      @@janetlieb2507 Yes, it was! Especially the heart-rending scene where you saw the children screaming and covered in blood, and that's when the heavy iron scenery came crashing down, shaking you up even more! I saw a lady being taken outside. I think it was too much for her, unless by coincidence she was just feeling unwell.

      If it was my grandmother she fell & hit her head on the stairs trying to escape from other theatergoer's odious perfume.

    Great seeing Diana Rigg being so honored. What a lovely, talented actress! How I miss her as Emma Peel in THE AVENGERS!

      That role was but a brief swoop to the lower altitude of our television consciences before ascending once again to the much higher altitudes of theatrical accomplishments.

      softclay4thought She's always attributed The Avengers to her ability to "put bums in seats", is I think her phrase. She left RSC to audition for television, resumed working there nights while filming during the day, left the show to become a movie star & sole Mrs. James Bond. Nowadays she's back in our lower altitude juggling multiple television projects, 2 with her daughter!

    How is it possible that nothing appears to exist of Diana Rigg's "Medea"? Even 10 minutes of her performance might be enough to convey what she did in that role. Apparently we don't even have a clip anywhere of what has been described as a deafening finale as the huge doors toppled.

    I would love to have seen that play performed live. I've read it and can't imagine how it was performed two thousand three hundred years ago. And Ms. Rigg also had a speech prepared instead of mumbling inanities as they usually do. That's professional

    Not many can go from Royal Shakespeare Company to TV secret agent to wife of the most famous movie franchise secret agent ever and on to the great classical role of Medea. In between times I saw her singing in Sondheim's Follies on the West End Stage. Was there any genre she didn't excel at?

      Saw her in the Follies too! Even met her briefly at the stage door. Rachael was just a lovely kid then.

    Of all the actors/ actresses in my lifetime, I would have Loved meeting her the most. By twist of fate I encountered quite a few major REAL celebrities including Gregory Peck, Agnes Moorehead and Lucille Ball, but Diana was my fondest wish. Ah well. Maybe in the next go-round...❤️

    Rest in peace, Dame Diana Rigg (1938-2020). You were so glamorous, and you were a wonderful host on Mystery!. (Gene Shalit and Vincent Price were wonderful hosts, too.)

    Although Honor Blackman (as Cathy Gale) lay the foundation by being the first female protagonist in THE AVENGERS, and Linda Thorson (as Tara King) helped to wrap up the series as the third one, the show will always be remembered because of Diana Rigg (as Emma Peel) who was teamed with the show’s one constant - Patrick Macnee (as John Steed)…

    This clip shows why Joan Rivers forevermore referred to Dame Diana as "That bitch Diana Rigg!"

    • @trevl8955
      @trevl8955 7 років тому +2

      She never worded it quite like that, but either way, Joan Rivers was a sore loser. If I recall correctly, the critics criticized the play at the time, and were pretty lukewarm about Rivers performance. Joan Rivers is not an actor, and certainly no stage performer. Since this was her one and only foray on the acting stage, I suspect she was only nominated in the first place to round out the list of potential winners. She would never have won regardless of who she was up against.

    • @unowen-nh9ov
      @unowen-nh9ov 7 років тому +1

      Trev L She worded it exactly like that and is also quoted as calling Dame Diana "that slut-whore-tramp". Joan has over 40 credits as actress on imdb, along with many other credits, does not include her stage work, early on she co-starred with young Streisand. Rivers was a survivor, literally, with a long rich career - aside from Mae West, how many women have starred in plays they have written on Broadway? All of this is public record, look it up, if you want to deny something back it up. In the Trump era, typing alone is insufficient.

    • @trevl8955
      @trevl8955 7 років тому +2

      The fact that you couldn't even make a point without mentioning Trump makes your whole point invalid.

    • @unowen-nh9ov
      @unowen-nh9ov 7 років тому +2

      Trev L As your lack of attribution does yours. Joan actually credited Trump with reviving her career after her win on The Apprentice, would love to hear her opinion of the election, another reason I miss her.

    • @brockmeeks1695
      @brockmeeks1695 4 роки тому

      Trev L I was very young here I wouldn’t know what she said directly after. If she called her a bitch I doubt there was too much venom. Joan was disappointed but she always admired great acting. She desperately wanted to be taken seriously as an actress and be offered good and serious roles. It just wasn’t in the cards since I think Joan was a mediocre actress but a fantastic standup. She did act on Broadway three times. The first was Fun City that bombed and Joan moved her family to LA. Broadway Bound as a replacement after her husband died and Sally Maar. I don’t doubt she was put in the nominees since she was famous. It meant a lot to Joan to be nominated and it’s good Diana Rigg won. She wouldn’t have to lose to Anna. D Smith or Nancy Marchand.
