Hello my friends! Thank you for making this the most watched video on my channel!!! You can also consider supporting the channel on Patreon (www.patreon.com/backingtrackscenter). Thank you all!
I love this track and keep coming back to it. May I suggest a way to immediately find the 2 most “inside” notes all over the fretboard? There are 3 Dominant 7 chords in this Blues, so the major 3rd and the b7 are the best two notes. They form a tritone, meaning there are 3 whole steps between the 3rd and the b7. What’s cool about the tritone is that it’s the only interval that stays the same when INVERTED. So there’s also 3 whole steps between the b7 and the 3rd. The interval looks the same both as 3-b7 and as b7-3, like a short diagonal line. - Stick with me now. Play A7-D7-E7’s tritones as 5-6,4-5,6-7 on the D-G strings. If a bassist or accompanist is playing the roots of A-D-E, that’s all you need! Those 3 tritones will invert so that each one will form a diagonal line right across all 6 strings. So A7’s tritones form 4-5-6-7-9-10 (watch G-B’s tuning), D7’s are 3-4-5-6-8-9, and E7’s are 5-6-7-8-10-11. Go to any of that chord’s frets for 3-b7 when it’s playing and it’s guaranteed to be one of the 2 most “inside” notes. The other notes that you’ll be able to find around those 2 notes will be both part of that chord, and also part of that chord’s Mixolydian scale (1-2-3-4-5-5-b7). Those 3 diagonal lines will also be found for A7 at frets 10-11-12-13-15-16, with D7’s diagonal line one set of frets lower and E7’s one set of frets higher. - So if you want to solo over a Blues with 3 Dominant 7 chords (1-3-5-b7), this technique of finding the tritones is guaranteed to help you find the most “inside” intervals all over the fretboard. You can also find them on the B-E at frets 2-3, 1-2, and 3-4.
This is a great Cadence... great for practicing the one and a half step bends in Pitch... just let her ride up the back of your ear like a Whisperer🤘🏻💀
I'm am an Intermediate (or "Beginning-to-Intermediate") Bass-Blues player & listening to the Bass on this Blues Backing Track in A is a great learning tool! Thanks.
I'm a total beginer bass player myself. I've been working on these bass lines to make them as good as I can... many takes were done before this one.... lol. The bass line on this ua-cam.com/video/gyf8_c4Q4iY/v-deo.html has been my biggest challenge so far. Thanks for your kind words and for wacthig the channel.
Thanks for the great track! I hear A7/D7/E7 or A7/6-D9-E7#9. I use Mixolydian combined with the Blues scale, a different key for each chord: 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7. Even the last 3 notes of b2/b6/7 can be used chromatically!
Wow, nice! Your approach is very cool, I also like to follow harmony when I'm improvising, it makes more sense to me to do it this way. Thanks for watching!
@@backingtrackscenterHi! Try this: for A7’s tritones (3/b7 or b7/3), play EADGBE on 345689; play D7’s tritones all one fret lower as 234578; and play E7’s tritones as 45679-10. They are also located in other spots, and they can all serve as rapid ways to get to the best notes. Not only that but those tritones can also serve well to get to the CAGED chords which I see as EDCAG-7; here’s my 5 “shapes” which only use the DGBE strings to get located (all in the key of E here): E7, 2130; D7, 2432; C7, 6757; A7, 9797; G7, 999-10; and finally E7-shape again at 14-13-15-12. The E7 shape contains no 5, and the A7 shape contains no 1, but all chord tones are easy to find within these “shapes”. I want to pass these ideas on to some young teacher like yourself, as I’m hitting 70 this summer. Play around with these ideas, would you please ?🙏
I love this progression,It's not so restrictive as with, for example.. "purely" 7th based progressions. It's harmonic structure allows more scale possibilities than just the A min Pent....Try mixing A maj pent..and A Dorian with the A min Pent...works for me! also arpeggios +..Memphis scale , semitone runs, blue notes etc all work well with any stage of this progression
Wow! Thanks for your kind words my friend! I'm 100% with you, I like mixing minor, major, mixolidian, dorian and all the good stuff... that's my way to go.
Really good. I feel like SRV with this. One question? I can use your backing tracks for recording songs? I not do anything comercial with this. Only do my music and save this in UA-cam. Thanks

Awesome. thank you. I'm stuck in a decades long groove playing the A Minor pentatonic at the fifth fret, (and G at the third etc....) Any tips on breaking free into the other patterns you show with the dots?
Hey John! Are you familiar with the CAGED system? It will be a good star for you to break free of the pentatonic 1st position. Take a look a this video ua-cam.com/video/X9rYOhX77mA/v-deo.html hope it helps. If not, let me know, besides making videos I also give online guitar lessons, maybe we can arrange something.
@@Harpy-Mark-Tomlinson I appreciate it. I’m a guitar player, or at least I think of myself as one, but never played with a harp player. I’m thinking of starting my journey.
@@davidking2835 That's a great idea. Guitar and blues harmonica are made for each other. I've played in a few bands but my most enjoyable times have been playing with street guitarists. It's very easy, just ask which key he or she's playing in, take out the appropriate harp and play some riffs behind the guitar. As long as the guitar's in tune you can't go wrong. It always sounds great. Once the guitarist realises that you are capable he or she will usually give you the space for an improvised solo or two.
