      Exactly. It's either done for "tradition", "to look like the father" (that's messed up) or because the mother thinks her son's future girlfriend will find it better looking and feeling, which the latter is proven via studies to be the opposite (not to mention that's just as messed up). Boys have as much a right to body autonomy as girls, and I'll never understand how it's legal on boys as infants but not on girls. Both cause irreparable damage, both physically and mentally.

    This video identified a lot of American-centric biases around how things should look, hygiene practices etc. There are more uncircumcised men in the world, and the perception from other cultures would be vastly different because it’s their normal. Also, the history of it being a way of enforcing sexual morality etc in the US, taking away someone’s autonomy of their own body when they’re a child is also pretty dark

    • @gymrat3203
      @gymrat3203 2 роки тому +46

      The hygiene issue was started by doctors who continue to push this false narrative. Circumcision was started by doctors to prevent boys/men from masturbating because they believed that masturbation caused an unhygienic mind. Those very doctors also believed that putting carbolic acid on the clitorus would accomplish the same thing for girls/women. When the clean mind argument was debunked they switched the narrative to a cleaner penis. It is true that the penis will "seem" cleaner for long periods of time between showers/baths then an intact man. But we live in modern society with running hot water, soap etc. and the vast majority practice good hygiene already, so the myth lives on (thanks to doctors and a corrupt money driven healthcare system) in the USA. When one reason/myth is disproven then doctors run to another reason. Neonatal circumcision in the USA is a multi-billion dollar industry. Many procedures, medications and test are not really helpful and beneficial to people because our Healthcare considers people to be nothing more then cash cows.

      @BootsandUtes Рік тому +1

      @@nightshocker6908 Yeah, in addition, reputable studies have debunked the myth that an uncircumcised penis is less clean than a circumcised one. The sad thing is that elective circumcision in America burgeoned from the outdated idea that it would prevent masturbation. We all know it doesn't. But, the lies do not stop there. The study that claimed that circumcised males are less likely to spread STI was highly flawed as it triangulated data of STI rates with people who might be circumcised in a given population (so basically they don't know if the person was circumcised or not in most cases). Even more dubious is that the study was conducted by a member of the Circumcision Academy of Australia, a pro-circumcision organization. But, the damage has been done. Many news media picked up the story and people believed it to be true. It's unfortunate that this is what parents in America have to contend with: a lot of misinformation and pro-circumcision propaganda.

    4:46 My very first sexual partner was circumcised at 8 years old in a hut in Southeast Asia. It was performed asymmetrically and created tightness on one side. It also had scarring that was sore for years. He remembers how painful it was. This dude is a stoic marine who got shot in Afghanistan and can keep his pain inside like a pro but yo, he REMEMBERS. The country he's from has one of the highest circumcision rates in the world.
    I had a few penile partners after him and usually noticed the sugical scar on the cut ones. Some of them didn't even realize it was a scar which seemed profoundly sad to me. I ended up married to a woman of first guy's ethnicity. She initially wanted to circumcise our son for cultural reasons but I said no. It's surgery, on a brand new baby, for dubious reasons. Come on. The cleaning is just like the person in this video said. It takes an extra three seconds in the shower. The prevalence of women [who are conditioned to "preferring" circumcised penises] is diminishing; the MIC rate has declined to 54% (thanks to respectful mothers-to-be, and some insistent fathers, actually doing research on the topic)... Since 1996, the American Academy of Pediatrics' FULL reports, inclusive of its 2012 full report, reaffirmed in 2018, has been suggesting/recommending that MALE INFANTS AND CHILDREN BE LEFT INTACT so that THEY (the male person possessing the subject penis) can make the decision when/after THEY reach adulthood (age 18) and THEY can sign the surgery consent form themselves.
      If there were truly any "health benefits" and the "risks of disease transmission/acquisition" were factually reduced, insurances and/or MedicAid would pay for the procedure if/when done as Adults rather than insurances and/or MedicAid considering circumcision to be purely "elective"/"cosmetic" once/after the lad reaches sexual maturity and adulthood.

