Nice knife, But waiting over 7 minutes to see the knife is a huge bummer. Just an honest opinion! BTW..the sheath is injection molded plastic not Kydex. Enjoy
I wish they would go back to kydex..the guys at ESEE claim these injection molded plastic sheaths are better than the kydex sheaths because they are supposed to hold up better in extreme temperatures but I personally like kydex better myself
I personally prefer the ESEE 3 over the ESEE 4..I like the thinner blade stock,it’s much better for precision work yet still plenty strong enough to hold up to anything I would personally use a knife of this size for..neither the 3 or the 4 is big enough for chopping and I don’t baton with my knives(it’s rather abusive)..I would like to see an ESEE 3.5,with the length of the 4 and the thickness of the 3...I have the Izula,S35VN ESEE 3,1095 ESEE 4 and the ESEE Junglas..I like them all but the 4 is probably my least favorite and least used out of the ESEE knives I own..with that being said,I’m still highly considering adding a S35VN 4 to my collection
@@garrettferrell6821 well put! My Ontario Rat 3 fills that similar role to the E3. I need to get out and put the 4 to work to see how it fits in to my usage. I agree with you about bringing the right tool for the right job. It will be interesting to see if the 4 replaces the use-case of the 3 with more versatility or I see myself packing up the 3 more regularly. It is still a great bargain for S35VN with a lifetime warranty.
@@theintermittentgentleman9517 I think the 3 and the 4 complement each other rather than compete with each other. I definitely recommend owning both of them - especially in S35VN!
Do you have the standard slab scales or the 3d scales? I found that using the thumb ramp and "popping" the blade from retention and then pulling out of the sheath is my preferred method. Trying to pull directly from a hammer grip feels a bit clunky/disjointed - its as if you are loading up a bunch of energy against the retention and then as soon is it breaks you have to quickly adjust your draw strength or it seems like your really whipping the knife out there.
@@mrgreen9582 It should loosen up a bit after some usage. If you have already done a decent amount of draws and its still pretty tight - take a look inside the mouth/opening of the sheath. There should be some raised dimples towards the bottom of the mouth. Retention on the Esee sheaths is at the quillon or finger guard at the grip. You could take some very find sand paper and polish those dimples - go very slow because once material is removed it can NOT be put back. There are also some lubricants out there that may help - www.amazon.com/dp/B075FZ2G8S/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_PQ6A62QV9MJE5H9CNSFW
With use that will ease up...the nubs on the inside of the sheath can be taken down (JUST A LITTLE) with an emory board but I would suggest you use it more and it will loosen up.
Perfect review for where I am at. I recently received the Essee PR4 with leather sheath and 1095 stonewashed blade finis. Gonna order the kydex type locking one for it. I also have the Essee 4 with brown 3D handle (love color) but also with 1095 blade with gree coating on order but not shipped yet! Can not order same handle scalescuz not offered, but thinking about canceling my order and getting the one you have in s35vn or the black handle one. Those are only ones but I just do not like limited 3D handle option if you go with a Essee 4 in s35v. I saw those walnut extended handles you can order separately but those also look thin like the micarta ones!
Thanks Armand for watching! I'm not the biggest fan of the OEM 3D scales either. I really like the Knife Connection extended ones. If you want send me a DM and I can send you some more pictures comparing them to the OEM E4 3D scales.
@@theintermittentgentleman9517 thanks brutha. So basically in your opinion I should get a S35, and order those extended walnut scales through knife connection for it?
@@armandcouture4655 I'd say if you want stainless and are ok sacrificing some of the abuse potential that 1095 has then I would go with the S35vn. I would say that the extended scales are almost a must on any Esee 4 version. Those burlap scales look really good!
@@theintermittentgentleman9517 well if you hard use the 1095 and that coating wears off over time I find that kinda ugly and then your blade becomes exposed and vulnerable any how. Plus that Essee I bet wears off with it! Lol. Better to have it etched into s35. If ya want a beater over edc then get a 5, 6 or a Laser Strike!

Thanks so much for the view! Truly humbled. You make a great product - hard use knives made by hard use knife users!
I bought this same exact Esee 4 S35VN a few days ago, and its easily my most favorite knife already!!!!

to be fair, it is an initial impressions video. Maybe a timestamp or a comment at the start of the video would help with that issue.

@@garrettferrell6821 I'm a fan of the taco style sheath anyway - I would probably end up going aftermarket even if this one was kydex.
I like that knife. I just got the esee 3 in s35vn and it is razor sharp and the perfect size for edc
I had my eye on the E3 in s35vn as well! Cant beat their quality or lifetime warranty.

On your Esee knife box did you also got a CANCER WARNING,like I did on my KA-BAR boxed knife set?
Gunter - neither of my Esee boxes (4 or Izula) have that warning.
