You forgot the method of using Japanese Pod 101 to learn new words! :) When Risa speaks and explains in Japanese, it really helps my listening skills so thank you Risa and Japanese pod 101!
Thank you Risa , Now I'm changing from absolute beginner to beginner and only because of these lessons and because I'm a school girl, I want to learn more and more languages
I find watching the Japanese version of pokemon pretty fun as its really easy to understand. Also I think 50% of the time in Japanese, as my parents are both trilingual and they both said that they switching their thinking when they switch languages. I use all these methods and find have found memorising music lyrics and using the words in sentences make me remember the most!
Risa, I've recently started learning Japanese and I must say that all your videos have been extremely helpful to help me learn Japanese. I subscribed after watching like 3 of your video. :)
Something that helps me is, writing story scripts in Japanese either from scratch or I'm translating a script I wrote in English. You learn new words and if they're common words you're using, you'll probably learn it ^^ Or just spending a few hours translating anything in general helps me :D I love translating so much, I spend days on it haha!
UA-cam videos and commenting using the language your learning is very effective. That's how I learned English. If I don't comment, I usually watch Japanese streamers and read the live chat and try to understand what they're saying. Games are also a good way to memorize things as well.
Saying things out loud certainly helps! I work with Chinese people, and I will often talk under my breath to repeat things they say, or I will say words I already know to help me feel more confident in pronouncing them. Too bad I don't work at a sushi restaurant, it would be so easy to learn Japanese! (Cantonese is hard!)
Fantastic! I am living in Japan since about a few months past you posting this video. This is the best learning idea I have had so far, and you are the best presenter I have seen! Thanks!!!!!1
I'm currently obsessed with the song "Megitsune" by BabyMetal. Their music is great and I love Idol's voice!! I look up Emglish translations to their songs so I at least know what they're singing about, but I practice memorizing and singing along to the original songs which are in Japanese. It has proven to be a big help. I also watch a lot of Anime which helps a lot especially hearing the Japanese words and connecting them to the English subtitles. I've learned quite a few words watching my favorite Japanese animes
I was Looking for a Japanese chennel to learn Japanese and this chennel was the First I found in YT. They explain すごい I learn by watching this Vids and live stream a Lot. As absolute Beginner is this the best channel.
Hajimemashite, Risa-san (sensei), wanted to let you know I'm currently learning Japanese as my 3rd language and your videos help me a lot to stay motivated and practice between my institute lessons. Arigatou Gozaimasu!
I love your teaching style! You speak very fast, and I am kinda slow at times picking things up but, it is easier to follow because of your style. Mabey cuz I don't have to try to think. I just let it wash over me. Time will tell. Not asking you to change.
I listen to Japanese music by using Spotify, but I have no idea how to translate it to English, so it would be hard for me to understand it quickly! But after watching this video, I learned some new words and it helps me a lot!
that was a great video :D I already applied 6 of these on new languages... mostly German... I will do it with Japanese once I start my course on March :D my most favorite are listen to music and speaking to my family members and friends ... both would get angry if they didn't understand me well ... lol .. especially if I was complaining, cursing or upset about something 😂😂
The way you say "oopss!" in daily conversation even if when you speak Japanese, similar to the way I say "shimata!" "Taku!", and some Japanese swear words even if when I speak Indonesian.About my favorite Japanese songs? Mostly tokusatsu theme songs, especially that are sung by Psychic Lover and Shinichi Ishihara.
One way I somehow remembered some words is getting them wrong. I was taking an exam and my Japanese teacher asked for the Japanese translations for certain nouns. I came across one that I completely forgot and had no clue. After the exam, I asked her what the answer was and once she told me, I never forgot it again.
1. use mobile apps to learn on the go. I use anki cards 2. watch anime and Japanese movies with subtitles. You'll learn something about culture as well as a few new words 3. try to learn just a little bit every day, or else you'll just forget what you've learned
I enjoy this site very much. I find some differences with translations such as "Nichijo seikatsu no naka de itsumo tsukau yo ni suru" has no Japanese word for language like "gengo" or "nihongo" so it would have to be understood from context. Also Risa makes cute comments and I don't always understand them it would be nice to see them in Japanese.
I started follow up Bandai channel in youtube to practice hearing skills. I still do not understand much but the words and expressions I catch make me happy 😀
I've used almost all of these methods, but my favorite involves imitating shows and music in Japanese. I also try to practice calligraphy to help me memorize words and phrases. Oh, and I'd love to hear you sing Aurora by Eir Aoi. That's stuck in my head right now.
これは非常にいいススメです!日本語を勉強するかただけじゃなくて、言語なんでも覚えようとしている皆さんの役に立てると思います。聞き取りとか読書とかの多い方法が一番です!後、文法を勉強すると勉強だけど、映画を見たりしたらころりと喋れるようになると思います。皆さん、この動画の通りして、言語を習うためじゃなくて言語を使う方が習いやすいです。 This is very good advice! I think this can be useful for, not just for people studying Japanese, but any other language as well. Methods that have a lot of reading and listening are the best way to learn! Also, studying grammar is just studying but watching a movie or something will let you effortlessly become conversational in the new language. If everyone does what this video suggests and uses their new language, not for the purpose of learning it, it will be so much easier for them.
I really like "radwimps - 前前前世" First it was very difficult to sing along but now I kinda got used to it and it works. I slowly start to understand what they are singing about.
Very helpful video. I'll have to start practicing. I have 2 favorite songs in Japanese. Sunao ni Naretara and Kono Yoru Wo To Meteyo. Both by Juju. My favorite drama series that I like to watch over and over is Guilty: Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna. Arigatou.
Bonjour Risa ! I like your videos very much :) They help me to getting used to Japanese language. Learn tips about how to survive in Japan ;) Actually, I'm taking off for the first time from France to Japan in 12 days, and I just can't wait ! Keep doing video for beginners like me. You should sing French romantic songs more often, it's fits perfectly with your personality :p "C'est un beau roman, c'est une belle histoire, c'est une romance d'aujourd'hui" :D Merci et à bientôt !
enka and kayokyoku songs really help me to learn new words and grammar structures in Japanese. same I did when I was studying English by listening old and meaningful songs.
My favorite japanese song is 川の流れのように is my favorite since I was a little kid because there is a mexican version in mariachi called ''Nube de mar'' , of course in spanish. Now that I'm an adult studying japanese, I like it even more listening in its original japanese version.
and listening to Japanese music helps me understand it a little... i know one song from fairy tail, all the english words in the Japanese song because i heard the english version before i heard the other version and i cant get the tune out of my head to this day...... i've also been known to understand music more than others, but your work helps to Risa. THANKYOU!!!!!!!
I'm currently learning japanese in college, but as a teenager I would draw anime and manga, like my dad, we both took it up as a fun pastime. Through that I watched anime and I found the vocaloids and Hatsune Miku and her songs, which got me to sing in japanese even if I didn't have any clue what the songs meant, the ones I first discovered were very bright and cheerful and peppy and I loved to sing them and eventually that's how I learnt to pronounce things in Japanese. Music does help a lot, especially since music eliminates the accents that people speak in, so you just hear the pure sound you need to make that everyone can understand you, like how British singers don't sound British when they sing, most of them sound kind of American (since the American accent is very lax for the most part and in only some parts of the United States is there a defined accent like New York, Texas, or California ). Sorry all this was my way of saying singing does help to learn a new language :) since music is addictive and easier to remember, a sound mnemonic. Thanks for the video. I'll keep this in mind as a learn Japanese. Arigatoo gozaimasu. >u
Muchas gracias Risa-san muy útiles los consejos. (Aunque debes admitir que el leer los periódicos es difícil pues normalmente se usan muchos kanjis). Thanks so much Risa-san!. That was good tips but sometimes it's difficult to practice with newspapers because there are many kanji. (A little difficult for those [including me] who still don't remember all of them). Good video. Keep the hard work.
Ranjeet kumar Bhagat Learning Japanese is difficult at beginning, but it becomes easier when you learned the basics,Japanese pronounciation is probably the simplest in the world ,it's not as difficult as you think ,I have learned japanese for a liitle more than half a year in my free time, now I can handle most conversations with native speakers online.

