    My uncle got me your goblinoid crochet kit for Christmas a while back. It took me a while to start using it, but once I did, I fell in love with crochet. Thank you for all the fun memories (and plushies) that you've sparked. ❤️

    My preferred method, now that I’ve started making keychains, is to just sew in the keychain when I’m at the part of the project I want the keychain to be in. Then I’ll continue the project, or just sew in my ends!

    That's almost the same way I do it for the Octopus Amigurumi's I crochet. But as I get close to making the edges of its head, I use the "tail" that I have at the top of its head and add the keychain thru the top then use a yarn needle and go thru the jumping and then pull the yarn back thru to the other side and weave in what's left of the tail.

    That’s so clever! Definitely using this when I’m ready to start adding keychains!

    I always start amigurumi by chaining 1, and working 6 sc into it instead of the magic circle. I leave some yarn there, finish my project, and then using that leftover yarn from the beginning, I tie the ring on the piece securely and cut off the excess

    • @ClubCrochet

      That’s a great alternative method for sure!

      Some patterns I've done use this method. Do you know what the pros and cons of each method are?

    • @anonymous.4134
      @anonymous.4134 Рік тому

      @@magentafox1657 as far as I know, it really boils down the personal preference. I stopped using the magic circle because I didn't like starting it, and it sometimes left a small hole on top of my work. Other than that, they're pretty much the same, use whichever you like better

    • @historianKelly
      @historianKelly Рік тому +4

      @@magentafox1657Usually, the pro to using a Magic Ring is that you can - theoretically - pull it shut all the way, so there's no hole. When you sc into a chain st, often that leaves a hole, because the sts make room for themselves naturally. However, I'm never one to just leave well enough alone, so if my work has an unintentional hole - crochet or knit, regardless of what I'm making or where it happens - I go through the back or inside of the work or however I need to do it, and loop a small piece of yarn through the hole & tie it off & find a way to hide the ends (I learned that from doing embroidery).

    If you start with a magic ring, use the yarn tail from there bring it to the outside before stuffing and closing the amigurumi. That way, one end is already firmly attached. Use that to sew on the keychain and weave in the end at the end.

    For those who want it written:
    Making the Center
    1. Magic ring
    2. Do 4 half double (correct me if im wrong) loops; pull through all then 1 slip stich to seal
    3. Repeat step 2 for 9 times (get 10 total)
    4. Seal magic ring
    5. Now make another center (repeat step 1-4) and stich the two back to back using single crochets
    Making the Petals
    6. Get color 2, single crochet it into the edgeof the brown center
    7. Make 3 slip stiches (3ch)
    8. Do 5 half doubles in the 1st row do 5 more half doubles in next row
    9. Pull through all; seal with slip stich
    10. Chain 3 slip stich; looop it back to the same stich you started it on
    11. Chain 3 and stich it in the 2nd row to finish the other side of petal
    12. Repeat step 7-11 for the rest of the petals (10 total)
    13. Seal it off at the end so it doesn’t unravel

    Out of curiosity, why don't you just open the jump ring and poke it through and then close it back up again?

    • @Yoyocreative
      @Yoyocreative 11 місяців тому

      It can be quite a hassle to get a tiny jump ring through a stitch, turned the right way, and close it. And often you'll catch a few extra fibers and that can cause the yarn/plushie to look strange too!
      It's faster to thread a darning needle, make a few stitches and tie a knot 😊
      I'm sure there's people out there who do it the way you describe too though! It's a matter of preference 😊
      For me, I like to bend a wire (or paperclip!) into a spiral with a ring on top and poke it through the head before I stuff it! That way, the wire spiral is on the inside, making sure it doesn't pull out when it's done. The ring on top pokes through the head and is the only part visible from the outside. Then you can add whatever you want to hang it.
      There's many ways to do this and all of them are fine if it works for you 😊

    Conversely......just leave the tail long, use that to sew in the key chain at the same time you're closing off your final stitches, maybe even do a single slip stitch around the chain knot tightly and hide the remaining tail in the body..... No need for extra steps. That sucker is NEVER coming out, especially if it's amigurumi cotton....
