Holy smokes!!! You are just genius. I love R5D4 and if I had the money, I'd commission you to build one. This is just wonderfully fun and amazing. Thank you for sharing your skill. I knew I was in over my head when I already had no idea how to use or install the very first component you mentioned This type of work is so far beyond me, it hurts my brain.
Ian, I've told you this before...but it was your videos that inspired me to take the plunge into droid building! Such a great R5D4 you have here. Thank you for the inspiration.
You sir are awesome! I just started printing my R2D2 dome. I don’t have any electrical experience other than soldering lights for my projects. But more than willing and motivated by this video to learn.
Funny thing about using compressed air as a fire extinguisher is that the propellant is flammable! But it's a cool effect. I'm not knocking it. I enjoy irony.
Awesome job. As a kids magician and I use a similar vape setup, triggered by a key fob remote, to make smoke come out of my top hat. This R5 build is awesome. Nice work.
This is am amazing demonstration. Could you provide more detail about programing the Arduino and using the servo pwm boards or provide links on where to learn droid programing?
Thank you thank you thank you! That zapper and a lot of your tips and tricks saved me a lot of work. I was about to work on the model for the zapper, I'm glad someone else did it and put it out there so I don't have to redo it. Awesome!I'll chicken out on having the actual zapper part though. :)Awesome work and awesome droid!
Please let me know how you got started into all this (electronics/robotics) and where/what was needed to learn it. I have an interest in getting into robotics myself but it's intimidating. Also what did you do to figure out what to use and buy to make all this happen?
maybe a niave question. researching at the moment and haven't started a build. what did you use to cut the guide rail in half with. the one you bought 12 inch and needed 2 6 inch. thanks
Hey Kevin! More information about my MagTag connectors can be found here: astromech.net/forums/showthread.php?33643-MagTag-Magnetic-Dome-Connectors-BC-Approved-Continuous-Various-(Oct-2017)-Open

Really making me regret the decision to make my droid a static display piece.. Guess I'll have to build another haha

I am now in the same boat. Except I just ordered my printer. This man is something outta this galaxy.

Sweet, thanks for the info!! Taking lots of notes for my Astromech build.
Epic R5. Just awesome
Awesome to say the least. Makes me want to learn how to add cool stuff to my r2d2.
Love it! The ingenuity you have is outstanding. Very inspirational and creative. I will definitely be using your ideas.
So awesome! I would love to build a droid some day. thanks for the video!

this is one of my favorite Droid in all Star Wars. that's why I made one at Disney this year. lol thanks
Awesome work.
Thanks for sharing and detailing mate!

Brilliant!
What lights did you use? and how did you install them?
Excellent post 😀
great video and of course R5 & his components.
Thanks a lot, this will really help with my R2 build
Are you using the SHADOW MD control system? DO you control all of the gadgets with the PlayStation move controller or with a smart phone?
vape pen idea is amazing
Thanks Ian!!!!!
Are you using the shadow system
Where did you get the gear for the lazy susan mechanism?
Amazing
Have you changed the design yet for the motivator? Is so can you please post a new video for it.
May I know how many hours total you had to made this bro?
Fantastic!!
wish i understood arduino enough to be able to have and control that many servos.
or even get a controller to work. :P
Is is possible for someone to make the unit retract the third leg and stand up?
There are Astromechs that can retract the 3rd leg but it takes up most of the space inside the droid so there is then no room for other arms.
Wow! It's a Swiss Army Droid.
Are you going to share the code.
Do you still sell the dome magnet connector? I would love to know more info on them.
Hey Kevin! More information about my MagTag connectors can be found here: astromech.net/forums/showthread.php?33643-MagTag-Magnetic-Dome-Connectors-BC-Approved-Continuous-Various-(Oct-2017)-Open
I like robots
Are you selling droids?
lol I have no idea what your talking about.
