- The plaintiff says the defendant is her brother, who has been and out of prison. She says he took her car and stole the property inside it while she was hospitalized after being shot, so she’s suing him. The defendant denies stealing his sister’s car and says the police gave him the keys at the crime scene so he could take care of it.
He can drive his sister car around but couldn't drive to see her in the hospital? She's better than me...

It's just proof that there's no rehabilitation in jail. Just like the pharmaceutical companies, the prison system is just a revolving door of repeat customers. It's going to get incredibly worse with private prisons, not only will we lose jobs because of prison chain gangs it will corrupt our politicians even more

How low down and dirty can you be! I believe he took the car and didn’t think she was going to make it. Then when she started getting better it was probably too late. He had already done damage to her car. This is why he didn’t call or go see her!

I’m sorry but the story isn’t adding up. Usually the district attorney will prosecute someone even if the victim doesn’t move forward. I feel like maybe it was a bf she doesn’t want to get in trouble or something.
I said the same thing at first but since this happened in Chicago I get it. Typical response of Midwest PDs unfortunately. The fact that she was shot in the back tells me that she wasn’t a threat at the time she was shot. I hope she takes JM advice and goes straight to the Prosecutor

I wish she would stop calling this grown man her baby brother. He have been using her their entire lives. He didn't have the heart to visit her while she was in hospital. He didn't have the integrity or love as a brother to take care of her property. Her car ran out of gas and he just left it there. He's done absolutely nothing with his life because he always have someone to use and lean on. This is truly sad. Also the shooting sounds like domestic violence.

If the defendant was a REAL ONE, he'd go after the person who shot his sister . If he keeps going to prison, it shouldn't be over some weed, it should be over some dude shooting his sister; and the plaintiff should be suing the person who shot her for damage's.

Seeing families in court suing is always a heartbreaking affair for me. Because at the end of the day they're supposed to be all you have when everyone else fails you. Sad and unfortunate
But he refused to be accountable for her items. Yes materialistic stuff can be replaced but at what cost? I would do just as she did, while this is not going to make a difference to him, at least she can get another car with the money she gets from the show.

Victim blaming in the comments is awful. There are some PDs across this nation that don't follow up with their investigations. This was an extremely traumatic event for her. I wish she had a victim's advocate to help her. It's a natural reaction to avoid events that continue to bring up trauma. This is why she could benefit from help. She didn't give her brother permission to take the car. She almost died, she was incapacitated. The police gave him custody of the car.
