You’ll love it. I did and I would suggest flag CS or work as the CO’s (commanding officer) cook on the ship. That was my main job and I loved it. You’re able to focus more on your skills and are able to cook more what you like.
really good video. no extra nonsense. is it wicked hot in that jumpsuit? no t-shirt allowed? going to MEPs soon and while this ain't my first pick, you make it look really fun!
The coveralls gets hot in the kitchen and unfortunately you can’t half mast. You have to keep it on the way I had it on in the video. On my ship we weren’t allowed to. Good luck in your journey! 🫶🏾
I was so excited to ship out last month as culinary specialist but meps found out I had thc in my system I just moved to Oakland CA dint thought it was going to be a deal and everything went downhill I should re apply in 3 months lol l m just 18 not a lost case yet but I guess I would learn my lesson this time ! I m so happy for u enjoy your experience
I was 18 when I joined and 4 years later almost done with my first contract. If you have any more questions let me know. I pray that everything works out for you.
There’s a variety of choice such as going to culinary school, opening your own business like a food truck or a restaurant. Anything in the culinary arts of you choose. For myself I started school the same day I got out. I’m in school for business and my dreams for the future is to open a restaurant then a couple more.
We do get time off. Most ships including mine has a 5-3 schedule. I was on The USS Iwo Jima LHD7. Two watch teams in the galley. Ex: starboard watch would work Monday and Tuesday, have Wednesday off and work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Port watch would have Monday and Tuesday off since starboard watch is working then Port would work Wednesday and then have Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each watch has every other weekend off basically. Hope this helps
I would recommend it if you are interested in learning more about the culinary arts. You can also learn about paperwork and how to run a kitchen. Be aware of the long hours and the early mornings. Most days start at 4:30 AM. Benefits are it’s easy to network since you cook for everyone on the ship. You also can get certifications that you can use in the civilian world if you stay in the culinary world.
@@eyeswideopen4888 For me it was worth it. I did my whole contract which felt like a great accomplishment. The pay differs but being married the pay was About $4000 a month.
It all depends on the ship and the CS’s I love to cook and went above and beyond for my fellow sailors. Anything I could do to make the food a little better I would such as adding an egg, grilled onions, bacon and toasting their bun for their cheeseburger. This among other stuff.
You made me more excited about joining the Navy. I will be a CS also my basic training is June 🥹👏🏾
That’s so exciting!! I wish you the best!!
Everything looks fantastic 😋

Yes
Hello I would like to be a culinary specialist in the army but am not a US Citizen. What are the procedures in place to applying
The first step is to talk to your closest naval recruiting office. They will let you know what tou need.
What does a CS do after the Navy?

only valid if you're on a ship with 3 other people - in the real navy the food is total dogshit

I was stationed on the USS Iwo Jima LHD7. 2,000 sailors and marines.
