    Its mind boggling just how massive this collection is, and the fact its all the culmination of one man's lifelong passion. The Landing High Japan game is one I've never heard of before till now. One really cool gem I noticed in the background was Sonic Championship, Sega's classic sonic the hedgehog fighting game.

      My rating: A-
      Its excellent in every way EXCEPT for the lack of representation from 90s fighters and beat em ups.
      The only change I would make would be to exchange ONE row of pinball to accomodate more video arcades(including the adorementioned shortcomings)

    • @RetroRalph
      @RetroRalph  Рік тому

      They have things very well spaced so they could probably accomidate another row. I know they also plan to swap things in and out based on customer feedback. Pretty cool with the backup collection, so if any game has a long downtime, it can get replaced. But as far as Pinball, the Ann Arbor Vintage Flipper World Pinball Museum has a little over 500 pinball on display. The only downside is that they are open 1-2 times a year, so not something as readily accessible as this.

      The QR Codes are huge for our success. With over 600 games, we rely heavily on the public to scan the codes and report the issues as they are found. These get reported to a Google Sheet to which all of our techs have access. Our techs are there Monday-Friday 7-3 when the public is not there to tackle as many issues as possible. We have a great team and they are managing very well. We have a floor manager that addresses all minor issues immediately when we are open such as stuck balls, broken rubbers, etc. Without the QR Code system we would have a very difficult time keeping up. The public has been awesome. As G.I. Joe says "Knowing is half the battle." The other half is hiring very talented and passionate techs.

      That would be the reason why, then, if it was mostly a conversion kit. There are games that were only conversion kits, and maybe this was one of them. Some collectors focus only on original games to the exclusion of conversions.

    • @angelorusso3219
      @angelorusso3219 11 місяців тому

      @@RetroDawn Could be, but Taito used a lot of generic cabinets with no title art other than the Taito logo. A game like Return of the Jedi was a conversion for Star Wars, but Star Wars was still making money and many operators didn't buy the conversion kit. I think conversions need to be preserved and collected as well because they did exist, are part of many player's history, and should be shown and played by those who never got to see a route game conversion in their area.

    Jilly's Arcade on the OC, NJ boardwalk had a Landing High Japan like 10-15 years ago. I know because I spent a week playing it as I had never seen anything like it :) Was phenomenal, so realistic with the yoke, engine thruster and even the peddles for turning. I never successfully landed once. Came close a number of times but if I got on the runway I was always overrunning it. That's how realistic/hard it is.

      @@rizzlerazzleuno4733 They have a pinball location down the street. The galloping ghost has multiple businesses in that area including a gym. I feel like the galloping ghost arcade just has too much stuff in close proximity as some of the aisles feel like they're a firehazard. It's not well organized so you spend alot of time wandering trying figure out where something you saw was that you wanted to play. Some of their staff are total D bags as I had one of them give me some major lip , to point I strongly considered if I wanted start a fist fight or not after that. It soured my mood for the entire night as I don't like being talked to like I'm a dog who wizzed on the floor and I was the one deescalating the situation as the customer. I didn't go back there for a long time after that.

      There are electronic pinball machines that can have hundreds of game and mame arcades that can have almost every arcade game ever made on it along with most console games... those two things would cover way more and you'd still get bored.

    That’s pretty dope. There’s also Next Level Pinball Shop and Museum right outside of Portland, Oregon that has won worlds favorite pinball location the past two years. That place is worth visiting Oregon alone.

    The arcades places in NYC were my second home. I got so good at them that I drew a crowd whenever I played. Made me feel like a celebrity. This place makes me feel like moving to Ohio just so I can be in there everyday like I used to in the 80s. Awesome collection. Surprised he has techs to keep these machines running. That was always the main problem back then.

    I'd literally be in heaven in that place. Being 50, I was thinking that maybe I was getting too old for video games, but then I saw this elderly lady named Shirley something who is 80 and has her own UA-cam channel where she plays Skyrim and now this old man. Guess I will be dying with a game controller in my hands.
