- Hello Wasteland!
In today's episode, I go over ways to make every single template for every single dropped weapon in Gaslands!
That's Mines, Caltrops, Glue, Oil Slicks, Smoke and of course, Napalm!
And I try my hand at a few new ideas, as well as classics. Why not give them ago!
If you guys want to check out my sister's Etsy shop, that would be pretty cool.

*To create tire tread marks in hot glue:* Try brushing on a bit of dish soap as a release agent. Its worked for me in past builds.
You know what would be a pretty amusing caltrop drop? Tiny little legos!
I remember the "3D" prismatic cards which contained two images visible by moving the card. I've always felt that these would make excellent terrain features for templates - if only someone would make them...
Dude! those mines are awesome! the glass pile is SCARY!!
You know it man 😁 glad you like it!
I use those little screw hiding disk things from flat pack furniture with a tiny bit of sprue as the trigger to make mines. I paint the trigger pin red for som visual interest.
Played my first game of gaslands last night because your channel kept me interested long enough to buy in. Thanks for representing a great game
No worries 😉 keep fighting the good fight brother 😁
awesome collection of ideas! Love your content :)
just a few basing tips for You:
- sift your sand or sawdust for smaller particles - the ground texture will look more to scale.
- use tile grout instead, bit more expensive but the texture looks awesome. bought a 2kg bag of beige grout a few months ago and after basing a hole lot of terrain i still didn't make a dent in the bag
- tile grout comes in a variety of colors, so it will fit every scenario, from urban to desert. i'm mixing beige grout with sand and now i don't even have to paint the bases ;)
Thanks again for the awesome content, keep being awesome Dude!!
Great shout out there Olovski 😉 I'll have to try that out some time 😁
@@jhminiatures7867 U welcome :) just keep those ideas commin, and we be buildin them
So much to try over the next few days. Thank you for collecting these techniques into one place. This vid will definitely inspire some new directions to take.
That's the hope 😂 no worries Gregori 😉 have fun building and be sure to show us how you get on! 😁
Lovely build. Those are brilliant.
All look amazing :) and most say the hot glue looks amazing painted up
Thank you man 😉
I need to make some of these for my channel!! These are so cool! Thanks for the inspiration!
No worries man 😉 and hey, great job with that roads video 😁 gonna need to try my own version of that 😛
burger part was hilarious, you're quickly becoming a favourite channel!
Glad to hear it! :D
Since we're replying to my comment here, these guys are fake accounts for a massive scam that's getting around,
but probably not a very healthy relationship anyway if you have to hack your girlfriend's account haha
Many thanks for all this inspiration!!
Couple of (possibly flawed) suggestions I haven’t tried but will be actually trying soon:
- using translucent acetate for the template bases, the kind used last century for the front cover of reports. Easy to cut but sturdy, durable, and mostly transparent!
- mixing white and pale grey paint with pva or mod podge to make the glue template? Although I am definitely making your green one!
- mixing black, yellow, orange, and red paint with baking soda and pva to be layered for the napalm effect, just like pva and baking soda make realistic snow, maybe it would also work for smoke with grays...
Some great suggestions there Marcos 😁 I'm gonna have to try some out man 😉
Nice.
And guys, check out the V2A livestream from today 😛

great video today and that is cool your sister has a Etsy store now
Thank you Matt 😉
Think on those ugly tire mines I'd sand them down to the center line and they'd look much more in scale as mines. Try checking Bolt Action tutorials on explosions painting and using a dollar store battery tea light it comes out looking very good flickering. Using Mod Podge on your terrain pieces will seal those thirsty paint drinking materials. You can add a little black gray or white acrylic paint to primer your terrain makes them very tough and sturdy. On those spikes use that mod podge they will be as strong as steel then. On those carboard bases you can use a strip of paper cut to cover up those corrugated edges or even fill with hot glue and primer and paint makes a much better look. To do those mines from the tires you could use silicone molds push the tires in as far as you want them tall and make a mold you could turn out a bunch quickly. Liked your video was very interesting. Oh for basing material check out a cabinet maker they will have very fine sawdust can also use baking powder in scale it looks like sand where as real sand looks huge in this scale.
A lot of great advice there my friend 😂 although I will say this, we don't have Mod Podge here in the UK 😛
@@jhminiatures7867 Ahhh well that's just downright unfortunate. It's so much more then just pva glue and water. I have a a pair of jeans I dripped a drop on while crafting it dried and now is still there even after over a dozen laundry trips through the washer and dryer.
What is the intro song
How you store your collection of cars?
Foam carry cases 😉 same as any 28mm miniatures
Templates!!! To the danger zone !!!
You know it Brother 😁😉
*Huh*... Two people don't like templates.
