Fantastic performance! 🔥
Super groupe de jazz bravo pmjr le sound😊
It is hard to tell the difference between Mr. McBride's speaking voice and the sound of his instrument!
At first, I cringed at this comment ... and then I heard the bowed intro to the second tune right after he finished speaking - and when he uses the bow, it does have the timbre of his speaking voice. Now I want to find a clip of McBride singing.
@@andybaxter4442 I just meant it as a joke - his voice is SO deep, way down in the cellar. But as for singing, I think his wife in the singer in the McBride family.
No, it's funny, but at 9:05, when he talks and then immediately plays the bowed line, it gets a little truer than I expected.
Funny! But I can still recognice that difference so I am not completely deaf...
I guess Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy would have loved this.
Sometimes McBride’s virtuosity obscures his actual artistry. The New Jawn is the best showcase for his vision as a bandleader and composer. The edgier the better!!!
Just listened to “New Tijuana Moods” from Charles Mingus recorded in 1962. Christian McBride is keeping jazz alive. Paying tribute to the masters before and inspiring the masters to come. Righteous jam from a terrific band! Thanks
"John Day", that cat must have been complex but deeply saddened by something or other. Difficult tune to absorb. Discordant finish says it all.
I feel bad for Mr McBride and co.... Especially after what San Fran did to them Eagles. But, they might turn me around with this music. That's how good these guys are. Love, ~Stupid Cowboys Fan.
This has made my favorite in studio performances list🔥
Mr. McBride, I just have to say that your solo on the first tune was absolutely mind blowing.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt the spirit ofMingus in Christian quite like I do here
The first guy in dark blue had some problems with his instrument 😣 McBride great as always
Very nice. I was expecting Kush to be the Dizzy Gillespie piece of the same title, but it was a completely different, and interesting, piece. I like what you all do with the Ornette tune. It felt like you made it your own, played it like you meant it. So cool.
Damn how have I never heard of them 🤯 thx kexp fr
So grounding, Like the earth.
McBride is THE MAN
this is how bro sounds? damn, deep ass voiced mofo
What is the secret to this amazing upright bass production stellar sound coming across clear and ‘apparently low’ my iPad speakers ?
The secret is:
1. Incredible bass player***
2. A fine instrument
3. Mic choice and placement
4. A job well done by the recording engineer.
0:30 Dolphy Dust
9:17 John Day
17:39 Kush
27:15 The Good Life
32:50 Wrapup Discussion
Happening in every criteria. Swing, cohesivness, intent, virtuosity, originality. Made my evening! Thank you all. Bright Moments!
9:05 John Day, with bass clarinet! Thank you so much from northern Sweden!
Fye jawn
I believe this is the best jawn I ever listened to.
