The best sports journalists seem to be polite, considerate and empathetic, and genuinely interested in the player as a person. The worst look at players as a commodity for media consumption.
Argentina would have not Won World Cup without this guy! I watched them closely, and Alexis really stepped up into the role as the central attacker midfielder who was the glue for the whole team! He was the key that held everyone together, you could even see it on the faces of the other Argentinian players as the tournament progressed and he just grew into the role and got better and better each game! They and me were all thinking, Wow! I knew he was good but I didn't know he was this good!! I genuinely saw him breed confidence throughout the whole Argentinian team, and he took a lot of pressure of Messi! He had the same effect as Kante had on Chelsea and France! The rest of the players looked at him and just thought, theirs no way we are losing with Alexis in the team! Highly underrated, rarely mentioned or talked about, but an absolute crucial component in Every team he's played for! And one of the most down to earth humble players in the Game!👏👍🙏

This is one of the best football interviews I’ve seen. Brilliant by Gary. And love that Macca has a reputation for being a student of the game because it shows here that he loves football and knows the history. Incredible character and am so happy he’ll be starting games for us for the next 10 years
What an absolutely human being Alexis is. The way he speaks on his past clubs and football in general in a second language is so impressive. A top talent and great character.
Yeah it's honestly so impressive. Not just expressing himself in a second language, but the way he thinks about the game, his position in it, etc. 20 years down the road I could see him being a manager. He strikes me as one of those players who is observing and learning all the time.
Saludos!
I don't think a single Brighton fan has a bad word to say about Mac My hope is he comes back to us once his career winds down and becomes one of them senior players like Dunk and Welbeck he talks about so fondly. That free kick against Leicester was world class, will never forget it.
"The difficult part is to understand that you are not at the same level as him". Very underrated statement. For me, Argentina suffered for so long and couldn't win anything because apart from having an average goalkeeper and defence at the time, a lot of players didn't really play for him in his younger years. I suppose you can argue that he was still building his legendary status and some were superstars in their own right, but that attack heavy Argentina team with Tevez, Higuain, Agüero, Palacios, Lavezzi, Palermo, Pastore etc didn't really realise early enough that they needed to play for him. On the positive side, perhaps it made the delayed victories all the more sweeter.
Linekar is a legend. He was such a prolific goalscorer - but you couldn’t say he was a footballer when he interviews. Not an ounce of ego - absolutely inspiring.
We love Alexis at Brighton. He's a brilliant guy with a huge respect for what the club did for him, and we do for what he did for us on and off the pitch. Only want to see him prosper! Mac is so humble and pure class on and off the pitch. He is the heartbeat of our midfield and when he doesn't play you can really feel his absence. Amazing, amazing player. Pure all-round footballing genius. Thanks for the interview Gary, awesome.
This was above average interview, much better than if shearer , micah were involved. Also it had a few extra layers, eg argie, world cup, in uk, and the gift at the end and personal note was classy and lovely.
I still remember thinking, when Macca, Enzo and Alvarez started the second match in the world cup, that this would change everything. And it did. They were the difference makers that allowed Messi to flow and achieve his final big trophy.
Such an underrated player for both Liverpool and Argentina. A real baller. As always Gary was the perfect interviewer to give us a peak behind the curtain and see the man behind the player. Fantastic.
Underrated by whom? 😂 not by me. Despite I am Dutch Macca is my favorite player of Liverpool. No Virgil, no Gravenberch, no Gapko and not even Mo. For me he scores a 9-10 every game. Incredible what he brings from the midfield. He must have eyes in the back of his head. Apart from me, I don’t think he is underrated.listen to Slot about him. He sees very well what he brings (to the others). But as a fan you want to hear that all time, like me😂😂. This interview is some time ago, but I wanted to react on your concern anyway. Cheers

Fantastic interview. No silly questions or attempts to get crazy soundbites. Alexis comes across as an absolute gentleman - humble, respectful, and honest. Gary has to be the best pundit \ host in the industry - its obvious he played at the very top level. His rapport (with players) and understanding of the game and what its like to be a pro player is obvious and makes his work so much better than anything he'd be allowed to do on TV. MOTD... Um, I think it's a sinking ship now that he has to go but I'm happy that we get to see more of him UNFILTERED. As for Alexis... "The best there's been from the Argentine". YNWA lad!

