Dimash and Diana seem to share their fan base to a large extent and it is not just because each of them have unique voices and are gifted performers. In my opinion, the common ground is essentially spiritual, in that each of them use their 'God given talent' and decades of dedicated training and practice of their art to transcend even the song and the music and touch us heart to heart with such a level of authenticity that it is self-transcendent (beyond ego) which is sublime and we as listeners have our own hearts opened and bathe in the afterglow of that transcendence. They both dig deep, totally commit and give their all. Those of us that cherish these two have learned that having 'normal' voices is irrelevant, that it doesn't even matter if we understand the lyrics and that no matter what race, culture we are from or what music styles we might normally prefer, our hearts are genuinely uplifted when we are privileged to hear them. Also both performers themselves are deeply affected by their own performances. Look at Dimash's eyes at the conclusion of this performance. He is in a profound and deep state. High as a kite, but not in an intoxicated way, but spiritual exhaltation. Diana has said that she is sometimes so immersed in her performances that she does not have full recall of performing them. In two of her more recent songs you see her turn away from the audience at the end of the song as she is in tears. Again, she is in a deep and profound state, having just experienced self-transcendence. Another indicator that they are not 'just' great singers is that their fans feel a deep and profound love them that is way beyond fan crazed adulation. They are both exception people and they were born to do this and are a gift to the world. I also suggest that you start with Diana's songs more or less historically, as you also get to see the growth and development of her art. She is not Dimash and does not sing like him. She is Diana and sings like no one else. Some have said that Dimash is the sun and Diana is the moon. That Dimash is the sky and Diana is the earth. Regardless I feel blessed that I have found them in my life and it has been and continues to be, greatly enriched by them. People will tell you about Diana's background which is tragic beyond belief, but also a life of triumph over adversity. She is an inspiration to me and many others across the world. You will deeply appreciate getting acquainted with her when you do. You don't need to be a vocal expert to do reactions - some of them are a bit boring to be honest and sometimes you get the impression that the miss the beauty of the forest by examining each twig on a branch. Your reactions are honest and from the heart. That is what we as viewers and dedicated fans of Dimash and Diana enjoy to see, so keep it up - you are doing just fine! One vocal coach described his voice as therapeutic.
I was in the crowd when Jimi Hendrix set fire to his guitar, I was in the Seattle coliseum to witness Led Zepplin, I was at the gorge to see Pearl Jam just after they released their 2nd album and played with Neil Young. I cherish those experiences but would have given all of them away to have been there to listen to Dimash sing Ave Maria. He is truly special and I hope those of you are hearing him now understand this. In 40 years from now you will tell your grandchildren when you first heard Dimash.

The first time I heard it, I was levitating and had to listen to it several times to come back down to earth lol! I'm an atheist, so Ave Maria's words don't speak to me. Igor is Jewish, Dimash is Muslim and they have created a universal Ave Maria. Anyone can make it their own as they wish. I was going to close my computer and go to bed when I saw that you had listened to it, I especially did not want to miss it. So it is with the voice of Dimash that I will go into the arms of Morpheus

Weeks before this performance Dimash asked Igor to compose an Ave Maria for him. Igor said he got on it immediately. When Dimash received it he told Igor it was just what he wanted.

This is my ultimate favorite song of Dimash (so far!)--one that I will listen to at least once a day for the rest of my life--it affects me THAT deeply. This performance just pulls me out of this 3rd Dimension up into the 4th, where our dreams and meditations are. It is where I want to stay and just wallow, letting the gorgeous sacredness just wash over me endlessly, like waves on a shore. Dimash had specifically asked Igor to make this version with vocalize, like you said, with no words, for a reason...and I think it's SUCH a brilliant, choice and so...well...Dimash! If you think about it, by composing this with no actual words, it becomes UNIVERSAL, able to rech ALL of mankind on the planet, without any potential misinterpretations with all the nuances of various languages. We each can take from it what we need--inspiration, hope, healing, compassion, etc.
One thing I would like to point out is that while Dimash, like an exceptional actor, truly INHABITS each of his songs, I have NEVER, EVER, BEFORE OR AFTER, seen him go soooo deeply almost into a meditative state, as he does here. He takes an extra long time being able to "settle in" mentally/emotionally/spiritually in the very beginning. And then, even AFTER a bit of time has elapsed at the end when he accepts the flowers and goes to meet Igor, he STILL has NOT "come out of it"--you can see it plainly in the expression on his face. Truly a performance of a lifetime.

Yes, I did notice that in the beginning and it was then I started to hold my breath because it's his facial expression and the energy he sent out without words - Like no one would dare to interrupt. It's almost as if he let's you know he's about to make a prayer, fasten your seatbelt! I'm still in awe. ♥️

Both Dimash and Diana are absolutely mind-blowing and unique!
At the beginning of the piece, there is an imitation of the sounds from Outer Space recorded by NASA, creating a setting outside the boundaries of our earthly world. By not using any words, Dimash and Igor made this into a prayer accessible to all, regardless of religion. The choir and instruments add to the sacred mystery of this work and Dimash's exquisite messa di voce on High C at the end is absolutely heavenly. Truly a masterpiece for the ages.
Never mind the hateful trolls out there just ignore them. I find your reactions to Dimash to be some of my favorites. It's clear that you are moved by excellent music and Dimash will never disappoint.

