The art style, the music, the story is beyond beautiful. I'm a 40 year old married guy and I'm bawling my eyes.
Absolutely, the 26 episode first season covers 53 chapters, and few pages of chapter 54, and the total is 207, which means if they animate everything, there will be around 100 episodes, although the movie chops it slightly short

I am glad that I can understand japanese without relying much on subtitles. The song is just tailor made for this battle.
2:10 when the flash back starts it goes "close your eyes and recall it, the passing voice. There is no return, there is nowhere home. Nothing other than deep, deep darkness is left." Reminds us the simple, happy yet destroyed life of Tanjiro.
3:35 repeats from "There is no return" tells us Tanjiro has to defeat Rui no matter what or he is going to lose his very last little sister.
3:49 "A gentle voice that makes you wanna cry" This is how Zenitsu commented Tanjiro: He is such a gentle, kind-hearted person. All he wants to do is to save his only remaining family member: Nezuko. Despite being a demon slayer, he always treat demon, his enemy, with respect and mercy. Now, this gentle little boy must be a man who can save his sister's life.
4:02 "No matter how tough it is, go! Go! Move forward! Slash through despair!" which matches PERFECTLY with Tanjiro, who is about to run towards Rui while cutting his threads.
4:20 "Even if I lose, even if I lose, there is no choice but to keep on living! No matter how badly beaten I am, there is a thing I must protect!" again, FLAWLESSLY matched Tanjiro's determination of sacrificing himself to defeat Rui.
5:13 repeats 4:20, emphasizing the bond between Tanjiro and Nezuko. The best part is 5:34 "there is a thing I must protect", the camera zoomed into Tanjiro's eardrop, which symbolizes his family, telling us Tanjiro will protect his family at any cost.
Yes this scene is so fucking epic that I spent the past 25 minutes to write this comment that might not be seen by most users. Still I wanted to share with you, the person reading this comment, how the song makes this scene 300% more emotional and see if that gives you a stronger feeling. If it does, then my effort is paying dividends.
p.s. The song continues after the fight. That acted as a buffer along with the pictures of Tanjiro and his family. I strongly recommend you to continue watching with subtitles on.

This scene makes me feel that this is where all the decades of shonen were leading up to. It doesn't do any single element better than any other show but it does all of them together at highest possible level, as if people at Ufotable actually watched everything that came before, learned from that and poured everything they knew into this one scene.
And judging by the impact of this scene it's not exaggerated to say that. This is the scene that even drew so many people to read the manga that first time in ages a series overthrew One Piece in terms of sales figures. Literally nothing else between One Piece's rise to power and airing of this episode was able to accomplish that but after this episode the manga sales skyrocketed out of all previous charts. And this is happening within a year of Kaido's Devil Fruit reveal, while Reverie mini arc was ongoing and in the middle of Wano arc, one of the most aniticipated things in the whole series so the OP hype wasn't exactly down either at the time.
So again, I don't think it's exaggerated to suggest that this indeed may be the single best scene in history of anime. I certainly cannot think of single moment that left bigger impact.

he's hinokami kagura is not perfect yet in this scene thats why rui managed to move and survive but imagine tanjiro with full training and experience.

This episode still gets me no matter how many times I watch it. I'll be honest, the moment that hits me the hardest is always Nezuko and her mom scene. Add the music, the buildup and the theme with godlike animation from Ufotable and you get a masterpiece.
But on another note, I can only imagine the horror and the anger when they realize Rui pulled out a reverse card in the next episode

I don't think I can ever forget the first time I saw this scene. I VERY rarely cry over things, and yet even now, despite the fact that I've seen it over 20 times, this scene still makes me cry. The craziest part is that I don't even know why, I literally couldn't tell you whether this makes me sad or happy, but it just fills me with an indescribable rush of emotion that shakes me every time I watch the scene :'(
There’s a few factors that I’ll point out:
1. The breathtaking art/animation combined with the music; the music especially adds meaning to the scenes if you look for it’s translations
2. It’s well paced and has us engaged from start to finish. Never a wasted moment.
3. The brief moment of happiness with his family followed by brutal reality.
4. The bond between family or someone dearest to us; this theme is relatable to almost everyone.
5. The stakes. Death but also because Rui’s values challenges Tanjirou’s (and our) values of bonds/family. Overcoming this only solidified how much he cares for his only family left.
This episode is like a perfect pot of soup where there are proper amounts of ingredients all mixed in, complimenting each other perfectly to give you the best experience.
Ik this comment may have came out before the Mugen arc released on the anime, but the entire Mugen arc made me feel just like that. Ufotable really did set the bar really fucking high for me, nothing even comes clos to how I felt during that entire arc XD
I'm basically the girl in top right. I knew that the scene was hyped when I got into this series but I hadn't seen it or knew much beyond that. I was straight up crying for the last 5 minutes of the episode and even now, after watching it for like 100 times or so, I'm still crying just because how beautiful everything in it is and how well this ties everything introduced to this point together. This series would hardly even make it to my top 10 and just maybe to top 15 but this scene is perhaps the single most beatiful anime thing I've ever seen. I'm grown man and I feel no shame for confessing all this.
