Hey there! I have the same machine and her name is Stella too! I find the thread catching too on the spool when I forget to collapse the base of the spool. Once you do that no need for your sock...love All of your videos and knowledge!!!

Very helpful, especially for a beginner like me. I had a bad quilting day yesterday where my long arm was breaking thread and missing stitches. An entire day fiddling with it with nothing being accomplished. I didn’t know what my top thread tension should feel like. I spent the evening coming up with a troubleshooting checklist and went through all the possible causes and I think the cause was my needle was too small for the weight of thread and I had fiddled with the top tension dial and had no idea what the baseline was. Once I got to sewing again and get that perfect balance I know how my top thread tension should feel.

I never realized how much I relied on listening to my machine until I started using earbuds or a headset for listening to music or podcasts. I felt out of sorts not being able to hear my machine and realized I couldn't hear tension problems, bobbin thread running out, and just the general flow of my quilting was just choppy. So I'm back to my neighbors and household getting to hear my tunes coming from my garage when I have the doors open to enjoy the sunshine.

It does make a difference, doesn’t it? I love to listen to books so I still bury my ears in headphones a fair bit😁

Great topic! I had the exact same issue on my Q16. My solution was to collapse the base of the Isacord thread spool, thus recessing the notch into the base. The thread no longer catches on the notch. Thanks for all the help you've provided me in my quilting journey!
