My stepdaughter has severe autism and loves funk music, so we listen to Head Hunters probably once every two weeks. Great cover, was interesting comparing your tone to Maupin's.
I'm so glad that I found your music. Thanks! Another great sax player Kenny Shanker mentioned that he took lessons from the same teacher in CA as you did.
Abhinav Cheedella playing that in jazz band right now. It actually sounds like a lick that bird used in Jeannine but I think that it’s a very common lick and I could be remembering it from multiple places
Chad you're such an inspiration man, seriously. Every song I listen to you play inspires me to practice every single day and improve in the jazz language. Thank you so much for uploading these videos. I'll be sure to purchase something from your store when I can to support you and your channel. Very valuable stuff for this generation and the ones to come.
Then I'm 120 years old and finally learned the lick after practicing every single day for hours straight... "Now all I have to do is get this lick into all 12 keys."
That put a very big smile on my face, yes, indeed. A different and creative version of WM, yes indeed ! I love the original version of it but I always like to do something different with it and I'm glad to see I'm not alone on that .... Very nice, Chad !
tienen 500 compases para improvisar porque no respetar los 12 copases de la melodia? nunca entendi eso...ojo independientemente de que es brother es increíble como toca.
Francisco Perez igual, escucha la versión de Body and Soul by Coleman Hawkins. El tampoco toca la melodia así cómo está en el papel. Charlie Parker cuando tocó Just Friends with Strings tampoc.
the kind of music u like after listening in for less than the 1st 5 secs.. then ur face remains stank till the end of it...and u keep wanting more.. well done guys...well done
I love this headhunters version - the form is different to the RB/Blue Note version - its like theres an extra chord before it resolves. It would be great to see a chart

The pseudo-prepared piano vibe mixed with the street march like groove is really cool.
Sax Spy glad you dig it :)
3:45 - 5:10 dear lord what an incredible solo!
Jason Bedford thank you, Jason!
Very cool to hear the headhunters version done acoustically. Awesome recording, I want to buy an album of this session!
Ditto! So,when can we expect to see a full session on disc?
5:54 that is why Iove jazz, you can make any note function if you repeat it enough :)

She has wonderful taste!
I'm sure your daughter has that groove mastered 😁
@@joerumler48 She...might have a better sense of rhythm than me lol.
Nicely done, band! Chad, I like how some of your choices were momentarily disorienting -- really fun to listen to. And your tone is fantastic.
Brilliant!
Thank you!
What a mad -lad- Chad
chads amazing!!!
Great version of this older classic played so well by Chad, good little group.
Bro! You killed that. Amazing sound and wonder choices. I absolutely love your spacing.
I really liked this version! Chad is smokin’ on that tenor.
Lovin the blues take, a joy to hear genuinely creative expressive take on composition from a creative master
Yeah Chad, sounding killer as usual! The master of all 12 keys
There is a great humility through your way to play guys and I appreciated that. sound great too, liked
watermelon man from Herbie Hancock was good, same goes for this!
Yesss cory fonville! my favorite drummer around
Now can we get a recording with Chad and Troy Roberts and call it “Tenor Madness: A New Millennium”.....Please!!
Now you're talkin
One of my favourites tunes and this is a fantastic rendition. Appreciate all the talented musicians but am loving that tenor as a sax player myself!
Nice take on a classic...
Just ... Wow!
Killing as always!
I'm so glad that I found your music. Thanks! Another great sax player Kenny Shanker mentioned that he took lessons from the same teacher in CA as you did.
this is a masterclass on restraint, love it
4:15 that transition out of double time hits hard
Wasn’t double time more like a triplet feel
Kenny R ya you’re right
not doubletime
Cal Clove ya someone already clarified that. He plays double time for a bit then goes into a triplet feel
Glad I found your channel, you guys killing it ! I dig you tone , great job
If John Coltrane and Herbie played together
it would sound like this
As a fellow saxophonist
Chad you're killing it on the changes
Nice job guys!!!
A new fav
Really cool. Probably one of my favorites of you with Quartet. Haven't heard Watermelon Man in a long time! Enjoyed the rendition!
Thanks!
Hi Chad!!! This groove is really cool! Hugs from Brazil!!!
Social distancing, please!
Beautiful playing.
Good to listen!
That's a fine performance - love the snare drum sound!
What is that quote at 3:55 I can’t remember
It reminds me of Groovin high
Abhinav Cheedella playing that in jazz band right now. It actually sounds like a lick that bird used in Jeannine but I think that it’s a very common lick and I could be remembering it from multiple places
Yeah seems pretty common, but I recognized it from the end of Parker’s solo on billies bounce

Me: So what you guys think of Chad LB?
Them, with collective stank faces: “SHEWWWWW!”
Haha thank you! :)
Wow! The changes in levels of intensity, funk vs. modern, etc., out of site!
Love your playing fellow sax player!
Very good!!!
I live for the quintuplets into semiquavers, absolutely insane!
The excellence of lighting should be mentioned as well..!
Hot DAMN!!!!! this is smoking
Great stuff, Chad!
4:42 yep I'm gonna learn this lick tomorrow morning
Then I'm 120 years old and finally learned the lick after practicing every single day for hours straight... "Now all I have to do is get this lick into all 12 keys."

Chad are u ever gonna come to Memphis or Nashville and if you do can you give a masterclass at the Memphis jazz workshop please?!!?
Typo at the beginning
the kind of music u like after listening in for less than the 1st 5 secs..
then ur face remains stank till the end of it...and u keep wanting more..
well done guys...well done
who’s herbie hancok
he signe d the declration
You misspelled Herbie Hancock in the intro
Bruh
yeah!
I thought Steven's solo was incredibly tasty.
FYI, Hancock is spelled wrong in the intro
1:19 lmao
I love this headhunters version - the form is different to the RB/Blue Note version - its like theres an extra chord before it resolves. It would be great to see a chart
Misspelled Hancock in the beginning hahahaha
otherwise this shits killin
Looking for Doritos in the piano.Oldskol
I wish Herby Hancock commented here.
I thought this was The Handsome Bearded Guys Quartet
Versione molto raffinata.
That solo was unaldurated sex, sheesh
You should get a bari sax m. This was a good song but definitely sounds best on bari
Sounds great! Piano player needs to work on his beard skills though ;-)
😂😄👏
😂😃👌🎷
