I can’t compliment you both enough on the professional results you achieve! The workmanship on the furniture and the videography is outstanding! I feel you are on a completely different level than 95% of other UA-camrs I watch.

You guys are great! Amazing project as always. I could almost feel how smooth that was from here when you ran your hand over the drawer. :). The videography is also amazing. And you always make me laugh at the end - which is a bonus for me. Be blessed.
Aw thank you!! Seriously so buttery smooth, I was a little sad to sell this one so fast 😂 Dean has been working so hard on these videos, thanks for noticing, and thanks for watching!

Beautiful as always. Glad you showed a mid century buffet. I have 3 MCM buffet hutches I'm redoing or about to makeover about the size of this one. Wish I could share my pics with you I'd love your imput
Yes! Now I can easily switch up the colors I use, yay! This is the first time I've tried out this paint and it seemed good to me too. I mainly just love that I can get the exact color I want though :)
nice refinishing.. anyway since you are working on outdoor, how to keep any contaminant away from sticking to the surface when finishing, be it primer, paint coat, wood stain, or clear coat?
I don't paint on super windy days for one, and this part of our driveway doesn't have trees too close so not a lot blowing in the air. But that't another reason I sand between coats, in case something got in the paint before it dries. But honestly, here in Texas when it warms up, it dries before anything can even land on it lol!
Thank you! I don't think I did, it's not actually necessary with this shellac primer, but I always do it on the main surfaces juuuust in case it adds a little more durability, and also to smooth out any imperfections.
That piece came out awesome. Great job you guys. How do you find that spray gun, better than the other one? waste less paint? I have one but didn't try it yet. I would us it on my next piece. Thank you. Keep up the awesome job.
Thanks! For furniture, I definitely prefer this one! The finish is just as good as my airless, but it’s so much easier to switch paints (and to top coat) without wasting paint or needing a lot to prime the line.
Hi!! I love your channel so much! I’ve never flipped any furniture but I’m trying to refinish some wooden nightstands and I was wondering if you were worried at all about sanding the wooden drawers versus stripping them? The dresser looks so amazing!
Thanks!! Since I was doing a pretty similar stain color and the old finish was very thin, I just sanded this one. I'm working on another one currently where I want to totally change the stain color so I'm stripping it first and then sanding. All that to say, it really just depends on the piece and what you want to do with it!
In the description where you list your equipment that you use, I checked the HVLP sprayer set. My question is this: What is the difference between both guns and what does each one do? Is it simply so that you can have two separate colors ready to go at the same time? Also, are you spraying chalk paint in this video? Thank you for any information as this is all new to me.
Congratulations to both of you guys! I love your videos😍 I’m planning to transform my dresser But I’m not sure what kind a topcoat can I use. You think wax is a good option?
Thank you! You can definitely use wax, it’s only meant for over chalk paint though. I like using a water based polycrylic personally, but that’s partly because I’m spraying it :)
They actually had some pretty bad damage that the previous owner had repaired. They were structurally solid but not pretty. I could have bought new ones both chose to just stick with these and paint them :)
Thank you! Currently I have mine set just under 40psi because that’s what my gun recommended, but I’m still wanting to play around with it and really fine tune my settings :)
Never pull a miter saw towards you with the blade touching the wood. Engage the wood at full extension and saw away from you. The reason is that the blade spins opposite to a tablesaw blade.
Hi Sofiya! For prep I usually use around 150 grit, then 220 between any coats. We actually have a video called "our furniture flipping process" (or something like that) where I talk through each step. I definitely know that's helpful, it just started feeling a little bit repetitive having it in every video :). Thanks for watching!
Hi Erin! My older 3 (10, 8, and 6) are in school 2 days a week, so we mostly use that time... which is why you only see our 3 year old! My husband is able to work mostly from home right now, so we tag team and he helps. I only flip 1-2 pieces a week (although I'm wanting to aim for 2+ now) and can finish those easily in that time. The bulk of the work for UA-cam is filming and editing the videos and Dean does all of that!
Hi Jenny! I don't thin my topcoat, and I've never had an issue with bubbles with an HVLP sprayer or an airless sprayer. I know you're supposed to stir it instead of shaking the can to avoid bubbles though. But it sprays flawlessly honestly, and I've seen so many others do the same!
I used to use hvlp when I painted at my parents house, but haven’t in years because the airless better suited my needs for other projects and we didn’t have a powerful enough air compressor. I would hands down recommend hvlp first for furniture though! You don’t need so much paint (I need an entire quart just to prime my airless and then lose more during cleanup) so it’s easy to change colors or just do one small project at a time. The finish on both is flawless if you have the settings all right though! Anyway, I want to do a video soon talking about different sprayers that’ll hopefully be helpful!

So pretty! Always impressed with the DIY Wife. You make it look so easy! Did you use three coats of paint and three coats of primer?
Thank you! I did 1 coat of primer, 2 coats of paint, then did 3 coats of polycyclic for this one :)
Nice work! Is there a reason why you rolled on the primer as opposed to spraying it? Just trying to learn.
Mostly just because it’s a little more difficult to clean, but you can definitely spray your primer too!

Very cool piece, what was the over/under on making the legs wood grain instead of paint? That would have been my only change if it were my project.
