Interesting P&A, funningly enough was just looking at accommodation around the Subic area when up popped your video. Firstly no one can blame the Chinese or Koreans for investing in technically their own back yard or anyone looking to live in a cleaner alternative to polluted Manila or Angeles. Hotels are clearly taking advantage of the short fall in accommodation till I expect more condos etc get built in time. The area is on the up, airport opening soon etc thus prices will accordingly increase, this is after all not some back water provence like Bohol, example.
That's still cheap 2000 pesos a day staying in a hotel that's equivalent of 40 dollars a day , plus your in subic, subic is one of the most safe place to stay in the Philippines, If you want cheap place stay outside subic, but you have to deal with the traffic, pollution, and congestion.
This video was shocking but really informative, my family stayed at a place in the back of the base close to the old abandoned High School can't remember the name of it now but it is also condo's that rent out as nightly hotel really nice pool but the property was so dated and the room's dirty.
Look on the bay area Roxas blvd for secondary market of condos. Even a bit further inland. Taft area has an abundant supply of well maintained and budget friendly and secured condos due to students in the area from my experience. There's atleast 6 condo high rise that in construction right now along Taft in Malate area... if you get a high floor, you get a good view of Manila bay. A Chinese national bought the unit for 2mil where I was tenant, he liked the sunset view of Manila bay on the 39th floor so the owner decided not to renew my contract there. Been renting various condos for 6 years in this area I finally reserved at R square residence pre selling from 2015, turnover 2020. It's on corner taft and P Ocampo intersection has a 3 storey mall beneath and uses an elavator pass to access your floor. It's got a sky deck at the 52nd floor. Should see Manila bay to the west, Manila skyline to the north , airport to the south, and Makati skyline to the east. It's loaded with full amenities as well while still accessible to the casinos, Makati Cbd and major retail establishments (MOA) and next to LRT and buses, jeep , FX are in front of the property passing by.
Looks like Mango Valley daily hotel rates are for the cheapest room 2500 peso's per day that's $46 US, not cheap that's for sure, this is according to there website. From my experience, Philippines tends to be more pricey for average hotels when compared to other SE Asian nations?
Unless the policy on SBMA have changed since when I lived in Subic from 2012-2014 before moving to Davao City. There are only 50-year leases. No foreigner can own. I have people tell me on here, oh I own. If that is the case, please tell me when does your mortgage payments end? And when does the foreigner "owner" receive the title to their home? And are they allowed to pass their "home" to future generations of family? I wanted to buy a home back in 2014, but when I was told about the 50-year leases only, of course not, I will not "buy" what is essentially only "renting."
this is why big company s will not do business in the Philippines , the bottom line ,, is GREED . And THE BEST THINGS about the base, is the mall .... in four more years the CHINESE AND Koreans WILL OWN, most OF Subic & A /C , etc etc. and the Chinese base is coming SOON in Subic ...
And own Manila, Cebu, Spratly/ Coron and everything else. U.S. and Australia was ready to close the deal on the purchase of Subic that Duterte wanted China to get. But interesting enough the Coronvirus stopped the sale. Good timing China on releasing your virus.
Hey my friend I am planning to make my 3rd trip to Phil's early part of 2019, never been to Subic Bay, plan to visit for a week, plus I plan to revisit Cebu, and Negro's Occidental on this trip. Any suggestions for my Subic Bay trip, will you be in town in Jan or Feb next year?

The best way to deal with these money grabbing vampire businesses is to boycott them till they go broke. If they want their business to run, run it cheap.
Wondering why you would just look at hotels i thought you knew the area kinda lacking on your park since you have been pushing property ideas there doh
Colin Woods Most hotels used to double as condotels and you could rent per month from around 15-20K. Also there are not really any pure condo buildings in town apart from 1 or 2. I think you miss the point which is, your better off renting a villa.
The Chinese economy has been experiencing tremendous growth and their economy is rapidly changing from a manufacturing based model to a consumer based model. They are shopping around the globe with that new money. Things won't be the same anymore. Get used to it.
Many of the buildings are old Navy and Marine Corps Barracks converted to hotel space.
One of the very first videos I enjoyed of my decision to move to Subic. Thanx Mate !
Glad to hear it!
Excellent video Peter and very informative.
Thank for the nice view of Subic Bay Freeport Zone, it is a good video and info
Subic International Hotel is used to be the US NAVY barracks during the time when US Naval Base still occupying the area of SBFZ.
Just one more reason to despise the Chinese onslaught.
Awesome deal I would gladly sign up on the list. I waste more money than that on junk each month.

2,000 per day is a lot when paying by the month.
Having watched this, I wouldn't want to live here, whatever the price.

Thanks for this! How do these rates compare with Manila?
The hotels on the base are charging high rates. I wonder why?! You can stay at a 4 star hotel in Manila for those rates.
I did rent a studio apt. up at Cubi Point for 13k a month. That was in 2013-2014.
Subic has 2 million visitors in summer. Thanks for showing this but hard to find vacancies.

How are the Chinese allowed to buy up all hotels? I thought all businesses in the PI had to have 51% local ownership?
Subic Bay allows for 100% foreign ownership.
