They were winning at the end of last season, they added another number of great attacking options in Neto and Sancho and Felix plus got Nkunku back, they have the most expensive midfield in the world including two players that Liverpool would have died for, and one of the best players in the world over 2024 in Cole Palmer, they have more options in fullback and they have plenty of good players in central defense. But Slot made basically 1 signing but hasn't played at all, and replacing our best PL manager ever, our 3 biggest players are on their last yr of their contracts and has an aging squad and no natural DM that can play in his system, btu has made a monster out of all our midfield player, our attack is muck more clinical and our defense is one of the best in Europe. So for me, Slot has been better this season because he isnt only doin it in the PL but also in the UCL

Add to a squad which already spend more than 500 mil in the last transfer window. I dont hate getting it to either manager... Slot has come in to a well established world class team and made them better than last season but Maresca has done a insane job at "dumpster fire" Chelsea. Most pundits and media had them outside the top 4 and said they wasted over a billion on shit players that would never work together. You cant use the excuse he is able to rotate players in the conference league while before the season started the main argument that this project would fail was they had too many players and he wouldn't be able to manage them. Chelsea also have the youngest squad in the league and 2nd youngest in all of Europe. Its pretty incredible given the context and expectations before the season. Liverpool were still predicted a top 3 team, just they are overperforming while Arsenal and City are both underperforming.

Now it’s clicked, this is where we expect them to be at the very least with all that crazy investment. Liverpool is NO underdog story. Last season, after winning the Carabao Cup, they were competing for the quadruple till it fell away in the last month. This set of players were already at a high level and knew each other’s game- vital to get results on the pitch.
Whereas Maresca first has to get used to being a top-division Manager himself, build a team, give players confidence and improve them, and get results. The £1billion “invested” narrative is a fallacy, because Chelsea sold players and bought young players with potential. No guarantee it works.
