? Audio seems low to me.
@@liberalhyena9760 both
