  • Bled, Slovenia to Venice, Italy
Remember how mixed up and exhausting the journey from Montenegro to Zagreb was? • 11 Cetinje, Montenegro...
Well, my trip from Bled, Slovenia to Venice was absolutely the opposite. The day progressed like it was charmed and I enjoyed the trip immensely-even down to my emotional arrival in Venice.
Anxiety of the day: “What??!? They don’t allow rolling luggage in Venice???”
The website I mention in the video that is so helpful when planning any train journey: The Man in Seat 61 www.seat61.com/
    A note about this journey:
On November 18, I departed Kutaisi, Georgia on an expected 2 1/2 month winter journey to Pamplona Spain. Most of my travel will be by train because I LOVE trains!
I plan to continue documenting the entire journey across the south of Europe with lots of details so you learn how I travel independently and solo! So stay tuned...

Hope the rolling luggage 🧳 rule isn't real. My wife and I go to Venice Mar 6 to 9 and then to Istanbul. We are are just in week 2 of our 4 month travel to Europe. We are retired nomads just beginning our adventures together. We enjoy your videos and your book. Really helps with the planning.

No, it is not true. But I was not completely sure until I actually arrived and found everyone rolling luggage...LOL. What happened was that the municipality made a rule that delivery carts had to have quieter rubber wheels a couple years ago. The press got ahold of that and, as usual, blew it all out of proportion. Sigh...The mayor at one point was quoted as saying something to the effect of wondering how that happened. (Once I was in Venice, I learned that most deliveries and garbage pickup happens in the early morning--before the canals and streets fill with tourists. And indeed while it is still dark, the canals are full of delivery barges. Probably the noise of the carts was bothering both residents and tourists, so the city decided to do something about it.)
....Never ask me for a simple answer to a question...I tend to get wordy...
