After watching UCLA - TWU, I am changing my vote from LBSU to UCLA to win it all. David is looking strong. Nikolov will follow his brother’s footsteps: win POTY as a freshman but then lose in the finals because he didn’t have enough help.
UCLA certainly asserted their dominance over TWU. I think they are a frightening matchup for anyone in April. I do think we'll see some special things from this LBSU team this year we haven't seen before though. Not sure if it'll be enough but they will be poised to compete.
Loosing Speraw's scouting will be massive in regards to being able to stop a young setter(who could probly be schemed apart), without that UCLA is going to loose that advantage and just straight up outplay LBSU.
I think Speraw's effect will be felt this season. Not sure how you gameplan for the creativity that Nikolov has, but I am sure Hawks will dial something up with these vets to get them ready to go when the time comes.
Speraw aside, my biggest concern about UCLA this year is their receiving (or passing). Robinson and Rama did not strike me as strong passers, at least not on the level of Champlain and Knight. For them to three-peat, they need at least one strong passing OH and one balanced libero.
What I think Rama and Robinson lack in serve receive, I think they are well above average in out of system scramble type plays off the net where they can use their size and physicality to their strength. Down the stretch it becomes a serve and serve receive game so I don’t think they will be able to dodge that inconsistency forever, but I think they will do a fine job unless a team really goes back there and tries to serve rockets at them.
I am a Bruin myself, so I hope what you said turns out to be the case. Though I still want to caution this: inconsistent serve receives will give your opponents an easier job to block you. One key factor in Mchenry contributing so much to Bruin offense is due to strong serve receives. Without that, contributions of the middle will be diminished. That means the outside will have to take on more and tougher offenses, which is test to their endurance. Though I hope that either Robinson or Rama turns out to be a decent passer as well or someone like Luca Curci turns out to be a mini Champlin 😅.
I would like to point out UCLA has a 4- Peate on record under the legendary Al Scates. I'm not joking, just look up "NCAA mens volleyball championship winners throughout history".
UCLA's gonna 3-peat and win their 22nd national championship in men's volleyball. Nikolov's arrival will make them hungrier than ever to defend the crown. LBSU's coach will also help UCLA win by making questionnable decisions again.
I feel like we’re forgetting that UC Irvine returns some key players and they pushed UCLA in the semi-finals last year. I feel like they’re gonna give UCLA a run for their three-peat
UCI is a fantastic team. Any team with Henno on it is one to pay attention to. I just think UCLA is better overall. I think they'll give em a good fight but I think UCLA is a little too complete for UCI.
Can Coop/Ido lead the offense for this team and be consistent? Who will bring that leadership quality and maturity that Champlin/Mchenry/Knight had? etc
I think Rowan's going to be the one to lead the offense, as he's done over the past two seasons with great leadership. I think UCLA is too balanced to need for anyone to be a hero. David, Robinson, Rama, Thorne, Diallo, Kelly, etc. They have a lot of weapons to utilize.
@@BossPunkGaming I promise you Nolan Flexon’s serve receive and defense has increased ten fold, you don’t play for the national team without your all around game going up drastically. Uc Irvine is gonna go crazy this year I promise.
@@mitchsterkenburg look at where we were before Hakas went down we had just beaten Irvine near the last point when he went down. I think we were in first place at that point. then without our go-to pin, best passing pin, best blocking pin an best serving pin we went downhill.
Yes! Great video. LBSU: 45%. UCLA: 40%. Everybody else: 15%. If they had kept Speraw or McHenry, they would 3-peat. Their 2nd middle (Wong-Diallo or McQuiggan) will be a bit inexperienced.
I think they're a little young, compared to some of the other power schools. Losing Pasteur and Wright will definitely hurt and be felt this year. But I think they are still in control of their conference most likely.

I'm calling it hear, LB wins the chip (no simeon glaze I swear)
they were already close
Good call
i would agree (simeon glaze)
lost towrie an godbold. towrie was dominant

so their first 3-peat since 1983. Good to know.
They have a 3 peat and a 4 peat. Rocco Luyties set them to 4 straight.

dont forget abt uc irvine
Hilir Henno is going to keep them in the mix for sure.

hawaii will win this year...💥💫
Rainbow Warrior resurgence?