And knowing the process of how that affected young girls really made me dive into why MGM - Male Genital Mutilation was even a thing. Yes it’s due to personal or religious beliefs but finally learning about it & literally how unnecessary it is. I never want my kids to experience that at my hand. As a mother, I feel my son is perfect with the body he was given.
    I could never do that to him and subject him to that pain just for aesthetics..I growing up only knew about the penises I had seen which were circumcised and when I met and also learned what went behind why circumcised mens genitals looked that way I honestly was kinda peeved/upset. Not against the men, they had no choice, but because knowing what they were subjected to. I vowed I would never when/if I ever had a son.
    When I heard other women around me put down normal penises for being not as pretty, “dirty”, gross, not turning them on, etc. I was kinda of repulsed at the double standard given that they could judge men based off something they were born with, had no control over, as well as demand respect for being loved for their bodies as they were..I dunno. To each their own, but knowing a innocent baby/child being purposefully subjected to that level of pain and not having a say in a literal freaking part of their body being cut off, was truly disturbing for me. This doesn’t go for the procedures deemed medically necessary cause I get exceptions are needed.
    I’ve been with circumcised and natural penises. And both were fine because I loved the person it was attached to.

    I struggle to understand why so many people in the US are pro circumcision. I feel like there are risks associated with it that are not talked about enough (such as causing disfigurement of the penis, and yes that has happened) as well as the baby not having contest over the decision. I can personally say I am very thankful that I’m not circumcised because if I wanted to, I can make that decision for myself now that I’m an adult. Also, I was taught at a very young age about pulling the foreskin back in the shower and hygiene. It’s really not difficult to do.

      The common damages of male infant/adolescent circumcision (i.e., meatal stenosis, skin-bridges, horrible or misaligned circumcision scars [offsetting the Raphe], twisting/curving in any direction, early onset of E.D., etc.) have become "normalized" over the years. These risks are virtually absent when Adult circ occurs, and most who have had MIC/RIC will not admit to any of these normalized damages due to embarrassment and likelihood of being ostracized for speaking about it.
MIC/RIC has been reduced to 54% since 1996, so the "trend" is intelligently diminishing.

      @Mdisk64 I was circumcised against my will. This is usually done to an infant who can't choose. I didn't consent. The prepuce (foreskin) performs over 16 unique functions, most notably it is a natural lubricant, providing rolling and gliding action, making sex much more convenient and comfortable. It also contains over 10,000 specialized nerve endings making sex much more pleasurable, the prepuce also protects the glans from getting less sensitive overtime. The original circumcision done during the Old Testament was actually just a small little nick designed to draw just a single drop of blood. Overtime it has become perverted by other groups. If it's his body, shouldn't it be his choice? Were you mutilated? You should always take things from the perspective of the victim.

    Its so interesting that this is such a huge deal in the US. Here in the EU you mostly get circumcised because of religious reasons and besides that it doesnt really matters at all!

      same in india, i did not know it was a big deal, here if someone says they're cut we used to just assume they're muslims, and we wouldnt be wrong once. Not once still.

    From a country where we "must" be. The tradition us to get cut and someone older like grand oncle eats it
    Have been cut at 5 y/o. I didn t know what being uncut is bc here , it's not normal to be uncut lmao. I figured it out when I met some cousins, half european (french) and saw him pee.
    I'm waiting for foregen to achieve and succed their regenerative method, bc it was a trauma for me, and I want it back.
    Whoever is interested ! Check on foregen! We can support them !

      Circumcision of healthy babies and young children must be stopped because it is terribly cruel and unnecessary and has no benefits.

    i would never circumcise my child. it’s not my body to alter. they can do it if they want when they’re older and able to consent (i’ve heard the healing isn’t bad).

    It’s really an unnecessary procedure to do it as an infant. I think they do it because they earn more money. If I were to choose for my infant son, leave it. Let him make the decision.

    I am extremely against circumcision. I do know that there are very rare cases in which it is done for a legitimate medical reason like if it were to affect the persons way of life in a negative way which is fair enough. Other that this I think it should be illegal. It is genital mutilation and it has always bothered me how many people seem to be for it. Like those who use the excuse that it is for hygiene reasons, like are you just not cleaning yourselves properly? Or teaching your children to keep themselves clean? Because thats gross. It is not common in my country New Zealand. I have not seen a circumcised penis and I don't know of anyone who has either. I guess it would weird me out because I would start thinking about how they didn't consent to being mutilated but it isn't their fault. These kids aren't consenting to having this thing happen to them. I don't understand how anyone could allow that to happen to a baby that they are meant to be loving and protecting. It is just one of the many things I do not understand about Americans.

    As long as it is on consenting adults. Not children. And stop using the word circumcision. It either mutilated or intact. And it's not extra skin. It not extra. And next time clarify their preference for male or female mutilation.