wow i just realized how much risa's english has improved since 2016. She doesn't have an accent and speaks much more clearly now. I wonder how many of the japanese learners from that time are good now in japanese. tamil version of "issekenicho oboeto ekadasai" is "orre kallu la rendu manga" (1 stone 2 mangoes)

I speak in school in Japanese sometimes. If I don't know what to say I will go "ano" or "eto" I say hello and simple greetings in Japanese and my friends sort of get it... Risa got great singing voice.
You're a good teacher Risa-San. I love your videos. Thank you for your positive energy. Learning Japanese with you great pleasure😃
I actually use all of these methods when learning Japanese. It also helps when you have friends who are native speakers.
Thank you Risa , Now I'm changing from absolute beginner to beginner and only because of these lessons and because I'm a school girl, I want to learn more and more languages

Then I remember they have Kanji and I feel sad.

I had Japanese lessons in college last year but they got cancelled because not enough people went, but while they were still on, my teacher used to play us songs which I actually found really helpful (unlike vocaloid xD), although the only one I can remember is "konnichiwa akachan" (I don't have a Japanese keyboard on my laptop), I still get that stuck in my head from time to time haha
I love japan and idk why i just love it..
"Killing two birds with one stone."

Ok i’ll carry enough ammo in my pocket so that if i see 2 birds i’ll kill them with one stone or at least try to kill them with one stone