Normal???? Nothing normal about these two. One is a legend. The other will become a legend. But I get what you are saying and agree. They are so down to earth.
One of the best interviews so far from this channel. Alexis love for all those he played for and his loyalty is wonderful to see. Gary will be missed on MOTD but I hope he will continue with these.

I love this man so much, for being such a brilliant player for Liverpool, but also for keeping so down to earth and decent to all those around him. This interview truly highlights his warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit. And Gary’s interviewing skills were outstanding, the time flew by. This was a much needed 50 mins of pure joy. Thanks to all concerned for making this happen. 👏👏👏
I say this, as not necessarily the biggest fan of Gary, but that was without a doubt the best interview of a football player that I have ever seen and heard. Well done Gary and well done Alexis. Thank you. I really enjoyed that.
One of the things I love about elite footballers is their general intelligence. Of course he respects Gündoğan and being called in to play like him was the best thing Klopp could have said. These guys at the top aren't just talented athletes, but real students of the game and brimming with professionalism. Midfield talents like Alexis are rare indeed and there is no doubt he will be revered just as Gündoğan has been, or Xavi, or etc.. What a complete person, let alone footballer. Very impressed and hopeful for his future.
Brighton are such a good side and brilliant to watch and have been so for a few years. Alexis seems to typify the culture, he’s so humble and yet so competitive. Great interview 👍