Please, you should react to SAMALTAU, from the Digital Show 2021 (there are English subtitles). This is the song Dimash once said is the most challenging for him, not because the vocals, but because of the emotional impact. It is a tradicional song, it talks about Kazakhs who were taken of their homeland to be soldiers. It is a painful historical event for the Kazakh people. It is one of my favorite, favorite song! The sad thought is the world mostly just listens to the trash on the radio. They don't listen to the greats like dimash. When you show this masterpiece to some people they say "its not my type of music" or "hes ok" which just shows how brainwashed the world is.
You could imagine the days of mozart and da vinci and people saying "hes not that good" or "thats not my type of music" and simply missing out on greatness over pride or scared to express themselves. Truly a shame that this can't be heard and appreciated by everyone.
At least we all will keep on supporting him and spreading the word to others in the world to open their eyes and ears.

@@Mikeexteriorcleaning Thank you....yes, it's amazing that there are "artists" with over a half a billion hits to their music videos, and here Dimash is receiving only hundreds of thousands or several millions, sometimes up over 10. But I feel that a being has to have reached a certain level of consciousness to be able to feel DQ's music. Unless one has had a wide enough range of experiences that have penetrated their soul and taken them thru a broader dynamic of human emotions (corny as that sounds) his music won't register. As soon as you said, "I'm a cry baby" I said "uh,oh!". I BAWLED like a baby when I first saw this the first 2 times. It stunned me. I would so moved spiritually that I couldn't believe it. This song quiets down our soul, something we are not used too and I think this is why, when listening to Dimash songs (especially Ave Maria), we seem to have trouble finding our words after his performances!

Dimash asked Igor to compose this song but he wanted something simple and clean just the vocal with no words. Every time I listen to this song my spirit transports to another place that is not in this planet. I float listing to his voice.
Changing the subject a little bit, you mentioned Diana Ankudinova, she is a very talented young lady from Russia. She also has a very unique voice. I suggest you to listen to Wicked Game first. I think she was on a show like The Voice where Igor Krutoi is one the judges.

Dear Eileen, thank you very much for such emotions and reactions to Dimash! He is truly unique at 27 years old! I like it! But just as unique is Diana, she is now 18 years old and her voice cannot be compared with any of the women for her so young age.

I always look forward to and enjoy your reactions to Dimash, and this was no exception. I really appreciate your genuine, heartfelt emotions and the fact that you instinctively knew not to interrupt this performance. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to, and only Dimash's voice could evoke such a profound emotional response in me. This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered and I am moved to tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice.
As you already know, this is a vocalise interpretation of the opening vocals of Schubert's “Ave Maria”. Igor Krutoy composed this rendition for Dimash. I read somewhere that the piece uses only three bars from the original composition and changes the fourth note to a higher note.
Someone explained that Dimash called Igor Krutoy with an idea for a brand new interpretation of Ave Maria and asked him to compose the music. Dimash is said to love Gregorian choral music which is where he got the inspiration. Igor composed the music, after which Dimash conceived these exquisite vocals. Someone else likened it to “a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (dark to light)!”
The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce", the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. It is considered one of the most difficult vocal exercises and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced vocalists rarely ever master.
There are at least 11 other compositions titled "Ave Maria" and over 40 different renditions of these versions. The version most people are likely familiar with is Schubert's 1825 composition or the 1853 Gounod composition, based on a famous Bach keyboard prelude written 137 years earlier. *This is the famous composition of Ave Maria misattributed to G. Caccini (1551-1618). It was actually composed by Russian composer Vladimir Vavilov in the early 1970s. He was forced to attribute most of his music to someone other than himself because any religious composition at that time, especially one invoking the Virgin Mary, was criminal under the communist dictatorship governing the Soviet Union.

You will enjoy Diana's singing, no doubt about it. There is a single connection between Diana and Dimash. It's Igor Krutoy, who has become a patron of both singers. But otherwise, I don't think there is much to connect the two singers. Diana's range isn't extraordinary (but her tone quality is amazing), and they have not sung the same songs, so far as I am aware.
Dimash sings 'Ave Maria' entirely in the soprano register, but I don't think many sopranos will be eager to cover this vocalise composition. It's difficult. Extended vibrato sections delivered with precision is part of the difficulty, but the worst part is the crescendo-decrescendo in the final section. That is just insanely hard to do with whistle voice. Even very accomplished sopranos would be exposed by an attempt to sing this vocalise as Dimash sang it.
I don't expect sopranos to match his tone quality, either. Dimash sings 'Ave Maria' with a definite countertenor tone, distinguishable from soprano voices I have heard.
As for countertenors covering 'Ave Maria,' no. Not going to happen. Most countertenors can't sing much above the 5th octave (US reckoning). Dimash is at the top end of the 6th octave in this song. The few countertenors who might hit those notes don't have such fine vibrato control and would be defeated by the crescendo-decrescendo in the final passage. Countertenors will avoid Krutoy's 'Ave Maria' like a disease.
Dimash sings like a countertenor in most of his songs where there are high notes, but he *can* sound exactly like a soprano if he wants to. 'Love Is Like a Dream' provides an example. You will enjoy that one, too, I promise.

Diana is a type of unicorn.. sounding completely unlike ANYTHING anyone has heard (I don’t know about anyone ever in the history of the world lol, but most of us). The Igor connection as well as her region of the world. Yes Kazakhstan & Russia are not the same at all but for others, that’s why they group them. Plus the nature of social media- they usually heard one unicorn which led them to the other. Possibly the only 2 times they’d ever been so blown away by a sound, or that breaking of the brain between what you’re seeing & hearing.