Mac is so humble and pure class on and off the pitch. He is the heartbeat of our midfield and when he doesn't play you can really feel his absence. Amazing, amazing player. Pure all-round footballing genius. Thanks for the interview Gary, awesome.
Great interview. Amazing how Alexis picked up another language so quickly and sounds fluent.
This channel has become therapeutic, not sure if this is a good or a bad thing 🙂, Greetings from Tanzania 🦁
I absolutely love Macca. He's such an incredibly talented and intelligent player, and such a fantastic individual as well!
Top interview..Loved the conversation and calmness throughout the interview.
It’s still only World Cup though the quality of that tournament was absolutely dreadful like most international football these days
Best player to ever to grace soccer
Cheers
@@pieterwessel3733 He is so consistent right? But you guys have so many players in big leagues, and in Liverpool also the manager. Big respect to your football hope you win a World Cup some time. Greetings from Argentina 😀
@ thank you, very nice of you.
YNWA lad!
A very articulate, intelligent and well put together young man. A future leader of LFC? Very impressive interview.
Alexis is a LEGEND.
This was such a lovely light-hearted conversation. Lineker doing what he does best and overall a great listen.
He mention that his cousin play in Malaysia(for perak). He still mention that even his cousin not play in highest level as him. I can see how strong their family relationship ❤️
Love Mac Allister's calmness. Super player.
probably my fav of this show now....he play for argentina and LIVERPOOL!!! Doesnt get any better then that...and im swedish
30:05 much respect for mentioning Endo…♥️♥️♥️♥️. Great interview great guy!
This isn’t an interview this is a talk between to normal human beings .. such great talk ..
Normal???? Nothing normal about these two. One is a legend. The other will become a legend. But I get what you are saying and agree. They are so down to earth.
Oh Mac Allister
He’s the best there’s been
From the Argentine
Oh Mac Allister 🔥🔴
Two absolute gents, one a giant in the game and one who is on his way to being a giant. class pair.
One of the best interviews so far from this channel. Alexis love for all those he played for and his loyalty is wonderful to see. Gary will be missed on MOTD but I hope he will continue with these.
MacAllister would be an asset in any team
He's already achieved so much, but I wish him to stay healthy and happy and to achieve even more .Great interview !
Gary is most certainly one of the best footballer England has ever produced, but without a shadow of doubt he is the best football presenter. BBC MOTD will not be the same without him. Thanks for the podcast.
Still blows my mind he retired without ever getting even a yellow card
A genuinely impressive young man on and off the field, As a Liverpool fan i hope he stays with the club for a very long time and wins everything available
Gary lineker absolute national treasure legend of the game and legend on the bbc match of the day will be at a loss. Great interview what a class act Mac is 👍
This guy is a class act, quality player and good person too 👌
Mr.Gary Lineker this is the best interview that i have had in a long time.
I love his laugh 😂
Amazing interview and what a player...Alexis will get a huge Irish welcome when he comes to meet his family....
His English is amazing, good descriptive vocabulary and able express himself, seems a good guy too
I love this man so much, for being such a brilliant player for Liverpool, but also for keeping so down to earth and decent to all those around him. This interview truly highlights his warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit. And Gary’s interviewing skills were outstanding, the time flew by.
This was a much needed 50 mins of pure joy.
Thanks to all concerned for making this happen. 👏👏👏
Best player in the world
One of the few footballers who is honest and doesn’t speak in cliches or just look blankly at the camera after his mum cut his hair with a bowl. 🥶
Cole Palmer sees you.
This is fast becoming the best football podcast/channel so genuine and no bullshit
Not a Liverpool fan but really enjoyed this interview and have great respect for him as a man and player, fascinating insight
What an interview. How lucky we are to have football and characters like Gary Linekar and Alexis Mac Allister.
Lovely to hear him speak about what the world cup meant ❤.
What a lovely guy 👏 An inspiration to any young footballer, on how to behave on and off the pitch. So we'll mannered and polite 👍
Our best midfielder. YNWA
Mac speaks really well🔴
he knows how to speak, what to speak, if to speak
Macca what a guy🫶🏻
What an interview! Riveting, insightful and downright pleasant. Fantastic bloke Alexis and great job Gary!
Great interview. Of course I knew that Messi would come up, which made it even better.
Now that's how you interview people and Alexis. How can anyone not like him as a person? What a good job Gary's done here.
Is Gary the last of real men in football punditry? Class!
Gary a real man 😂
I say this, as not necessarily the biggest fan of Gary, but that was without a doubt the best interview of a football player that I have ever seen and heard. Well done Gary and well done Alexis. Thank you. I really enjoyed that.
Klopp had great eye for talent. Comparing him to Gundogan is so apt. I was so happy when LFC was able to land him.
I love Macca, has so much passion for club and country
Great interview! Absolutely brilliant from both Macca and Gary, felt like a conversation and not an interview, loved it!
Fantastic interview
Great to know that McAllister is part Irish ☘️ given that many Liverpool fans are Irish.
Another got away from us 😂
He could have played for Ireland .. lol and in his life would never have even qualified for a World Cup …. ☘️
More of these one to one interviews please, this is way more interesting than the usual podcast (for me personally anyway)
Great job Gary! Thanks for a great interview of one of my favorite players in world football right now.
Great job Gary. Alexis seems like such a nice, intelligent & well adjusted person. As well as being a fantastic player too.
This podcast has become a weekly essential for me now. Thanks Gary, Alan, Michah for putting up some banging content, week in, week out. Would be greedy and hope that we could get more content during the week 😄 Keep up the great work guys.
Gary, it was a joy to watch you play football. But your interviews are something else. Best sports voice behind a mic of my generation.
It's imposible not to love Gary. he is such a great guy, honest, truthful, i'm form argentina and since the 80s I always considered him an awesome 9, and a better person, i wish there we're more ppl like him
Macca is such a Great player.. oozes class... on the pitch and off the pitxh...very underrated midfielder...
Genuine, honest back and forth
Listening to this great interview brings back memories of the world cup 2022. As a Dutchman, the game against Argentina left a little scar and a lot of resentment against Messi's behaviour, but listening to Alexis shows the other side of the story. Its good to hear these stories, great interview Gary!
Resentimiento por el comportamiento de Messi??? Por qué? 🤔
What a guy and what a player Macca is, love this podcast probably the best sports pod on the internet. No bias no bullshit no bait can’t say the same for any others
Wow really bringing some brilliant interviews. Nice one, it's TRIFic!
